the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I'm the project coordinator at a historic community theater in London, Ontario.
What challenge were you trying to address with Consensus Creative?
We needed to redesign our website to achieve our company goals.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Consensus Creative designed and developed our website; they also helped establish branding guidelines. While working with them, we outlined our company goals and the image of our company as a historic landmark. It was essential to us that the visuals of our historic building be incorporated into the website design. Our site requirements included functions to facilitate increasing our patrons through ticket sales, donations to our nonprofit, and membership sign-ups. We also needed the site to be easy to navigate.
Consensus Creative's worked closely with us to develop a work plan; their team made platform recommendations. Once we finalized the plan, Consensus Creative designed the website, implementing the requested elements and assets. The design included photos, videos, and content that captured our mission.
Since our theater volunteers took over the site, Consensus Creative has provided video tutorials and manuals outlining how to use the site. Consensus Creative now serves as a consultant — they help us make site updates that reflect our playbill.
What is the team composition?
I worked with the project manager.
How did you come to work with Consensus Creative?
I found Consensus Creative through a referral but reached out to several companies. In the end, based on their approach and our goals, we hired Consensus Creative.
How much have you invested with them?
We've invested $7,000–$14,000 with Consensus Creative.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our engagement with Consensus Creative began in November 2021, and it's ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The website has launched recently, so we're still establishing quantitative metrics. However, when I surveyed the individuals who previewed the site, we had 97%–98% approval. We've also seen an 85% increase in website logins.
How did Consensus Creative perform from a project management standpoint?
Consensus Creative has been excellent at communicating through Zoom meetings, email, text messages, and phone calls. Their team promptly responds to my messages — I get responses to any questions I have within a few hours. I always have a centralized point of contact.
Their team has provided me access to website previews throughout the project so I can see the changes and development as the project progresses. Consensus Creative also communicates project content through Google Docs — I've been able to submit comments via Google Docs and have them replied to quickly.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Consensus Creative has fully invested themselves in determining who we are as a theater company and our goals. The extensive detailing they've done throughout the project, highlighting everything from our primary to secondary goals and appearance, has been profound.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I have nothing for Consensus Creative to improve.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
I'd advise customers to immediately begin working with the workbook Consensus Creative provides because it establishes the customer's vision and aligns it with the work being performed by the designer. This tool helps the client and designer built the framework, content and branding goals of the website. The workbook comment section offered an effective way of detailing important development information.

Toronto Arts Academy (Web Design & Development)
Toronto Arts Academy is a top-rated arts school with the most awards in the GTA region. Producing top 10 artists like The Weekend, the academy produced countless performers across Canada and the US.
The website's design was carefully crafted to get visitors to submit an inquiry, according to all the conversion psychology design techniques. After relying for years on Google and Facebook ads for new leads, the redesign increased the site's Google ranking and increased conversions by over 450%, removing the need for the marketing team to spend money on ads! This means more net profit for the academy without any additional work, directly as a result of the website re-design.
The project was an astounding success and resulted in further work, redesigning the website singersedge.com (academy's sister brand).

Please describe your company and your position there.
Owner of an education consulting company.
For what projects/services did your company hire Consensus Creative, and what were your goals?
We hired Consensus Creative to develop and help design our new website for an education consulting company. The goal was a modern, trustworthy, and professional website. Consensus Creative achieved this perfectly and beyond our expectations.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We searched online and were impressed by the reviews. After speaking to Art, it was clear that he understood our company goals and that he and his team had high-level expertise. Moreover, it was obvious that Art genuinely cared about our success as a company because he provided unique insights to help us succeed.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
The website involved 10+ pages through Wordpress and also e-commerce functionality. We supplied a general idea and the team produced a first draft of the website. They then revised the website according to our specifications.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
As far as we can tell, we only worked with Art. He designed and developed the website.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
It is too early to provide measurable outcomes. However, the website has helped elevate our brand and we have received many positive comments regarding the look and functioning of the website.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
We corresponded over email regularly. Art was very quick in his replies and always professional in responding to our feedback. He also never left a question unanswered and provided very clear answers.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
They are experts at what they are doing and genuinely care for your success.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
None that I can identify.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I'm the founder of a construction firm that designs homes built to be experienced, not just to be lived in.
For what projects/services did your company hire Consensus Creative, and what were your goals?
We reached out to Art to help develop a digital marketing strategy for our new upcoming project on Lake Simcoe.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We had an introductory chat with Art who immediately made a strong impression with his knowledge of the digital marketing space but also his keen willingness to go above and beyond. It was quite clear Art had a legitimate interest in our success, which in today's world is very rare.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and marking tools used.
Art explained us the entire digital landscape, laid out the choices and discussed the pros and cons of each approach. He even identified online tutorials and resources that would better help navigate the digital landscape which was truly helpful.
How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We worked with Art only.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
We are still in the process of creating our campaign.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
The workflow was very smooth. Art always made himself available and was more than wiling to spend any amount of time to ensure the job gets done.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
The focus on customer service was quite evident. They say customer service is an attitude, not a department. Art certainly has that attitude.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Nothing comes to mind.

