DASHBOARD APP: Making complex data actionable for Verizon's C-suite
The Business Problem
Verizon, as one of the largest corporations on the planet, produces mountains of internal data every day. If leveraged correctly, that data can give Verizon executives actionable intelligence to help them better do their jobs. Unfortunately, the C-Suite didn’t have mobile access to timely and usable data. They struggled to obtain key performance indicators for each business unit, and they could only access these KPIs via desktop or laptop computers. The user interface on this system was neither intuitive nor engaging and Verizon did not have the available internal development resources to tackle specific initiative. So, Verizon partnered with Copper Mobile to solve this problem.
The Result
Copper Mobile took the time to perform a deep discovery phase to fully understand the client’s business needs and any potential obstacles to development. This streamlined the process, eliminated inefficiencies, and reduced time to market. Furthermore, it ensured that the client received an app that made the most business sense for their specific needs.

Assignments were doled out before they went into the field and priorities could not be changed except by phone. They approached Copper Mobile with the idea of building a project management mobile solution to solve these problems.

Helping a telcom giant unleash a valuable sales channel
The Business Problem
Value Added Resellers’ (VARs) sales comprise a healthy percentage of Cisco’s revenue portfolio. This group needs to be efficient and successful in order to maximize Cisco’s profits. But, the UC320 product portfolio is complex, both for the VAR sales staff as well as the intended customer, small businesses. Cisco realized they needed a way to promote product fluency within their sales staff while at the same time providing them with a sales aide that could inform small business owners about the advantages of the UC320 product line without alienating those customers with overly technical jargon.
The Result
Copper Mobile was able to build an end-to-end solution for every relevant party — Cisco, the VARs and their prospective customers. We interfaced extensively with Cisco and their VARs to build the
most effective solution possible. By working to solve Cisco's specific business problem, we were able to deliver a solution tailored to their needs that helped Cisco excel.

Mobile App Development for Text Space App
"Everything they bring to the table is what makes us stick with them, and they’ve been meeting our expectations."

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the president of a text-space mobile application interface; we focus on eliminating paper receipts during any transaction within the US.
What challenge were you trying to address with Copper Mobile?
We needed help with the creation of our mobile app.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Copper has been developing an Android and iOS mobile app for our company that’ll run through Native. Before diving into full app development, they did the mockup for the product we wanted to create. We met with Copper’s team for two consecutive weeks; in the first week, we did in-person meetings, and the second one was full of virtual encounters where we went through the functionality, layout, and other details of the app. The platform we’re building focuses on eliminating all paper-based receipts by doing a digital transaction of every ticket.
In addition to that, they’ll do maintenance and updates for our app and website as well.
What is the team composition?
We’ve been working with at least 15 members of their team, including Gaurab (Project Manager), who is our main point of contact.
How did you come to work with Copper Mobile?
We found them by doing online research.
How much have you invested with them?
The total cost of the project will be around $20,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in June 2021, and the engagement is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
They go above and beyond with their work and commitment to help us grow our company — everything they bring to the table is what makes us stick with them, and they’ve been meeting our expectations.
How did Copper Mobile perform from a project management standpoint?
They’re excellent at sticking to our schedule and budget. In terms of tools and communication, we use Slack, Skype, and Jira.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their attention to detail and responsiveness is what distinguishes them from other providers. Also, their on-demand problem solving is one of their key strengths.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They could streamline their meetings management to avoid going through the same topics over and over again.
Any advice for potential customers?
Have a detailed itinerary for scheduled meetings and stick to it.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I own a photo app company. We provide services to newspapers and corporate communications departments.
What challenge were you trying to address with Copper Mobile?
We needed to develop a new app.

Copper Mobile rebuilt our app from scratch in Swift. We wanted to add new features as well as change the branding. The app gives users the ability to transmit pictures from a field location to a searchable archive. Currently, we’re in the testing phase.
What is the team composition?
I worked with a designer, and a coder, and a project manager.
How did you come to work with Copper Mobile?
I found them via word of mouth. After talking with them, they seemed transparent and sincere. They seemed like the best company to go with.
How much have you invested with them?
I've spent $32,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in November 2020, and our work is ongoing with testing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The project has been very successful. The team is timely and able to articulate their work. They’ve been patient. All the deliverables have been right on point. I’m enjoying the process and currently talking with them about another build.

They’re great a communication. Everything has been right on time. I haven’t been disappointed at all. We communicate via Microsoft Teams and email.

