Drop Shop Digital LLC
Drop Shop Digital LLC wanted a custom website built. After presenting some templates, the owner decided to go with a design made completely from scratch. He chose the look he was going for and we were happy to tweak the website until it was just what he wanted.
We also ended up building out a backend admin panel to control different features, pages on the site, and the customer portal for the feature "Lightbox". Lightbox allows users to sign-up or continue as a guest to save images on the site into a cart that can be viewed and updated at a later date. Users can reserve a backdrop on the site and receive confirmation within 48 hours.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the CEO and owner of a financial services company that focuses on investing money in businesses around the world. We are a growing startup that consists of consultants in different countries to help facilitate transactions for these investments.
For what projects/services did your company hire Diverse Programmers, LLC?
We needed an in-house, invite-only mobile application to manage transactions while on the go.
What were your goals for this project?
Since most of our consultants are continuously on the move, we needed a solution that was feasible to continuously update and view requests from a mobile device. We also allow our clients to view the progress and the total amount of their investments. I believe a mobile application instills a level of trust with our clients.
How did you select Diverse Programmers, LLC?
We were searching for businesses here on Clutch and ended up coming across Diverse Programmers. I had reached out to several businesses that did not seem to understand what we were trying to achieve and found that James from Diverse Programmers seemed to grasp the idea and had worked in financial services in the past.
The pricing was competitive with the other quotes and more in line with what we wanted to create.
Describe the project in detail.
We had multiple calls with James each lasting from 1-2 hours to try and nail down the details of the project and he decided to use React Native for the framework. The project was broken down into milestones, with a 20% down payment required upfront.
At each milestone we would review their progress before paying another 20% until completion. The infrastructure was built on AWS and since it's in the free tier, we actually have no associated costs at the moment with 200 users so far.
What was the team composition?
I only interfaced with James who acted as both the architect and project manager, but was made aware that we had 2 react native developers, 1 UX/UI designer, and 1 QA specialist.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
We are happy with the success of the mobile application. Both in-house consultants and clients have been using it and have been giving us good feedback. It is mainly used on the go as intended and integrates with our website perfectly.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
We were happy with the communication received from James and they kept up to their deadlines. We liked being able to view the application over screen shares so we could visually see the progress being made.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
I was impressed with James from the start. We saw his case studies published on AWS and his recognition on the platform that led to our first conversation. I really like how James was willing to put in the time before signing a contract and going through the nuances.
He was very descriptive and patient in responding to every inquiry. The quality of the design, zero to low-cost architecture, and speed of the app are all impressive to us.
Are there any areas for improvement?
We don't have any complaints and will continue to work with Diverse Programmers in the future.

Web Development for Digital Photography Company
"Diverse Programmers is not another average development company."
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the owner of Drop Shop Digital. We make backdrops for film and television shows and have worked on several major motion pictures. We take pictures and maintain an online inventory of digital images. The studio builds a live-scale movie set on a soundstage, and the prints are what’s seen outside a window, for example.
What challenge were you trying to address with Diverse Programmers, LLC?
My original website had been built at a low cost and had very few functionalities. It was very basic, and served me well until my image inventory began to grow. A hired another development team to build out the site in WordPress to house that inventory, but the engagement failed.Â
Eventually, the site was hacked into, and I realized we needed a custom website.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Diverse Programmers built my custom website using Simple Grid. They built it from the ground up, a complete overhaul. The team originally wanted to go with a couple of templates, but I had a specific style in mind. The team built the code for a panoramic stitching program, which is required for the photos we take. They also structured a catalog with a query function, so users could search locations and other keywords.
Once the site was built, Diverse Programmers provided me with a copywriter, who helped me go over our content and hone in on some of the wording.
What is the team composition?
I worked with James (Founder and CTO), and the copywriter.Â
How did you come to work with Diverse Programmers, LLC?
I found them through Amazon. I did some research and learned about Amazon’s CloudFront and their CDN network, then I started going into more in-depth research about what Amazon had to offer as far as web development. I eventually created an AWS profile and posted the job. James responded, and we began our engagement from there.
How much have you invested with them?
The initial quote was around $10,000, and we ended up at around $15,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We began working together in December 2019. Diverse Programmers finished the initial work, but they still provide support on an ongoing basis.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We don’t have a lot of metrics. Diverse Programmers offered to install analytics, but I declined.Â
When the website launched, we didn’t make a formal announcement immediately. It was up for a month or two, and I noticed that my customers were already using the site. Organic traffic has increased, which speaks to the improvement in the site’s look and functionality.
How did Diverse Programmers, LLC perform from a project management standpoint?
James was clear with his communication, met his deadlines, the price add-ons were noted, and he followed through with everything he promised.Â
The web development project was beneath James’ skillset. He’s excellent at what he does, and his capabilities extend far beyond what my project required. I’m confident that if I approach him with a question, he’ll have an answer.
I was really impressed with how well and quickly he was able to write the panoramic stitching code. It showed he can do far more than just web development, and that he has knowledge of a wide range of tools.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Diverse Programmers is not another average development company. They’re able to deliver far more than what’s expected in a hands-on experience.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I don’t have any heavy critique about Diverse Programmers, except for the fact that they should listen to the customer and find out what they want before they start the job, and draft the rest of the job in accordance with that. I felt there was a bit of push back and forth in the beginning, just to get on the same page about what it was that I wanted.
Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?
I’d tell them to not hold back. Working with Diverse Programmers is worth every penny. If they’re looking for a cheap solution, there are a lot of them out there. If they’re looking for the right solution, then I’d use someone like Diverse Programmers.

