Phonak
- Team Size: 11 Tribe Members
- Project Kick-Off: April 2021
- Partner Location: Zürich, Switzerland
- Targeted Market: Europe
Phonak, a member of the Sonova Group, has been committed to developing, producing, and distributing life-changing hearing solutions for more than 70 years. As a company, they constantly strive to create advanced technical solutions that will help overcome even the most difficult hearing situations for people with hearing loss and problems.
However, end-users of the Roger devices do not see or understand the products’ full potential since they can be a bit complex at first sight. Sometimes, they don’t know the products’ basics and how and when they can use them.
The Codetribe succeeded in accommodating differing user personas within the coaching app (design-wise and UIX based, this refers to the font size, accessibility, etc.). The applications serve as digital guides - helping users of various age groups start their journey with their newly arrived Roger device.

HBO
- Team Size: 7 Tribe Members
- Project Kick-Off: September 2021
- Partner Location: Budapest, Hungary
- Targeted Market: Europe
HBO Max Europe team is using our automatization solution for the management of their localization. For them, we have implemented various integrations and adaptations of the popular tools that are automated to the level where minimum human interaction is required, which leaves little room for error in the complicated processes. We have created an integration between tools that those teams were already using. Now, the software handles all repetitive work and connections between different systems.
Our software further takes care of repetitive tasks that different team members needed to complete earlier, tasks like automatically uploading and downloading files, assigning contributors for localization, taking care of translations, enabling the distribution of translations to users in their languages, and many more.
HBO Max team successfully uses our solution to manage their translations through all European languages.

Labena
- Team Size: 7 Tribe Members
- Project Kick-Off: June 2020
- Partner Location: Ljubljana, Slovenia
- Targeted Market: Worldwide
Digital Transformation Without Complication
Labena is essentially a digital diary that acts as an inventory of all items (or anything else the user deems worthy), and what status these items are in at any point in the flow of core business processes. If any changes are made to these items, users can also record this via audit logs, enhancing overall transparency in the business.
The process of digitizing inventory management is a significant step forward for businesses. Not only does it improve accuracy – since every item is constantly being monitored – but it also fosters accountability, as everyone can easily see where each item is at any point in time and what condition the item was left in. This system also enables the proper management of resources, because management always knows how much there is of everything.

Put The Human Back Into Human Resources
VIMA was designed to be used by several organizations, users, and coaches. All the data you need to assess and support your staff will be housed on one platform, integrated with the Hello VIMA project. You can give different organizations and users distinct roles and permissions so that they can only perform certain tasks, keeping you in the driver’s seat. You can also create public links that allow users to access their assessments, where they can record video content and complete an analysis of their personality traits to assess for compatibility.
This is the next step in Human Resource management that brings back a human-centric approach to managing your workforce.

Bulletin
- Teamsize: 9 tribe members
- Project kickoff: 1st of April, 2017
- Partner’s location: New York, USA
- Targeted markets: USA and Canada
The shoulders of giants
Before getting in touch with us at Codetribe, the Bulletin startup team was part of a well-known program that goes by the name of Y Combinator. Have you ever heard of Airbnb, Dropbox, GitLab, Doordash? Yes, those are all startups that began as part of Y Combinator. Today, they are some of the world’s most recognizable international firms. Bulletin seems to be keeping good company!
A rocky start
This project was Codetribes’ first e-commerce undertaking. As could be expected, one of our main challenges came in the shape of integration with Shopifу’s beta API’s. This caused various discrepancies in the Product Inventory, an issue that took various iterations, bug finding and helps from Shopify’s engineers to solve. The whole thing ended up a joint effort showcasing awesome teamwork between us and Shopify’s API development.

A Roadmap to A Better Shopping Experience
Dream Rides has a sprawling catalog of products from world-famous motorcycling brands like Simpson and Thrashin, yet they needed to improve and streamline their online sales. DR found that their users abandoned their carts when they couldn’t make sense of the site. They needed a way to create a faster, seamless, and more convenient shopping experience that will not only impress existing users but drive substantial traffic to their website.
To ensure a higher-quality shopping experience, DR needed a professional UI and UX design that is unique, functional, and simple enough to make any user feel comfortable and confident throughout their shopping journey.

