A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the founder of PropertyMatch, a site that serves as a marketplace connecting property owners and seekers.
What challenge were you trying to address with Corner Case Technologies?
I needed a firm to take my vision and transform it into a functional website.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Corner Case Technologies has designed and developed my website from scratch using Python. I’ve provided their team with my idea for the site, and Corner Case Technologies has taken it from there. Their team has put together the site’s color scheme and developed the mockups and wireframes.
What is the team composition?
I’ve worked with several teammates from Corner Case Technologies throughout the project, including a designer, back- and frontend developers, and an account manager.
How did you come to work with Corner Case Technologies?
I contacted several companies, but ended up hiring Corner Case Technologies because of their professionalism and price. They could match my budget, although we did scale down the project.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our engagement began in August 2021, and it’s ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The website launched in early January 2022, and although there have been a few bugs, everything is running well. I’m using Hotjar to monitor user navigation, and from what I see, everything is going well. The site is very easy to navigate.
How did Corner Case Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
Occasionally, I need to remind Corner Case Technologies’ team about project pieces, but they always meet my deadlines. We communicate through email and Google Meet.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I’m really impressed with Corner Case Technologies’ quality of work — the end product they’ve delivered works really well and is a positive force for my business.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I think Corner Case Technologies could improve their communication; sometimes, I was left in the dark about project aspects. Corner Case Technologies should implement a bug and progress tracking system that their customers can access.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
I’d advise customers to communicate clearly with Corner Case Technologies. For example, I send them bulleted lists of what I want them to do so it is easy to comprehend.

Mobile App Dev for Professional Coaching Company
"I don’t need to go into too much detail about every requirement; they can figure it out themselves."

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
Headlight is a startup that offers personal coaching services. We were established three years ago with around 10 full-time employees. I am in charge of overseeing our product and I look after anything technical regarding the application that we and our customers use.
What challenge were you trying to address with Corner Case Technologies?
Shortly after I joined the company as the head of product, the freelance software developer that they had hired decided to move on to other projects. I was looking to hire an internal software developer who could help us build on the then-current version of our MVP. I decided to outsource that role to Corner Case.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Corner Case provides us with full-stack developers who could do mobile app development using React Native and handle all of the backend services powering that iOS and Android applications. We are delivering online coaching services for business professionals, and their team supports the calendar functions in the backend of our app.
Corner Case also handles the web portals and web services that our coaches need to access to provide the service. We have internal CRM systems, participant management systems, and analytics tools that are powered by APIs and all deployed on AWS, and their team helps us with all of those as well.
We’re also using Corner Case on an ad-hoc basis. When we need to do some UI design, they work with our internal graphic designer on some of the visual elements of the application. I knew, before hiring them, that we would be exploring new avenues and adding new features to the app, so it was important for me that Corner Case offered some design services as well.
Apart from those, Corner Case also conducts QA testing on all of the codes that they deliver to us. They do manual testing to look into not just the code quality but also the experience quality. However, we recently decided to take on this process ourselves as we need to involve the coaches in the QA. In this regard, we are using not using their QA services in-depth.
What is the team composition?
We currently have one full-time employee who is in charge of all mobile app development. Depending on the load, we also have a senior backend specialist. I believe they are involving a team of frontend experts as well, but that is invisible to us. In total, there may be around four people working on this project, but we’re only paying for the services of the members with whom we’re in constant communication.
How did you come to work with Corner Case Technologies?
We’re part of a studio that helps startups like us grow. When I was looking for external companies that could help with software development, the CTO of the startup studio recommended Corner Case. He had worked with the agency before and was very impressed with their services.
I’ve worked with other offshore companies in the past, so it was easy for me to make a comparison. We liked that Corner Case had the experience of working with a startup like ours where there won’t be enough people to manage the partnership. Their experience just aligned with our way of working, so we decided to go with them.
How much have you invested with them?
At this point, we’re a bit above the €60,000 (approximately $67,000 USD) mark. We pay between €10,000–€15,000 (approximately $11,000–$17,000 USD) a month.
