Frontend Development for Event Aggregation Startup
"Their timely and high-quality delivery was a constant highlight of our engagement."
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m one of the co-founders of Outlit, a startup built around the university and city experience. It would allow users to discover and attend events more easily. Our goal was to aggregate events from various different sources, feeding into a unique interface that allows for easy browsing.
What challenge were you trying to address with codeventure?
We were trying to create animations on the frontend using React Native to improve the solution’s UX/UI.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We had specific frontend requirements. We had a calendar — created in React Native — that we wanted to incorporate into our product. They modified this module to create a dual view, allowing users to switch between weekly and monthly views. They also designed animations between the two different views, which were aesthetically pleasing. They also developed animations to go over our mapping feature.
What is the team composition?
We worked with Emre (React Native Developer).
How did you come to work with codeventure?
We were working with another provider who recommended codeventure for their React Native expertise. The former told us that they would be able to execute iOS testing. We had a quick meeting with Emre, and he proved to be quick and communicative. Afterward, we tried to secure him for all his available time slots.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in March 2019 and wrapped up in June of that year.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Although our solution was put on hold due to COVID-19, they executed all the specific frontend deliverables we asked for.
Emre demonstrated exceptional integrity and honesty. I suspect that if he spent 10 hours trying to do something but didn’t accomplish it, he wouldn’t try to charge me. If he had availability now, I’d book him right away.
How did codeventure perform from a project management standpoint?
Since our engagement was limited to smaller, discrete projects, we didn’t need to use a big project management system. We used Zeppelin and Airtable to share data and communicate. Emre was very communicative and timely.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The best part of working with him was communication — I’d get constant updates involving something concrete. They were never hollow updates deferring news of incomplete work; instead, I’d get to see beautiful animations that would be properly executed. Their timely and high-quality delivery was a constant highlight of our engagement.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, I don’t really think so. It was a unique engagement in that Emre was really a referral by a friend.

UX/UI Element Implementation for Payment Processing Firm
"They deliver the results we want when we expect."

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CTO & co-founder of a US-based payments network that allows merchants to accept payments from customers. We have a revenue model that doesn’t depend on the interchange. We differ from existing competitors because we accept payments at a reduced fee.
What challenge were you trying to address with codeventure?
We had a number of different components that we needed to build out fairly quickly in order to get to a place where we could begin selling materials to merchants. That included a frontend experience to match the backend that we had built.
A lot of our products are built around the concept of easy integration and API. We wanted to make sure that extended, not only to an immersive experience but allowed them to interact with this API in a UI way. We also wanted consumers to have a robust and clean onboarding experience.
We reached out to codeventure to connect us with developers to improve our frontend experience.
What was the scope of their involvement?
One of our developers is the lead, and we use codeventure’s developers as supplementary resources. We outline specific operational goals that we want to achieve – detailing what we wanted implemented through strict design and development guidelines.
We let them know what needs to be done, and then they go off and implement it. After that, we have a code review process.
What is the team composition?
We’re working with two specific people from codeventure.
How did you come to work with codeventure?
I was already working with one of their partners with another project. I thought he was a great and professional resource. He let us know about codeventure and said if we needed more resources that we should just reach out and talk to him. He personally doesn’t focus on frontend work, so we decided to demo it out with codeventure for a month. We really liked working with them, so the engagement continued.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our engagement with codeventure started in July 2020.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We have a month-to-month contract with their developers, and we’re continuing to renew it. They deliver the results we want when we expect. I’m happy to work with codeventure.
How did codeventure perform from a project management standpoint?
We have a task tracker that allows us to assign work to them and give the developers specific goals. We also have a Slack channel where their developers interact with our team.
Two days a week, we have standups with them and our lead frontend developer to coordinate the week and our goals. We also have a daily standup that they’re always invited to, but because of time differences, that always doesn’t work out. At least one of them always joins.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The team at codeventure is great at catering to our specific needs. They’re able effectively deliver, while also aligning with our financial incentives and operational processes. They’re very valuable for us.
We do need to give them structure for specific tasks, but at this point, they work very independently and feel like an extension of our team.
Are there any areas they could improve?
There isn’t anything I can point to right now. An advantage that we have is that our lead developer maps out everything for them, so their side puts the parts together.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Defining the goals clearly is very important. If you know what you want and how to build it already, codeventure is a great resource.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I am responsible for marketing and product management in Turkey for MANN+HUMMEL. It’s a global filtration company, operating in the filtration sector.
What challenge were you trying to address with codeventure?
We wanted to develop an internal marketing intelligence tool.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They developed a customized reporting tool that visualized the data using an algorithm we created. They also created dimensions for three different locations.
What is the team composition?
There was a project manager and three full-stack developers.
How did you come to work with codeventure?
We found them on LinkedIn. They were the most cost-effective option out of the companies we considered.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent $50,000 with them.
What is the status of this engagement?
We began working together in May 2018, and it is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Before the introduction of the tool, we couldn’t visualize data and see the results. Now, with the tool, we can see them clearly. It makes a lot of calculations for us, and the reporting process is easier as a result.
How did codeventure perform from a project management standpoint?
They were very clear about the process. Communication was easy and the project manager was always available.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Despite the complexity of the structure, they successfully brought all of our expectations to life with a fully customized structure. They were very impressive, helping us when we weren’t sure exactly what we wanted.
Are there any areas they could improve?
It would be nice if they had an in-house design team.