Web Dev & AWS Consulting for Accounting Firm
"Diverse Programmers, LLC has reliable, trustworthy, and genuine people."
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a data analyst for GNO International, an accounting and bookkeeping online service.Â
What challenge were you trying to address with Diverse Programmers, LLC?
We needed a platform that would be accessible to our customers. Security was our number one priority.
What was the scope of their involvement?
The scope started as building this website and portal for our customers. The first website was hosted to GoDaddy, and Diverse Programmers, LLC migrated it to AWS and FileZilla. They used a PHP and HTML template with some custom code. There are two portals: one for customers and one for admin. Customers can upload and download financial statements, and we can upload their profit and loss balance sheet for seamless online bookkeeping. It also used authorized .NET as the payment method. We also had some sandbox accounts so we could play with it first.
As the relationship progress, Diverse Programmers, LLC offered their services to our VoIP system, which we wanted to integrate as well. The system was custom-made and worked efficiently, unlike the work of developers we’d previously worked with.Â
What is the team composition?
We only work with James (CTO & Solutions Architect, Diverse Programmers, LLC).
How did you come to work with Diverse Programmers, LLC?
We originally had heard of AWS IQ, a platform for developers to bid on projects. I uploaded our project and heard from a bunch of different developers. We started talking with James and found to be a real honest guy and the most knowledgeable person. That led us to work with him for this project.Â
What is the status of this engagement?
The partnership started in August 2019 and is ongoing. I was just on the phone with James a few days ago.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
His work boosted our sales by 10%
How did Diverse Programmers, LLC perform from a project management standpoint?
He’s always there for us when we need to reach out. He’s punctual at getting everything done on time. What differentiates him from others is that he really makes sure we understand everything that he’s doing. He’s taken the time to sit down with me remotely and lead a session to train me on managing the system — showing me where the data is stored and how to access the files.Â
What did you find most impressive about them?
Diverse Programmers, LLC has reliable, trustworthy, and genuine people. It means a lot for our sense of security to have a developer that we can trust.Â
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, everything is exactly how we want it to be.Â
Any advice for potential customers?
Just be honest and map out the project in the beginning so that Diverse Programmers, LLC can have a good understanding of what needs to be done.

