We hired Contenteam for a copyright job. What we needed was to transform the presentation deck into a proper detailed article.

We have contracted several vendors to do the job. The inital contact was made through the Telegram chat.

Contenteam was suppose to take the presentation (1200+ words) and create an Article explaining all the points in detail (5000 words)

What was the team composition?

As far as I could understand the team was composed of the topic expert writer, editor and the English native editor, plus the manager of the project.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

There is none. We have never used the resulting Article, due to lack of quality.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

There was clearly some major misscommunication between their Sales representative and the project manager. The task was completely misunderstood. I have clearly explained what was needed from their team: a 5000 words article based on a presentation deck, which would provide an easy to understand information on topic of GamiFi and Earn-to-Play related services. The sales representative, after initial estimate, informed me that they can do this. I asked for the online meeting just to do a basic due diligence on their abilities. I was assured that it can all be done once again. They had the presentation deck, they reviewed it and we agreed to proceed.

After 5 working days as promissed, I was presented with an Article containing 1460 works, which is basically 260 words longer than our own presentation. I wasn't sure what to think of it. Initial thought was to take the money back an run, but I wasn't offered such option. The first proposal from Contenteam was along the lines of "well, this is shorter then you wanted, but you can use the rest of the money for other Articles". Having paid $500 for 5000 words, I was confused. Then I was told by the project manager that the task wasn't completed correctly, because I have never submitted the Project Description file.

Not once I was told that I was suppose to submit such file. Moreover, she claimed she was unaware of the size that I required, as "the sales representative never told her about it". After another 4 days they delivered an expanded version, which was still 4550 words long. A couple of grammar mistakes, hard-to-read sentences and barely passable quality of the content - was what I got. Once again, my demands to explain the situation new excuses came to light. It appeared that they were writing a White Paper, which I have never mentioned anywhere. I just needed an Article.

Then I was told that they actually did the data research for the content that "costs much more than what I have paid". Once again - never asked for this, but it was presented to me as a favor they did. Another exciting insight was that "your content can not be made easy to read". Basically our content suddenly was equal to quantum physics theories written in Chinese. And the final nail was the claim that "your presentation does not have sufficient amount of content for us to expand upon". Wait, what? Shouldn't that have been discovered before the start of the project or at least as a first stage?

Ah, and by the way, our article was written by their top copywriter for the feild of Blockchain and Crypto space. I think it was supposed to convince me that the quality of a delived text is a highest there is on the market. Low and behold, after pointing out the above, I was reminded that I still have 2 revision cycles and they are ready to continue working on it. Suffice to say, that was where I ended the cooperation.

The unfathomable desire to talk themselves out of a clear lack of professionalism

Is there any area for improvement or anything that could have been done differently?

Less excuses more solutions. Find better writers and experts. Make sure you understand the task before accepting the payment. Return the money if you can't deliver.