- Partner’s location: Zurich, Switzerland
- Targeted markets: Switzerland, Germany, Austria & Liechtenstein
Years of prosperity
Annanow is a long-term project we’ve been working on since 2016. Through the years it has developed into a serious platform that consists of many different apps, and it only keeps growing!
Deliveries trackable in real time
One of our biggest challenges was also one of our first tasks - making deliveries trackable in real time. It all starts the moment the order is received all the way until the parcel reaches its final destination; the whole procedure is trackable by a transparent technical process which allows all participants to see its real-time location. To do this, we’ve built both an iOS and an Android application by implementing Google Services which recognize the location of the parcel (thanks to geocoding and reverse geocoding), and make it available to all parties in real time. To simplify the process, we’ve decided to store temporary data on a base that is not part of our prime infrastructure.

Custom Software Development for Laboratory
"The project management was great."

the review
The client submitted this review online.
Please describe your company and your position there.
Labena is a family-based business established in 1992. From its very beginning, Labena has been focused on market segments in the pharmaceutical and food industry as well as academia and medical segments. Representing world-leading companies from these fields, Labena has managed to establish close cooperation with the majority of important customers in these market segments and stay successful in its business for over 25 years now.
With offices in Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, and Macedonia it has a wide network of customers and collaborators. In 2015 a service and research GMP/FDA certified laboratory was established inside Labena group that provides services to the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, and biotechnology market.
For what projects/services did your company hire Codetribe, and what were your goals?
The project was related to the development of a custom software solution for more efficient tracking of tools (basic information of tools, their documentation, location inside the factory, services modules, etc.) that are used for everyday operations.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
Laban's CEO found them through a referral and positive feedback. Since this was a project that had a relatively short timeline we needed a results-driven partner that was committed to providing customer support.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
We first started with a three-day discovery workshop where we went through the whole idea for our project. They gave us a lot of insights and useful ideas on how to make the workflows for our project easier or more user-friendly from a Software point of view. Then, they gave us workflows and design mock-ups to approve before starting production.
The production was done in several parts. When one part was finished they sent it to us for testing while they worked on the next part. This allowed us to test functions and give feedback.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
There were 2 people at the vendor site that were in constant contact with us and were leading the project from their side. However several other designers and developers were assigned to the project depending on the amount of work.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
We were able to launch the project before the anticipated timeline, which was a major achievement for us. The software frees up our employees' time because it enables a quicker and easier overview, which allows them to focus on other tasks.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
The project management was great. We had regular online meetings and in addition to that, if there were any questions or issues on either side, we set up a quick call to resolve them. They regularly met deadlines, and we never had unexpected turnovers. We mainly communicated through the Google platform (emails, Meet, etc.). We also used Trello and Figma.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
They were really quick to respond to any questions we had. They had constructive discussions and really took time to understand our problem and wish and then helped to come up with a useful solution.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Not really :)

Custom Software Development for a Behavioral Intelligence Co
"Everyone is genuinely committed to the project, and they’re very proactive."
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the information security officer at Vima, a behavioral intelligence company in the section of psychology, computer vision, and machine learning. We bring it to the market for a set of industries.
What challenge were you trying to address with Codetribe?
We needed help with product development.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Codetribe is our product development partner. They help us architect, design, code, implement, test, do QA, and maintain SaaS solutions — they do everything related to the product development cycle.
When we started with them, we had a showcase of our technology which we could use for demos and individual use, but we needed to go into more B2B enterprise solutions. The project we’re working on with them right now is building a backend system. In the first quarter of this year, we provided them with specifications of how it should work, and they took responsibility and designed the database, tables, relations, and so on. Then they proceeded with implementing the essential foundation feature.
Now we’re revamping to do more data analytics features — it’s a collaborative process. On our side, we provide guidance and specifications, and they’re responsible for implementation.
What is the team composition?
The project manager is our primary point of contact. Still, we work with a larger team of three developers, one QA, one system administrator, and other experts, depending on the scope.
How did you come to work with Codetribe?
Our CEO used to work with them. Besides that, I was thoroughly confident they’d be a perfect fit after seeing examples of their work.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in December 2020, and the project is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’re a startup and don’t have much internal capacity available to babysit other resources; Codetribe managed to get to the needed level quickly and efficiently while making good suggestions. The product offering they provided has enabled us to start finding clients. Their work has been highly significant to our company, and we wouldn’t be where we are today without them.
How did Codetribe perform from a project management standpoint?
The project manager is good and diligent. She’s also proactive and is chasing me to prepare specifications and tasks. There’s a lot of investment and proactivity on their side; everything is well prepared, clear, and delivered on time — there haven’t been any missed deadlines without much stress. We’re in contact with the entire team on a weekly and even daily basis when needed.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The team’s investment into our product is impressive — everyone is genuinely committed to the project, and they’re very proactive.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I don't think there's anything they can improve on — they deliver everything we hired them for.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
They work hard and invest in the projects they do. To have a successful project, you need to be committed on your side as well.

