We have worked for an extended period, but the project process is ongoing. From our experience, they always stay in touch; we had weekly project calls with our account manager and project manager (and any other relevant staff required at the time, for example, the designer). This meant we could instantly chat as and when questions came up. Everyone we interacted with at DBB Software was always very responsive.

I’m the founder and CEO of SafeMode. We’re a startup based in Israel selling globally, mainly in North America. We’re active in the fleet management industry, helping trucking companies prevent road accidents with our software, which is based on behavioral economics and neuroscience.

My research partner has two decades of academic experience, and we have a robust development team. Our primary focus is on becoming the most driver-centric company.

What challenge were you trying to address with DBB Software?

We needed to extend our team and scale the project. Managing the volume and demand was hard, so we needed to outsource some core development.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

DBB Software works on mobile app development, IoT integration, and cloud-based infrastructure. They’ve done projects on the backend, frontend, mobile, and on the cloud.

Initially, we identify the scope and the requirements we need to develop. We send it over to DBB Software, and they interview the developers to see who is a good fit to work with us. Once they’ve done that, we have several kick-off meetings to review the requirements and the plan depending on the project. We make the plan together and listen to their advice and recommendations on how to approach it.

Afterward, they join our team meetings and work on the development internally until we finish the project. Then, we move on to the next project. Sometimes the same people work with us. Since we switch from mobile to web to backend development, it depends on what we need in each project. Overall, DBB Software has developed a mobile application, a web application, cloud infrastructure, integrations, interfaces, and APIs from scratch.

For example, the application pulls data from devices in trucks. Drivers download the app to their mobile devices and open it to see how much money they make. The app has charts and dashboards showing their trips, driving patterns, and performances. Users can see if they were speeding and in what portion of the road they drove, filter any stuff on the app, and report different events.

The app also allows drivers to interact and see trends in analytics, such as how much money they make over time and what made them lose money. Additionally, there are profiles and wallets where drivers can collect more money and points based on their level. All in all, the app is gamified, user-friendly, and multi-language, with 6–7 languages on the platform.

DBB Software has built the mobile app in React Native, but they’ve also had several Python, JavaScript, and AWS projects on their deck.

On average, we have 2–3 teammates on every project; most of them are developers.

How did you come to work with DBB Software?

They were a referral from another Israeli startup that was very happy with them. We began working together on one project, and when we got the confidence, we continued to extend the scope with DBB Software.

Moreover, their quality is very robust. Everything is well-documented, so we can continue to build on top of these foundations with more features and services.