Please describe your company and your position there.
HGM Consulting Corp. is a Canadian consulting firm that operates on a turn-key project basis in the Americas, Eastern Europe, Central & East Asia. Our company provides consulting support services along with access to its international network of private investors. At the time I was on the advisory board.
For what projects/services did your company hire Consensus Creative, and what were your goals?
We hired Consensus Creative to design and develop our website, hgmconsulting.ca. They also assisted us with graphic design and making our brochures.
How did you select Consensus Creative and what were the deciding factors?
We selected Consensus Creative to design our site based on a number of references we received from their clients. We considered multiple providers and after a month of searching for the right agency, we decided to go with Consensus, just because they were the best ones. We were inclined to hire them due to their experience, portfolio and reviews.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
The first step in the process was a strategy call. The staff at Consensus then setup our web server, domain name, etc. and we began writing the content for our website. This took a few weeks to finalize. Then the website design process began, which was completed within a month, mostly we spent time on revisions.
How many people from the Consensus Creative team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We have worked with the owner of the agency as well as their graphic designer, in total two people. They were helpful and accommodating to our requests.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
Our new website is our digital brochure. It attracts clients, tells leads about our services, and shows who we are to our stakeholders. This is now an invaluable resource to our company, as this is where most of our clients contact us and where they learn about our services. We have only heard good comments about the website.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
The project management style was very effective – the work was completed in a timely manner, the staff was available to take phone calls quickly. We enjoyed working with them.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Their quality of work was outstanding. They are also very flexible, and were able to do Zoom calls on weekends and evenings.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
I don’t have anything in mind for this.

I'm an artist/painter focusing on landscapes in the BC area.

Recently I started minting my works as NFTs. I needed a website where people can mint the NFTs (buy them from me) as well as see my past works and what I'm working on at the moment.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
I selected Consensus Creative because I knew another client that had used them, and had great results.
Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.
The project consisted of two parts - the web site design and development, and the NFT part (integration of wallets). Consensus Creative took care of both of these parts. The entire process took a few weeks.
How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
Art from CC worked with me, as well as his blockchain developer.

The outcome was that now I have an amazing new website, where people can see and buy my work from me using crypto.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
It was very effective, and efficient. Everything was done fairly quickly and it was very easy for me to make revisions by clicking anywhere on the website.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
The quality of their work was impressive. Also, they consulted me on how to best approach marketing my website and my work. They didn't charge me for this, so that was a nice surprise.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
I think they're perfect.

What is the team composition?