E-Commerce Platform Development for Nonprofit Organization
"They put a lot of time and care into our work together."
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the executive director of a nonprofit organization. We work to improve the quality of life of children by providing items such as shoes and clothes to meet their basic needs.
What challenge were you trying to address with Codetribe?
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we could no longer distribute supplies to children in person. We brought them in to help us develop an e-commerce platform that would facilitate contactless distribution.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They refreshed our existing website, adding an e-commerce element to it. They started the engagement by conducting a workshop to scope out our requirements for the solution and its functionality. After that, they started working on redesigning the site and implementing the e-commerce platform.
What is the team composition?
I worked directly with a project manager. That person worked with frontend developers, backend developers, and other professionals behind the scene.
How did you come to work with Codetribe?
One of our board members had previously worked with them on a different project. We spoke to several different companies and freelancers, but we ended up deciding to go with them. They demonstrated a strong understanding of our brand identity from early on and they were the only team who had a project manager who was a woman. Based on these early indicators, I knew we’d be able to build a good rapport with them.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent about $50,000 with them.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from September–December 2020. They still provide occasional maintenance services.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Their work has allowed us to continue to serve vulnerable children and their families during the pandemic, which was huge for us. When we had to shut down in-person operations, we were concerned that we wouldn’t be able to develop an alternative. Our organization uses a voucher system, and we weren’t sure how that would translate to an online shopping experience. However, they built a well-received system that we plan to use as public health regulations ease. The platform is dignified and safe for end users and enabled us to streamline operations amid a downsized volunteer and staff base.
How did Codetribe perform from a project management standpoint?
They did a great job. Their team developed a strong understanding of our brand through the e-commerce portion of the project, which made the site redesign really easy from a process standpoint. I appreciated having a dedicated project manager. We had weekly meetings in which we were able to test the solution in real-time.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They put a lot of time and care into our work together.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, I can’t think of anything. We’re planning to work on more digital projects with them in the future.

Web Development for Information Services Provider
"They have never missed a deadline, and are excellent at managing my demanding expectations."