App Dev for Livestream Vlogging Startup
"James is easy to work with and his services are top-notch."
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a partner of a livestream vlogging startup. Users of our platform can live stream private videos to viewers of their choice.
What challenge were you trying to address with Diverse Programmers, LLC?
We needed them to create a mobile app from scratch.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Diverse Programmers, LLC handles the design and development of our app. First, we gave them our main ideas, some suggestions, and the expectations then they took over and got to work. After giving us several options, we decided to go with API because it's in my team’s best interest for cost and functionality.
We recently completed phase one of the project. The basic functionality of the app is that it functions as a vlogging tool. Users can live stream their private life and share interesting feeds with viewers.
Acting as a host, a user creates a channel and gives access to a maximum of four people. These viewers can then watch the host’s livestreamed videos. The app allows the host and their viewers to communicate through push notifications. Everything happens in real-time.
What is the team composition?
James (Founder, Diverse Programmers, LLC) is my main point of contact. I know there’s another teammate, but I haven’t really spoken to him.
How did you come to work with Diverse Programmers, LLC?
I was searching for developers through the AWS IQ program. After reading reviews about their listed experts, Diverse Programmers, LLC stood out as one of the top options. I put out an RFP for several programmers and selected them in the end.
How much have you invested with them?
At this point, I’ve invested around $10,000. This will change as the app grows.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our partnership began in December 2019, and it’s ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Everything looks great so far. James is easy to work with and his services are top-notch. I don’t have any problems or anything negative to say about the engagement. The work isn’t finished yet, we just started the second phase.
How did Diverse Programmers, LLC perform from a project management standpoint?
Their communication skills are great. We correspond through e-mail, phone calls, and video calls. If I text James, he responds right away. He has managed the project very well so far. Throughout the day, he proactively communicates what they need from me or asks if I need anything from them.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I really like the cost of this project. From the beginning, James’ cost-benefit rates have been a main driving force of our partnership. In addition to that, he’s very knowledgeable about app development. He’s put me at ease throughout our entire engagement. James is forthcoming and very helpful. He educates and teaches me what I need to do and understand.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I can’t think of anything they can improve on right now. Until we have the final product, I can’t really finalize my opinion. Everything is going well right now.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Make sure to start the engagement fully prepared in terms of what you need. Write down everything you need so you’ll know how much the project will cost. There are no surprises if you know exactly what you’re looking for.
For example, there’s a feature I currently want to include but because of cost, I’m holding back until the second version of the platform launches.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the CEO of a pharmaceutical wholesale distributor. We offer an array of products from our vendors.
For what projects/services did your company hire Diverse Programmers, LLC, and what were your goals?
They helped us build a website and back-end to manage our sales, products, distributors, etc. Our distributors are also able to login to track their purchases. We wanted to move away from using spreadsheets and manual work.
How did you select Diverse Programmers, LLC and what were the deciding factors?
We found Diverse Programmers on AWS and read a few of James' publications related to medical. After speaking with James we decided he was a tier above the rest we contacted.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
We had several discussions before signing a contract. They began by analyzing our spreadsheets and workflow. Their CTO James came up with a solution to help automate our tasks. We agreed with their proposed solution with minimal suggestions needed. They created a server-less solution consisting of S3, Cloudfront, Lambda, AuroraDB, Amazon Cognito, and SNS.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We mainly interfaced with James and Carolyn, a senior software engineer on their team. The team consisted of 2 senior software engineers, 1 front-end engineer, and 1 QA. James was the project manager and architect.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
The end solution has saved us many hours per week on manual spreadsheet entry. It is also beneficial to our distributors since they can log in and see everything updated in real time.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
Our project was broken down into 5 milestones where we had a meeting for each one before proceeding. We discussed over email, phone, and zoom meetings. Timelines were always met.

We were impressed with James' and his team's expertise. They beat some of the deadlines and provided excellent work.
Are there any areas for improvement?

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the CEO of an online education company. With COVID going on and seeing my friend's and my kids struggling working from home I knew something had to be done. So I started an online portal as a sort of "after-school" type of program to keep kids on track and answer questions outside of the classroom.
For what projects/services did your company hire Diverse Programmers, LLC, and what were your goals?
We hired Diverse Programmers to help create our website and mobile app for our after-school program. They finished the entire project in a timely manner and we are very pleased with their work. They set up the portal for kids, parents, and teachers to monitor the progress of assignments and our staff to help answer questions and help with homework online.
How did you select Diverse Programmers, LLC and what were the deciding factors?
We found a few companies listed here on Clutch and after reviewing the ones with app development experience we decided Diverse Programmers was a good fit with our budget as well as the knowledge shared from our first call.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
They developed a PHP stack for the web application with Laravel and React Native for the mobile app. We were given a project break down in 5 milestones with a down payment before they started their work. We were pleased with their efficiency, updates, and meeting their deadlines they had outlined for us.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We mainly interfaced with their CTO who acts as an architect and project manager. We were told there was one designer, two back-end and mobile developers, and 1 QA engineer.