Are there any areas they could improve?
No, they’re a great company. They go out of their way to understand and meet customer needs.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
I would definitely refer them as a vendor. I haven’t seen their level of integrity anywhere else in this industry. They didn’t take advantage of the fact that I’m not a technical person.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the owner and Creative Director of Bell'INVITO Stationery and home. We are a full service design-through-production company for fine paper products and style accents.
For what projects/services did your company hire Copper Mobile, and what were your goals?
We needed to recreate a website from scratch on a new platform that could grow with us. Copper Mobile helped us out of a very tough spot we were left in by a previous company who defaulted on the project. I was impressed by their promptness, organization, and overall can-do attitude.
How did you select Copper Mobile and what were the deciding factors?
I interviewed at least 5 firms following a terrible default situation. Copper Mobile proved early on they were honest and stood by their work. Most of the other firms I interviewed wanted up front money and didn't commit to that paying for anything but time to try what they couldn't guarantee.
Copper Mobile proved they could solve the problem before they asked me for any sort of contract.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
There is way too much they have done in the course of the past 18 months or so to give all the details, but they have built and launched our new Magento website, implemented custom portions that are essential to our industry and unique to our business, and are in the process of upgrading our behind the scenes business-to-business platform that is the backbone of our very intricate custom order intake system.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
More have jumped in to help if needed, but primarily: Rupak, co-founder / CEO Manish, project manager Anil, Navneet, Varun, programming
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
Our consumer-facing site was launched beautifully. As is typical, bugs popped up and the team diligently problem-solved to get past the issues. The busines-to-business portion is still in the works. We are pleased with the progress and looking forward to a launch in the upcoming weeks.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
The operate in sprints and we liked that it clearly set deadlines for both parties. They have always been on top of communications, even through this past year of uncertainty.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Their positive attitude, knowledge base, and transparency are impressive. I appreciated that they were willing to help us learn to be self-sufficient in troubleshooting so our small business could be practical in saving money on issues we could learn to resolve internally.
Are there any areas for improvement?
Communication can always improve. Timing can always improve. I'm very happy with their work and would both hire them again and would (and have) recommend them.

Android & iOS Devs for Mobile Banking Company
"Copper provided us with access to bright talent that we wouldn’t have otherwise had on the project."

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a UX designer for a mobile banking company. We provide debit card services to customers of various large brands in addition to our own products.
What challenge were you trying to address with Copper Mobile?
We had an ambitious project to complete in a condensed timeline and needed additional development capacity.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Copper mobilized a team of about 20 people in short order to help us meet our goal of building a new app with a new code framework. They used Swift to build the iOS platform and Kotlin to develop the Android version.
Their team conceived of and created the engine behind the theme functionality, making the entire UI customizable at a click of a button. This process involves managing assets and global configurations as well as switching core elements on the fly while the user engages the app.
What is the team composition?
We worked with 10–12 developers across both platforms, 5–6 QA people, one development lead on each side, and a project manager.
How did you come to work with Copper Mobile?
The engagement was secured by another member of my team who also handled all of the negotiations.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent over $1 million on their development and UX resources combined.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started the project in June 2019, and it’s ongoing. We’re currently working with their UX team in addition to lingering development resources.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Their two development leads stood out in their abilities to conceive of this theme functionality from scratch. We didn’t have the talent in house to create that feature.
How did Copper Mobile perform from a project management standpoint?
We use JIRA and Confluence to manage tasks. Throughout the development, Copper kept stories moving down the pipeline. Their team took our input and then turned it into the output we expected.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Given our location and industry, we don’t necessarily have the first pick of developers. Copper provided us with access to bright talent that we wouldn’t have otherwise had on the project.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I didn’t feel that there was a sense of direct ownership of the project throughout the entire development team. There were certain people on the team who were highly engaged and personally took on challenges.
Other people on the team were happy to let stories slide. There could be more dedication and personal ownership among all of the developers.