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the technical manager at a media company in Turkey. We broadcast for TV and radio, and I’m responsible for our satellite transmissions and the encryption of TV channels.
What challenge were you trying to address with codeventure?
We needed to manage and monitor the satellite equipment for receiving signals.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We were relying on old software that was slow and often crashed. Codeventure helped us replace that application with an improved web solution. It automatically feeds data and allows for the remote configuration and parameter-settting of the receivers. The solution is even enhanced with an anti-replay protocol for extra security. They utilized MongoDB for development.
What is the team composition?
We had 3–4 engineers working on the project.
How did you come to work with Codeventure?
We found them on the internet. We were pleased with their previous projects and the scope of their technical skills.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them in July 2019 and wrapped up in September of the same year.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The operators of the machinery are very happy. We don’t have to deal with crashing software anymore. They’re enjoying better features that have improved our logging and reporting processes.
How did codeventure perform from a project management standpoint?
They had excellent follow-up. We used GitLab for project management and communication. Every time they had a question, we were able to immediately get in touch with them.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I appreciated how open-minded they are. They were open to deviating from the original project scope when needed. They’re an extremely talented, professional team.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, I can’t really think of anything.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
They’re professional and open-minded, so I look forward to working with them again in the future.

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
Vigo is a startup B2B marketplace where couriers meet with businesses. We make integrations with clients’ e-commerce platforms through APIs and connect orders with couriers. I’m a co-founder of the business.
What challenge were you trying to address with codeventure?
We know nothing about the tech side of the business. My specialty is operations, and my partner is in charge of purchasing. The most difficult technical challenge was tracking couriers second by second.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They're our tech partners in our business. The platform includes a web panel for e-commerce customers and an app for couriers. Customers can create and track orders through the web panel.
We had to find the easiest way of connecting orders with couriers based on map data. We wanted its functionality to work perfectly while being easy to use.
What is the team composition?
There are 5–6 people from codeventure involved in this project, and most of the work is being done by two of them. There’s one project manager on their side.
How did you come to work with codeventure?
We knew their founder and understood he was good at the kind of work we needed.
How much have you invested with them?
The cost so far is $220,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with codeventure in March 2020. The app is complete, but we’ll be working with them for another six months on revisions and maintenance.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
codeventure’s work is exactly what we asked for, and the platform is working perfectly. We’ll assess its performance better once we have 1,000 people on it, but it’s perfect for now.
How did codeventure perform from a project management standpoint?
We have frequent discussions to discuss revisions. They’re really helpful, and we haven’t had any difficulties.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They believed in our idea and worked with us as though they were part of our company. codeventure really owned the project, and it didn’t feel like an outsourced collaboration.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I don’t have anything in mind for now.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I'm the CTO at Atrepreneur.com. We are a marketplace for artists to sell their work, find jobs and sell services.
For what projects/services did your company hire codeventure, and what were your goals?
We needed 2 developers who were skilled in Javascript technologies for a React.js/ Meteor.js project. We are in the process of building new features for art sellers and buyers and needed to extend our current development team. We are currently pre-release and can't reveal the exact nature of the project, but our goal was to complete development and testing for a May 2021 release.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We were initially contacted by Codeventure through LinkedIn. We had been struggling to find developers and Coventure had people who understood our exact technology stack. We asked for some resumes and the people they presented to us had many years of experience. The whole process was actually very quick and smooth. Just felt like the correct fit.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
I can't reveal the exact deliverable at this time, but the process is Agile and was being done in parallel with a redesign project being done by other developers. Designs were presented to Codeventure developers, one focusing on the main workflow process and the second focusing on retooling our Stripe integrations and building a checkout process for the project.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We have two Javascript full stack developers and for a brief period a third Dev Ops person to review and validate any problems with our AWS/ECS architecture.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
We are currently still in progress, but it looks like we will meet our deliverables on time.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
Our team uses Google Workspace. We are all remote and work via Google Chat and Asana for task management. Adobe XD is used for designs. Communication is done mostly on chat with any meeting done through Google Meet.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
I think we started this relationship on a good note. We didn't waste huge amounts of time on contracts. They accepted our standard contract and we started work quickly.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
I'm very happy with this relationship.