What is the status of this engagement?
We kicked off the project in August 2021, and it is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Corner Case has been able to work much more quickly than the last freelancer we were engaged with. What would’ve taken almost a month and progressed very slowly has only taken Corner Case two weeks to accomplish. The quality of their output is much higher, as well. I feel confident that what they produce is something that I could put in the hands of our clients. Compared to before, we’ve had a three-fold increase in our work velocity.
How did Corner Case Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
Corner Case is very flexible. All of our discussions are open and transparent. We have a lot of well-established day-to-day processes, and we work in an agile manner. However, we’re still in the process of refining our partnership. As we grow larger, we might move towards a more standardized sprint or scrum schedule.
Their team is very self-sufficient. We simply agree on priorities, and they would take it from there. Their seniority and expertise give me the confidence to let them take over the development. I don’t need to go into too much detail about every requirement; they can figure it out themselves.
We communicate over a shared Slack channel and use Jira to coordinate our different activities and priorities.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Compared to other offshoring companies, the ratio of their price to the quality of their work is very much at the top. They deliver with excellent speed and are highly innovative, which is helpful for a company of our size.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, they’ve been great since day one. There has been only one instance when we needed to double-check something because of the quality, but that was more on us and not them.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Corner Case is very well versed in working in an agile manner, so if you’re looking to do frequent iterations and establish constant feedback loops, they’re the company for you. I’m not sure how they will fare with being onboarded into a large company’s established internal processes, but it will do you good to listen to their ideas and perspectives because they have the ability to come up with their own ideas.

Please describe your company and your position there.
GlobeTrott travel is a travel start-up. Our vision is to make exploring new destinations easier, by curating personalized audio tours and a platform from trip planning. I am the Founder and the CEO of GlobeTrott Travel.
For what projects/services did your company hire Corner Case Technologies, and what were your goals?
Corner Case Technologies were hired to develop the MVP and V1 of the product. The initial conversation took place when the product was at the idea stage, so the team not only developed the product but have also provided guidance and consultancy along the way we were identifying the needed features, UX, UI and the overall user journey.
How did you select Corner Case Technologies and what were the deciding factors?
The development of the product was discussed with 3 different companies, all of whom came with strong recommendations. Key criteria for choosing the development partner were:
- Approach from the supplier
- are they going to deliver exactly what is asked or will they share feedback and recommendations from their experience
- Experience in building mobile apps
- Price and time (how long will it take to develop)
- Does the team believe in the product It was clear that Corner Case Technology is the preferred partner after the first few meetings.
They have asked many questions and sent me back to do additional research, so that the product that will be developed would really meet the market needs. The team was interested not only to win the project, but to ensure that they really deliver value and create a strong MVP.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
I have met Corner Case Technologies at the time when the business idea was still being validated to understand how much the initial development costs would be. During the meeting, I have received a list of information that I need to provide, so that they could start the development.
A rough estimate on how much it would cost to develop the prototype based on initial wireframes was provided, though I was strongly encouraged to work with UX & UI designers first and get the project requoted once the scope has been very clearly clarified. Once a clear user journey within the mobile app and the wireframes have been agreed upon, a quote has been provided.
After signing the agreement the kick-off meeting was with the project manager. Discussed all of the information that they already had (scope, market research), next steps of information that were needed, who is the team, how we will be communicating, etc.
Each meeting with the team members very well structures, followed by the next steps - that have always been delivered on time. Throughout the product development, the PM has been forthcoming with questions, which meant they were resolved quickly and no assumptions were made.
During the duration of the project, the team have provided consultancy services at the initial set-up stages and development once the scope has been confirmed.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
9 people Project Manager UI Designer CTO CPO COO Developers
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
The product was delivered on time and working with Corner Case Team has been a real pleasure. I was able to share updated wire frames with target customer thought the process to conduct the needed research. The product has not been launch to the market yet, as the content side (Corner Case are not responsible for this deliverable) is not complete.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
We had a weekly meeting that was lead by PM. Project updates were shared and any questions were answered. Clear meeting minutes, next steps and timelines were communicated after every meeting.