Please describe your company and your position there.
Media Partners Asia (MPA) was incorporated in Hong Kong in 2001. We provide expert analysis, research and advisory services to the global and local telecoms, media, technology and financial industries and governments. I am a Co-Founder and Executive Director of MPA.
For what projects/services did your company hire Codetribe, and what were your goals?
Moving from an analog world into digital was our greatest challenge - we needed to learn, adapt, and be wiling to invest digitally - both pre- and post-Covid if we were to survive and grow. In 2016 (pre-Covid), following our global search for the best independent digital agency, we selected Codetribe to build a powerful digital B2C platform designed for humanity to lobby against various.
The platform needed to be borderless, OS-agnostic, multi-lingual, have its own social media stream and a beautiful UX. Codetribe helped us over-achieve our goals. In 2020 (post-Covid), MPA embarked on taking its globally renowned annual conference (APOS), online.
At a time of global crisis, based on our working experience with Codetribe, we held great confidence it could be done. From scratch and speedily, Codetribe built a pioneering digital platform that enabled MPA to offer Speakers, Attendees, and Sponsors an unparalleled digital "conference" experience.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
Back in 2016, Codetribe was initially recommended to MPA by a mutual industry friend. However, Codetribe along with 3 other digital agencies were invited to bid for our B2C project. We elected to go with Codetribe because we could tell that they were best equipped in terms of expertise and passion for the project but also because of the genius and humble people within their team. Since 2016, we continue to work with Codetribe on all major digital enterprises. Our partnership is rock solid - we turn away other digital agencies bidding for our business.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
I am not equipped to detail the scope of work or technologies deployed. As mentioned earlier, we are a 20-year-old company, evolving from the analog era into digital. This is why we needed a digital agency. All we did, was provide Codetribe our vision. They impeccably took care of the rest.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
One of the joys of working with Codetribe is their people. The MPA team has worked with everyone from Codetribe - from their back office staff to the founders and everyone in between. I have visited their offices in Novi Sad (Serbia). Their culture is similar to MPA's - it has a strong sense of team unity, collective passion, and an unequivocal determination for success and growth. A genius and humble group of hardworking & lovely people.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
Codetribe has successfully built, launched, maintained and developed both our B2C and B2B platforms. These platforms had to be world-class - on a par or better than the digital platforms owned by global media, tech, advertising and investor brands, who constitute 95% of our global client base.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
Codetribe's Project Managers are a delight to work with - incredibly attentive, receptive, responsive, available, accountable. We use traditional tools of communication and project management. Over 6 years of working with Codetribe, they have never missed a deadline, and are excellent at managing my demanding expectations.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Impeccability from start to finish and across everything in between. I would score Codetribe 100%. I have worked in media for more than 30 years and can say that of all the agencies I have worked with, none previously would come close to even an 80% gradation. Bravo Codetribe!
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
We are all in the "room for improvement" :) But one of the Codetribe's beauties is their unwavering passion to stay ahead of the digital innovation curve. Honestly no - there is nothing they could have done differently. MPA's team spans 4 continents. Codetribe have worked with us to ensure they have a dedicated Project Manager available to us 24 hours/day for a) Our real-time B2C platform and b) Our Live B2B event platform. "Impeccability" could be Codetribe's middle name.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I’m Founder and CEO at Pet2Net. We are a Start-up in the Pet Industry. We are finishing the product fit phase and now we are focusing on growth. Our priority is to build relationships with our users on one side and major stakeholders on the other side (Pet Food producers, Pet insurance companies, Vets, Groomers, Kennels etc.) We managed to build up a successful case with a pet food company and to raise their sale for 200-300% in two years! Our network is growing bigger and bigger every day.
For what projects/services did your company hire Codetribe, and what were your goals?
Development of web platform and web mobile and web apps for social media platforms.
How did you select Codetribe and what were the deciding factors?
I saw the potential, optimism, and good energy in this team! Their expertise in a variety of industries and the quality of their deliverables, getting even more than expected, were the main deciding factors to continue the development of the platform and establish a long-term partnership.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
Pet2Net should generate an online community of pets, pet owners and pet businesses. Through the timeline (news feed), profiles and chat functionality, the pet owners can connect and exchange experiences and tips about better understanding the animal needs and taking better care of them, through posting, leaving comments and reactions.
The pet businesses can use the application to promote their products and services to the right audience. Pet2Net will enable the users to create social profiles for themselves, for their pets and their business. On the Pet2Net feed, the users can post, read and react to published posts, watch photos, select specific groups of posts using tags and filters, connect and interact with other users by following them and chatting.
This is the MVP od the product, and now it has a lot more to offer the users as following the dog’s family tree, labels and actions for every pet, creating different business types, etc. The key deliverables are the Dog’s and Business profiles and all the accessories features, the chat functionality, maps with radius businesses or pet’s interests, etc.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
The Codetribe team consists of experts in different fields and depending on the project requirements, they will provide you with the right people. There are no limitations or jobs that can’t be done. The team that worked on Pet2Net consisted of: Product Manager Project Manager Backend Developers Android Mobile Developers Quality Assurance Engineers DevOps
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
Since the Codetribe took over the product, the number of users is rapidly increasing and the feedback is getting much better. The platform now has a mobile application as well which drastically improved the user experience. This is mostly a result of the Codetribe business improvements and latest trends recommendations.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
Codetribe uses Agile methodologies for managing all the projects, imparticular, Pet2Net is organized as a Kanban project. New testable versions are available every one to two weeks, depending on the type of tasks planned for the current sprint. As communication tools, we use Slack, Google Meet and Skype. In the beginning, the project was managed by the Azure tool and after a while, we switched to Jira since this is the tool Codetribe prefers.
In addition to this, the Codetribe team uses Monday Board for additional internal organization and communicating with me.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Besides delivering the product, Codetribe provides you with suggestions and ideas for better user experience, more modern turn on the design and functionalities. You can be sure that your product is always developed in the latest technology, the quality of the code is on the highest level since every line goes through Code Review from the Lead Developers. You can even ask for business advice, connections and brainstorming sessions.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
There is always an area where someone can improve, that is why I highly recommend Codetribe. They follow really religiously one rule and that is: Never miss the retrospective meeting, give your honest feedback and try to improve until the next time.