Please describe your company and your position there.
My name is Gaurav Henry, and I am the co-founder at Hindistandukkan.com, an e-commerce platform exclusively for handcrafted bridal wear. We are based out of Turkey and have manufacturing units in India. We create bespoke handcrafted fabrics and bridal wear.
Most of our clients are bridal wear manufacturers/stores-owners who are looking for high-quality handmade fabrics, appliques, and gowns for their retail stores. Currently, we supply to some top designers/manufacturers like Adi Shlomo (Israel, US, Hongkong), Slanovsky (Ukraine) just to name a few.
For what projects/services did your company hire Copper Mobile?
We hired Copper Mobile to build our E-commerce and AR mobile app to showcase and sell our products better to our target audience.
What were your goals for this project?
Our goal is to expand our outreach. Right now we on top of the search engines in Turkey for our focus keywords "handcrafted bridal wear", however, we want to expand more to the US market.
How did you select this vendor?
We checked the ranking on Clutch and reached out to the top developers in Dallas( As we are opening our stores there). After speaking with 5-6 vendors, we decided to go with Copper Mobile
Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.
Copper Mobile helped us build our iOS and Android applications, both B2B and B2C. It's an ongoing engagement, where for the next 2 years they would be building our AR capabilities as well.
Owing to the pandemic Arvind from Copper Mobile recommended us to build AR apps instead of investing in brick and mortar stores, which was a valuable suggestion. Not only are they helping us with adoption of technology, but also helping us fine-tune our strategy.
What was the team composition?
We hired 4 developers, (2 Android. 2 iOS), 1 Quality Analyst, 1 Business Analyst, 1 Project Manager
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
So far we have been amazed by Copper Mobile's excellent approach towards building our app. Our app is still under development, however, the AR models created by Rupak and his team helped us secure more clients in this pandemic! It created a lot of opportunities for us to reach out to prospects when everything was shut down!
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
Our project manager is Pankaj. He's always promptly on a call with our team every day. They call it the SCRUM call. It's good to have an overview of what's happening as daily activities and gives us valuable insights.
One of our managers gets updated about daily activities and progress through software called JIRA. So far we have an excellent idea of the tasks which have been accomplished and the ones which are planned for the next Sprint.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Copper Mobile's team is awesome, especially the leadership team. Rupak, Arvind, Manish are very proactive in giving us insights and letting us know about the development.
Are there any areas for improvement?
We found our perfect technology partners! They gave us more than we asked for!

System Development for Nuclear Tech Company
“…their full-time resources are technologically excellent, working efficiently to deliver as expected if not more.”
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
Our company provides manufacturing services for nuclear reactors and systems within the energy business. We also create nuclear fuel to support energy facility outages. In my role, I lead our mobile app development initiative.
What challenge were you trying to address with Copper Mobile?
Energy production companies need to take down a portion of their facilities at intervals in order to refuel and do inspections and maintenance. To keep track of this process, companies typically use spreadsheets and emails, which can be cumbersome. Instead, we wanted to build a more sophisticated system that consists of a mobile app, a web frontend, and backend services.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Since we lacked the internal resources to lead the requirement phase, Copper Mobile worked closely with both stakeholders and prospective end users to gather the requirements. They then created the UI/UX design before executing the development.
The system features a complex database schema with several storage procedures and a SQL server. Their team built the web app, created the iOS mobile app using Swift, and developed the backend services with .NET and C#. We’re now in a pilot phase, testing the system with users and making corrections as necessary.
What is the team composition?
We’ve worked with a number of people, including on- and offshore developers and a requirement gathering lead. Currently, they’ve assigned a full-time team member to support our mobile app, and we’ve occasionally relied on their offshore resources.
How did you come to work with Copper Mobile?
We’d already engaged Copper Mobile before I joined the project, so I’m not sure how we found them. I do know that we’d worked with them for other apps prior.
What is the status of this engagement?
Their work started in May 2018 and is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’re not in production yet, so I can’t say what the gains are. However, we see potential in the new system. Compared to using spreadsheets and email to coordinate outages, the apps are definitely superior. Currently, Copper Mobile is conducting a pilot test with users to see if they’ve missed any requirements and are resolving issues as needed.
How did Copper Mobile perform from a project management standpoint?
I’ve mostly been involved in the inception and pilot phases, so I haven’t worked closely with everyone. But, in my experience, they’ve performed well. They’re responsive and eager to deliver the best job possible. I appreciate that they listen carefully to our needs, and they always deliver in a timely manner.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I worked closely with Arvind (Co-Founder, Copper Mobile), who has been involved since the beginning. It’s easy to communicate with him, and he’s always willing to do what’s necessary to get the job done. Moreover, their full-time resources are technologically excellent, working efficiently to deliver as expected if not more.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, I can’t think of anything. It’s been a great relationship overall. Once we move into production, we’ll likely have an even better story to tell.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Clients have to take ownership of the initial analysis and requirements phase. In our case, this wasn’t possible, so Copper Mobile stepped in to support us.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CTO of an app that makes restaurant recommendations for users based on their food order history.
What challenge were you trying to address with Copper Mobile?
We needed someone to augment our internal development team to speed up the work on our app.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Copper Mobile provided an experienced resource that worked on-site with our in-house team. The app utilizes a user’s past food order history to predict and make recommendations for other restaurants they might like. Together, Copper Mobile and our internal developers worked on Android development. We’ve now moved the project to solely in-house.
What is the team composition?
We worked with one developer.
How did you come to work with Copper Mobile?
A friend referred them, and we were in a hurry, so we hired them immediately.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from June–September 2018.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
They achieved exactly what we wanted and did high-quality work.
How did Copper Mobile perform from a project management standpoint?
They had excellent communication and were extremely responsive. They kept to our timeline and integrated well with our internal team.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They were responsive and quickly provided the resources we needed.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, it was a small engagement, and the work satisfied us.
Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?
No.