During the kick-off meeting clear communications and responsibilities were allocated, so right away everyone knew their responsibilities and scope for decision making. Used a mix of Slack and E-mail for communications.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Their willingness to go the extra mile and asking questions. For me it was very clear that they want to build good product and not only write some code based on clients requirements. The communication was always very clear and everything was delivered within the agreed timelines.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Very happy with the experience and I highly recommend them! Initially some meetings were quite lengthy, as the team have not only asked questions, but also shared opinions on how the problem could be solved in several different ways.
I would have liked the meetings to have been shorter, though the insights that have been shared were invaluable, so it was really good that the team was so willing to share their expertise.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CTO at a startup venture capital firm.
What challenge were you trying to address with Corner Case Technologies?
I’m in the process of launching a new company and we wanted to develop the MVP for our application. We were looking to get people on board to help us build it with a short lead time compared to normal hiring time. We needed someone who could be flexible.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They’re developing the MVP of our app. It’s a product that has a SaaS and hardware component. Corner Case Technologies is helping with the SaaS component. We have a backend in Python and Django and a frontend in React.
What is the team composition?
I’ve been working as the project manager on the project. I work directly with the developers.
How did you come to work with Corner Case Technologies?
I found them online. I shortlisted 6-7 companies. I chose Corner Case Technologies because of their English was better than the other teams I was talking to. They had a more holistic approach to development. Working with them has been much similar to working with developers coming from Denmark, Germany, or the U.S. with regards to interaction with the product, coming up with ideas on their own, and giving feedback and suggestions of ways of doing things.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent €50,000 (approximately $55,000 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in February 2020 and we are still working together.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
I’m satisfied with them. The released codes have been pretty consistent. I don’t have any quantified data.
How did Corner Case Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
I handled the project management. It’s been good. They’re good at being flexible and making adjustments as requirements change. We communicate via Slack. I do a daily 10-15 minute standup with them in the morning to talk about what’s going on, the progress, and to answer questions on the tasks. I’m available on chat for any questions. For more complicated things, we have a call to clarify anything that’s unclear or missing.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I can’t speak comparatively to anyone. They’ve been very responsive.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Two of the developers were working part-time because they were working on other projects. It was agreed upon, but there could have been a bit more clarity as to exactly which days they were on which project.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Share as much as possible about the product and your vision. When we started the project, we went to their office for two days to work with the guys there to onboard them on the project we’re working on, why we’re doing it, and setting the ground framework for technology choices and the approach to solving it. That was quite successful.

For what projects/services did your company hire Corner Case Technologies?
We wanted CCT to give us more manpower with our software development. The project was done based on research and request from our existing clients. It's something that we wanted to do for a long time, but haven't had the chance to do with only one developer in-house.
What were your goals for this project?
We need extra manpower, since we only have one developer in-house. The goal was to redesign and implement a new look and tech stack (React) for the front end
How did you select this vendor?
We googled a lot and also reached out to our network in VIlnius. We talked to 3 firms previously, we've done many trips to Vilnius before. They've earned our trust during the years. The two founders of our company.
Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.
Well. Redesign a part of the application with a new UX and a new way of looking at the data/tasks. Then implement this, both in the front and the back end. The requriements were that the front and back end should be separated. The dashboard is always performance intense, so a lot of thinking was done there, in order to optimise the performance.
What was the team composition?
1 UX person, who did a re-design of the dashboard. 1 Front End person who implemented the new design in new tech. 1 Back End person who helped with the back end stuff.
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
Not yet, we are still only allowing beta tester access to this functionlity. But we've managed to activate some users who were about to churn.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
Slack, github and whereby. No language barrier. The individuals involved worked really hard to deliver on deadline. Very impressed by their effort.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
I don't know what's unique. They are a solid firm with good staff, and they're flexible when it comes to arrangements.
Are there any areas for improvement?
Estimations. I know this is hard and not much to do, but we had to look at the budget to set the deadlines basically. ANd they delivered on the deadlines, but hard for me as the person in charge of the money.