Please describe your company and your position there.
KITRO aims to minimize the unnecessary food waste that occurs in commercial kitchens. By automatically capturing data on food waste, we bring visibility to what is filling the trashbins and provide users with actionable insights to reduce their waste.
As one of the two co-founders, I work more on sales, partnerships, and product development.
For what projects/services did your company hire Codetribe?
Building an analytics dashboard to display food waste data. Each customer receives their own personal display in-depth data on their performance.
What were your goals for this project?
The solution needed to be functional, have a sophisticated design, and be able to showcase data that activated change to drive food waste reduction. With many backend integrations required, all the data had to be linked, pulled and showcased to the customer.
How did you select this vendor?
They were recommend by an acquaintance. After selecting the top 12 vendors, we underwent one-on-one meetings/call with each vendor. We asked for past customer feedback and contact details. Ultimately, we liked this team on the first glance based on the professional impression, cost, portrayed skill level, and personal likability of the entire team.
Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.
Everything from A-Z for tech development. If they don't know how to do something they will use their resources to figure out how to do it. Working with Codetribe is great. It doesn't feel like a partnership or outsourced hire. It really feels like an extension of our team.
What was the team composition?
They have everything you need, and if they don't, they will find it. Very talented developer working in this team. They have good fun together and work hard.
I recommend bringing your own designer in for projects though as when we started there was no designer in house and the partnered designers unfortunately did not match. Otherwise, a complete team with extensive resources.
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
We're still in the Version 2 development of the dashboard, but it allowed us to advance the product offer we give our clients.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
Very well arranged, professional, detail-oriented and clear. Efficient work that only continues to improve and advance.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
The team dynamic and their commitment to the project. Again, it is really an extension of our team and we are all working on the project together. We are not just another revenue marker for them, but truly see their devotion to the work. Also great team and awesome team dynamic.
Are there any areas for improvement?
We are currently undergoing our products version 2 push. All of the learnings and improvements that were identified in version 1 were already implemented. Very happy with the way the work, communication, and development has advanced and flourished in this short amount of time.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the co-founder and CEO of Bulletin. We build physical retail stores and platforms for online or digital brands to manage their inventory and sell offline.
What challenge were you trying to address with Codetribe?
We were building a platform for the 150 sellers we work with and needed help customizing it to fit our needs. We wanted to provide an e-commerce option and an automated way for sellers to synchronize and manage their inventory with us.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They built an entirely custom platform using React. The basic features allow any brand in the world to apply with us and submit their portfolio. Once they’re accepted, they can log in, submit products, and create inventory requests within the platform. They connected us to the Shopify API and set up tracking functionality. Each brand can track their shipments in real time and use the platform to understand exactly how their products are performing.
What is the team composition?
We worked with two project managers and the company owner. We also worked with two developers regularly and a team of other developers who joined the project as needed.
How did you come to work with Codetribe?
We found them through a referral. Friends of mine used them to build an app and recommended them highly. We had previous experience with a few outside teams and an internal developer that hadn’t worked. Ultimately, Codetribe was the right fit for us.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent about $200,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together around March or April 2017. Our Shopify site launched in December 2017 and the new platform launched in June 2018.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
As soon as we launched the new e-commerce site, we saw conversions increase by about 1%, which is significant. The old site had major page loading issues. They removed all the lag time and we’re seeing great improvement thanks to the stronger design, faster experience, and better branding they did for us.
They fix bugs or issues immediately and worked with Shopify to get us into the beta version of their new API. It puts us ahead of our competitors and we’re very pleased.
How did Codetribe perform from a project management standpoint?
Both of our project managers are incredible, as was the rest of the team. I worked directly with several of them. They traveled to us when we first scoped the project. After that, we worked together via Google Hangouts. They’re responsive to any requests for the e-commerce work or for any customizations. They always got back to us right away, day or night. They were extremely diligent.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They’re very personable. They hit all the baseline things we wanted and gave us everything we hoped for. They’re responsive, their work is good, and every person on their team is lovely to work with. Even though they’re so far away, they felt like part of the team. They’re flexible and accepted scope changes throughout the process. They were reactive, their prices were competitive, and their quality is high.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No; we’re extremely happy with their work so far.