E-commerce Web Dev & Design for Products Company

the review
The client submitted this review online.
Please describe your company and your position there.
Sellmark develops, acquires, manufactures, markets, sells, and distributes outdoor products. We are dedicated to building successful brands.
For what projects/services did your company hire Copper Mobile?
We wanted a fully customized frontend for three of our brands' e-commerce pages. We have our own CMS to manage all our brands, which makes it difficult to find companies willing to work outside of the cookie cutter systems such as Magento and Drupal.
What were your goals for this project?
We wanted to maintain control of website content from our central CMS while still allowing for our brands' unique voice to be displayed. It was going to be difficult to achieve.
How did you select this vendor?
We were impressed by their previous work on a custom quiz and by their willingness to work outside the box. They didn't charge extravagant prices and conduct needless meetings.
Can you go into detail about the services they provided and the scope of the project?
Using the Agile format, Copper Mobile took time to learn our business and its requirements. They produced the frontend for three uniquely branded websites, which we tied to our CMS to provide dynamically driven content.
What was the team composition?
The team consisted of a project manager, a lead software engineer, and a lead designer. There may have been more people working in the background.
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
We were able to continue using our own CMS to manage our branded sites, which was important to keep our SaaS costs low.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
They managed the project perfectly using the Agile method. Delivering solutions within our budget and meeting all deadlines, their team was extremely effective.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
We were impressed by their willingness to listen and understand our story as a whole.
Are there any areas where they can improve?
There was little they could've improved. We have some delays, but it was because we asked them to change our story, which made them have to adjust their work.

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I am the marketing manager for a nationwide distributor of industrial maintenance, repair, and manufacturing supplies. We operate fully stocked mobile industrial hardware stores, which bring mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and chemical items to your business and work sites.
What challenge were you trying to address with Copper Mobile?
Our catalog of parts we offer our customers has grown, with access to over 1000,000+ parts. We’ve tried interactive PDFs, along with our website and they are not as fast or reactive as we want them to be. Many of our clients work in remote areas or buildings that have limited cell service or WiFi and we wanted an app that could get our products into the hands of our customers that worked both online as well as offline.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We provided all of the information for our products, the images and the descriptions, as well as our how-to videos, knowledge-based websites, and promotional items. They worked with us on what to organize and streamline, so that everything on our end was ready for them to do what they do best. We wanted Android and iOS apps of our entire catalog. They created those two apps and a third one—an admin panel that maintains both of them.
What is the team composition?
We had a project manager, and there were different leads for the separate app teams.
How did you come to work with Copper Mobile?
We interviewed them and five other companies. I wanted to work with somebody local to streamline communication and meet face-to-face if necessary. We have a niche market, and Copper Mobile recognized that right away. They liked us and we liked them.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent $25,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from October 2017 to March 2018.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The apps better serve our customers than our previous methods. Our customers are now able to find products faster and ones they didn't even know we carried. It puts more at their fingertips, including tech and SDS sheets. Having our materials at the ready has made a tremendous difference in how we operate and the next level of service that our customers deserve. All of our products and promotional specials are now more visible, along with making it easier for our customers to get in touch with their local Territory Manager. The app has been faster than searching for something in the paper catalog, and it's 2-3 times faster than using the interactive PDF or website. We plan to collaborate on two more apps in the future.
How did Copper Mobile perform from a project management standpoint?
We used Google Drive for file sharing. They preferred to work with a messaging platform, but I preferred email and texting, and their responsiveness was uninhibited. I interacted with the project manager daily. I served as the liaison between their team and our team. They quickly found solutions to our questions. They’re honest and clear. When certain components were outside the original scope, they didn’t shy away from the challenge and instead said they would find an answer. The customer service was top-notch.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Unlike other vendors, Copper Mobile didn’t add in any fluff to the final project, meaning that they didn’t say one thing and then change it mid-project. We told them what our project was, and they told us the reality they could achieve with our budget. They delivered what was promised within that budget and more.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, I can’t think of any improvements.
Any advice for potential customers?
I would recommend asking as many questions as necessary in order to understand the technical complexities. They’re a patient team and will take the time to provide clarity.

It was all on the development side but there was some consulting as well. They came up with a demo app that I was able to use for investors. It was for the iPhone. They also created a series of investor pages, profiles, and other things relating to the industry.
What was your process for selecting Copper Mobile with which to work?
It was word of mouth. I asked a bunch of people in Texas whom I trusted and then I interviewed three different groups.

[It was from] $10,000 to $50,000
