A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there?
I’m an executive at Indi Individuals, Inc. Our platform enables creator tools for individuals and offers B2B solutions, such as creator tools for their customer base.
What challenge were you trying to address with DIXTRA?
We needed additional development resources to help our team.
What was the scope of their involvement?
DIXTRA provides developers who integrate with our team on development projects using Flutter. They've also done iOS and Android work.
What is the team composition?
Juan (Business Development Manager) and Mauricio (Tech Lead) are my main contact points. We also work with 5–6 people who integrate with our team, including developers, a UI/UX expert, and a project manager.
How did you come to work with DIXTRA?
They were the best team, by far, of the several we considered, due to their knowledge and experience.
How much have you invested with them?
We've spent $160,000 with them so far.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in November 2020, and it is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Since they started working with us, we've seen tasks completed faster and more efficiently. They’re also quick to adjust to our needs, and I’m impressed with their service, capabilities, and willingness to try everything we ask of them.
How did DIXTRA perform from a project management perspective?
We have daily and weekly meetings and communicate via Slack and email.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Every member of the team has a positive attitude.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I don't think there's anything they can improve on.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Thoroughly explain your needs to Juan and Mauricio and listen to their suggestions; they work in the client's best interest.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
Upostal is a group of companies that are dedicated to everything related to logistics in Uruguay. We have over 1,000 collaborators in a country where e-commerce is still maturing, especially with the COVID-19 pandemic.
What challenge were you trying to address with DIXTRA?
We decided to develop an app to bring our services closer to all the consumers in Montevideo, our capital.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We gave DIXTRA our requirements and they basically developed the application from scratch. About 90% of Uruguay’s population is in Montevideo, so we needed to present our information or executive summary to all consumers there. We let DIXTRA know what our concerns were and they got to work right away with the development, advising us along the way. This app includes features for registration, payment, and task lists.
What is the team composition?
I spoke with two or three people from their team but I don’t really know who else was behind the scenes. I would communicate daily with Mauricio (CEO) to keep the project on track.
How did you come to work with DIXTRA?
One of our clients recommended them to us and we chose to work with them because of their willingness to customized things according to our needs.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent between $10,000–$25,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
The project is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We were able to launch the application a week ago and today, we have a good number of downloads. We’re more than satisfied with the results. They’re an excellent team that’s results-driven and will follow-up after delivery to fix any bugs and make adjustments. It’s been more than an optimal experience.
Their work was fundamental for us because we’re the first logistics company with staff that depends on us that’s launched this type of application in our market. There are other apps out there but they work more like platforms and they don’t have people depending on them. We have over 1,000 people directly employed by our company all over the country. In our industry, there’s no other company that has an app exclusively dedicated to the final consumer.
How did DIXTRA perform from a project management standpoint?
DIXTRA has delivered with time to spare and has provided suggestions for improving the app, which we’ve taken into account and implemented. Their commitment was 100% effective.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Everything was impressive, but mostly their communication and how they were able to interpret our needs, as well as the actual development of the project. I would 100% recommend them.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, I can’t find any issues in communication or development and implementation.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO and founder of Count. It, an online platform to do fitness tracker challenges for all kinds of businesses and organizations.
What challenge were you trying to address with DIXTRA?
They provide software development services for us.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Their team handles all of the software engineering for our web platform and mobile app. They use several technologies, like Ruby on Rails, MongoDB, Angular, React Native, and a large number of tools and frameworks.
What is the team composition?
We’ve worked with about 4–5 people, but on a daily basis, three people from their team work with us.
How did you come to work with DIXTRA?
We found them through word of mouth. I’m also the founder of another company that has worked with other Uruguayan engineers and had been told by someone I trust that there is great engineering talent in Uruguay and it’s less expensive than New York City.
We worked with another company in Uruguay, but they were busy so they referred us to use DIXTRA.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent around $150,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We’ve been working together since around April 2019.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
I’ve found a few talented engineers to work with from their team, so that’s been really important for my small startup company. They’ve made me feel like I have a real engineering team even though it’s a contract.
How did DIXTRA perform from a project management standpoint?
Since it’s software, deadlines are always tricky but they’re very proactive. They’re very communicative and are a good team. When something hasn’t worked out, they’ve either made it right by knocking it off the bill or doing more work.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They’ve got a good corporate culture and are easy to work with. They’re good at working with startups and are flexible. Being able to work with me and give me attention has been great. My lead engineer is very talented and they’ve got a talented team.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They’re still small, which works for me. But the next step is probably to get bigger and scale how flexible, proactive, and innovative they are at the same time.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I’m the founder of Gestika, the first collaborative sign language dictionary. It´s like a wiki-dictionary where user can search signs videos, ask for signs that are not already uploaded or upload and share their on sign language videos.
For what projects/services did your company hire DIXTRA?
We changed the development firm to Dixtra. They had to finish the app and put it into production. It was not easy to work in a project that anybody else started. First, they needed to understand what the previous firm had done and then fix many bugs and develop other functionalities.
What were your goals for this project?
We needed to put the app into production as soon as possible
How did you select DIXTRA?
The previous development firm we were working with, had referred Dixtra and two other alternatives to us. We evaluate the three firms and we choose Dixtra. It seemed the best proposal to us.
Describe the project in detail.
Dixtra worked on front and back-end development. Most of the user interface was already designed, but Dixtra had to fix many issues. We had weekly meetings to evaluate progress, solve problems and decide how to stay ahead.
What was the team composition?
I talked directly with Diego and Mauricio, the two founders and partners of Dixtra, and wih another Mauricio, the technological leader.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Gestika is already available in the apps stores and now Dixtra is helping us with the maintenance and development of new functionalities.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
It was very easy to work with them. Communication was fluid and they were almost always available.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Gesika is a project that aim at a social impact, it is not just another commercial start up. Understanding the problem we wanted to address, the situation of the deaf community and the challenges we had to take on, was very, very important to us. In that sense, Dixtra was not just our software development provider, their shared our concerns and worked on the project as it was their own project.
Are there any areas for improvement?
The same I would say about any software development firms: lead times.
DIXTRA's work has streamlined the client's processes by completing tasks faster and more efficiently. They're also communicative and quick to adapt to the project's needs. The team also praises their positive attitude throughout the engagement.