We started working together around November 2020, and our engagement is ongoing. I reach out to them whenever we need a new update or feature added.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am a CEO of a tutoring company. We work with high school students to teach them science.
For what projects/services did your company hire Consensus Creative?
Our website required a revamp in 2021 and Consensus Creative did a great job with improving the experience design of our website. They also created our landing page.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
The web designer was a referral who let us know that they have done an excellent job in the past. Between others we have considered, they also offered the best overall package for a reasonable price, promising quality. We also had a consultation meeting with Consensus Creative before starting any paid work, and were surprised by how much useful information they were able to provide for free right away.
They explained how we could make the website be more attractive to visitors, what the current issues are with it, etc. We were inclined to hire them.
Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.
After the free consultation meeting, we hired them right away to implement everything they have been describing regarding website improvements. We provided them with a word document with the information and its structure that should appear in the final website and landing pages, as well as some photos, and they went ahead and redesigned our website in a more modern, attractive way that is now easier to use.
Consensus Creative made a total of three drafts, until we were satisfied, with no additional cost per draft. They said they could do more if we wanted, but it was well done by the third, after around three weeks of work. It took another few days to receive our completed landing page and one revision before it was how we wanted it, within the same week.
Overall, great communication and speed of delivery by Consensus, given they were a small agency (in 2021 at least) and had several other concurrent clients.
How many resources from the Consensus Creative team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We worked with two people - their chief designer and CEO as well as their marketing expert who helped connect the website and landing page to a marketing funnel and advised on marketing-related aspects of the website prior to the production of the final draft. A third person on their team was helping their chief designer, designing some sections of the website that their chief designer had previously drafted in Photoshop or another Adobe program.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Our website and landing page received many compliments from the staff of the business incubator we were a part of and worked with at the time, as well as from some of our clients who we've briefly interviewed after their tutoring program was completed. We also observed an increase in our client base, having improved our marketing overall with the help of Consensus Creative.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Consensus was busy with other clients at the same time as with us, however that didn't prevent them from replying over the messaging program Slack within an hour. We mostly used instant messaging on Slack for communication, where it was easier to exchange files, etc. than over email.
By the end of the project, they had switched over to Discord for their communication with clients and it was only a click of a link that took us there for the remainder of communication. The workflow was overall smooth and not problematic. Only the first draft took a while, although that was expected and within their contract, and all future implementations were done within very short timeframes.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
It was a positive experience of learning in which Consensus Creative spared a lot of time to explain basic web design to us so that we can make future changes on our own, if needed, without their help. So, They were helpful even though it potentially meant they would lose some future revenue from us.
It was unexpected kindness from them, beyond the "call of duty" written into the contract we signed.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
While this posed no problem in our project's case, the overall timeline of the project could be shorter if Consensus will expand their team with one or two more designers, so it's not so much all up to their chief designer. The project's timeline was written into the contract and the deadlines were all met, however these could have been set such that the project is overall shorter.
The website had a major overhaul but it's not very complex, so could have been done one week sooner for sure if more people worked on their team.

Co-Owner of a place where community members come to get a sweat on, get motivated and achieve their goals.
For what projects/services did your company hire Consensus Creative, and what were your goals?
We had very minimal web experience which lead to a very minimal, old user experience. I hired someone to completely re-invent our website from scratch. Our goal was to have a website that was clean, easy to navigate for our community members and a way to close deals on the home page.
How did you select Consensus Creative and what were the deciding factors?
We chose 6 people that could possibly do what we were envisioning - with that said, we had a visual meet up via Zoom, where we got to hear expertise on our vision. We built a basic plan with each interviewer and picked the best suited, like minded person to go forward with our website.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
We had a initial meeting discussing a very basic strategy and tactic that will work for our clients. Easy to use, and appealing. After that - we chose our person to complete our website. We sat down for a second call to get more in depth - colours, key phrases, and need to have buttons and looks that match our vibe.
Our client got after it with the details made and created a basic format (offline) in 24 hours to then talk to us again to solidify our needs and wants. Website was then created in 10 days with bidaily updates to make adjustments throughout the process. 10th day, it was completed, ready to use.
How many people from the Consensus Creative team worked with you, and what were their positions?
1 web designer.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
Our clients were thrilled with how easy it was to book a trainer or class to join, which lead to a 67% increase on class participation. We had a 230% increase on new members come to the fitness centre after the first 3 months.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
We had biweekly updates that were directly implicated that same day or next day. Zoom was a very helpful tool that allowed us to see our work in process while being actively talking to our webdesigner. He hit every deadline when he said he was going to have steps done by.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Mainly, the ability to interact with us to find our true vision and then be able to reciprocate our idea in his own words so that he had the vision as well. Another really awesome thing, Their ability to hit our timely goals while implementing active changes we gave to them was impressive.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
The only thing I could think of, was there were a few bugs that happened right after launch, but then he fixed them within an hour of us contacting him.