We have been able to onboard a few school districts and they have been pleased with the ease of use. Parents have given us good feedback and are overall happy with the applications and our services. We will work with Diverse Programmers again in the future when we are looking for additional features and updates.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
We mainly interfaced on the phone or Zoom for each milestone and through email throughout the project. They met their deadlines and were very professional in answering our questions.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
I was impressed from the get go at their domain knowledge in creating websites and mobile apps that interact with each other. Their pricing seemed very reasonable as well.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

District Operations Manager
For what projects/services did your company hire Diverse Programmers, LLC, and what were your goals?
We were researching Amazon Recognition and wanted assistance building out a live solution for all of our locations. We needed to create an active facial recognition service for our stores to quickly recognize and remove bad actors or people that have been trouble in the past.
How did you select Diverse Programmers, LLC and what were the deciding factors?
We found Diverse Programmers on AWS IQ experts.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
They provided instructions for the initial set up of the webcams and worked with a technician to get each location connected to AWS. They helped get our old pictures into AWS and synced it with Amazon Recognition. We now have cameras that can detect faces as they walk into our stores. We have gotten some matches even with face masks, but know our accuracy has been cut down with covid.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We primarily worked with James and Chris. James helped walk us through our different options and Chris was our contact after the project started.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
We have had some matches on past shoplifters and aggressors that we were able to ask to leave the store before they had a chance to do something again.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
They were very responsive throughout the process.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
I am happy that they provided some test results after our consultation with masks and without.

IT Director
For what projects/services did your company hire Diverse Programmers, LLC?
We needed a solution that would integrate with our existing ticketing system. We first had to establish a connection between AWS and our firewall using a VPN tunnel in a designated VPC.
They then built a PHP application on an EC2 instance that made API calls to our on premises ticketing server to pull out relevant user information or to create one if they did not already exist.
Then the user could select categories from the ticketing system and Diverse Programmers also made a FAQ JSON file that we could update with pre-canned answers. If the question was answered, the ticket closes. If the pre-canned answer did not satisfy the user, a chat is routed to our staff to answer the call manually.
What were your goals for this project?
To create a chat help desk on AWS that integrates with our on premises ticketing system.
How did you select Diverse Programmers, LLC?
We found them while researching Amazon Connect and the chat system. James was found on the home page of Amazon Connect for AWS.
Describe the project in detail.
They developed the application for asking the questions, created the FAQ, and customized Amazon Connect to open a chat window if the answer was not satisfactory. They helped with the tunnel between AWS through our firewall to on-premises and wrote the API calls to our existing ticketing system.
What was the team composition?
We primarily worked with James, but also had a chance to work with one of their network engineers.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
We do not have to field as many calls and we can see which pre-canned answers are working and which need more updates. This allows our staff to focus on other tasks instead of fielding questions all day.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
They were great. Had a few follow-ups and they got the main project done.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
They are skilled technically and were able to integrate with our existing systems.
Are there any areas for improvement?
They are sometimes hard to get on the phone, but responded in an hour or two to most emails and calls.

Call Center Manager
For what projects/services did your company hire Diverse Programmers, LLC, and what were your goals?
We wanted to see if we could switch over from Five9 to AWS. We have a lot of users and were not sure what you could accomplish with Amazon Connect, but heard a lot of great things about it. We found James from Diverse Programmers on the front page and did our research with him.
We were pleased to hear they could support our needs and even integrate a pop-up call solution in Salesforce. We wanted to explore our options in switching from Five9 to AWS. With over 200 users, we were not sure if this would be a good move.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We found James on the AWS network and decided to reach out on Diverse Programmers’ website.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
James went over our current Five9 setup and then came back with a plan to build a similar solution using Amazon Connect, Lambda, DynamoDB, and even integrated directly into Salesforce which was an upgrade. We are very pleased with our call center as we have more functionality with the integration, dynamic outbound calls, and a lower monthly cost.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We primarily interacted with James who is the founder and lead architect and Diverse Programmers. We also spoke with a network engineer that tied back into our office network.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
The pop-ups in Salesforce that are tied with Amazon Connect and the dynamic outbound has helped in our contact rates, number of dials, and appointments.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
They divided the project into milestones. Once they got the basic flow put together they made sure to go through everything with us, make the changes as needed, and then set up our users. The communication throughout the process was great.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
I always knew we were in good hands.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Their main phone number isn’t always answered. But, if I sent an email to our contact, we would receive a response within an hour or two.

We found them in a local search for app developers in Seattle and liked James’ helpfulness from the start, so decided to go with them.
Describe the project in detail.
They helped us go over options like whether we wanted to use a mobile template or have the custom designed from scratch. We opted for a mobile template and they built it out for us on Amazon Web Services. They helped us deliver an enterprise deployment so we can quickly add the app to new company tablets and phones.