MVP Development for Hospitality Startup

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I am the co-founder and managing director of Portier Technologies. We are a new company focusing on the hospitality sector.
What challenge were you trying to address with Codetribe?
We engaged Codetribe to work with us on an MVP [minimum variable product] bullet. It's important to note that my co-founder and I do not have technical experience. We needed someone to come in from the technical side and help us write the specs.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We were looking to create an MVP bullet for the front side of our system for an Android app. On the back side, we wanted to put together a web portal and a device management system. Codetribe did a comprehensive technical assessment of what we needed to do and the product documentation we needed to create. Basically, they took on the responsibilities of an in-house IT. They handled project management, code testing, and UX design of the product on both the front and back-end. Codetribe was responsible for taking the lead in each of those areas in order to develop a product for us.
How did you come to work with Codetribe?
We looked around the world for great software firms, using Clutch for a number of reviews. We looked at apps that we liked and those that we had heard about. We put together an RFP [request for proposal] and reached out to about 40 companies, mainly in Eastern Europe. We then shortlisted that number and conducted a few calls. Our criteria were the budget, team members, their experience, and reviews. While I am not 100% certain if it was Clutch where we found Codetribe originally, I know we used Clutch extensively to find a number of our partners. It was about a month-long process to find the right partner. In the end, we visited the Codetribe team in Serbia before we made a final selection. Given how important this was to our development as a firm, we were pretty rigorous. After going through that, we're really proud to say that Codetribe is our partner.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started our search in late January or February. It took us about a month to find the right firm, so that takes us to the end of March. From there, we spent about 2 or 3 weeks actually writing the product specs and putting that together. From there, we worked through the summer until the end of September 2016. We are just releasing our MVP and we're in the final steps of bug fixing and validation. That scope will end in the next 1 to 2 weeks. We've re-engaged Codetribe to provide new features and new support for our next release. We are looking to establish a long-term agreement with Codetribe as our lead development firm.
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?
When starting a new project, the most important things are budget and timeline. We are happy to say that we have stuck to the budget that we’ve agreed to. Codetribe has been fantastic in that aspect. Second, we put together a very, very aggressive timeline. The whole project lasted 4 months, from when we first started coding to when we had the MVP. I think we might have to add 2 more weeks, but by and large, they’ve hit every deadline that we’ve had. For us, they hit the nail on the head for every area that we've looked at. Overall, as far as budget and timeline are concerned, they’ve done a terrific job; they’ve been on target. We’re really pleased.
How did Codetribe perform from a project management standpoint?
We were really fortunate to have one of the 2 founders of Codetribe as our project manager. That was something that was critical to our success, given how important this was to our company. We appreciated the way that they guided us and the way they set us up for success. Those are definitely the real reason we are where we are right now.
What did you find most impressive about Codetribe?
I was really impressed with Codetribe and their ability to take ownership and understand what our product was and who we were going after. We were doing something that we considered a new product, a new sector. It wasn’t just repeating something from a project we had done before. I was pleased with the way they were able to solve problems. First, they would take a step back, think about our customers, and think about our business. Then they would come back to us and apply ways to solve the problem. Codetribe also looked at different technology applications and thought about the customer experience. They came up with ideas for new features and new areas to cover. They were a terrific partner that really understood our business.
Are there any areas Codetribe could improve?
I really can't think of anything. It's the reason why we're working with them on future projects and a long-term development agreement.

App Development for Health Technology Company

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
Cupris Limited is a health technology company. We build software that supports our hardware for smartphone attachments. I am the CTO [Chief Technology Officer].
What challenge were you trying to address with Codemind?
We needed Codetribe to build applications from the ground-up, not including design and architecture.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Our company produces smartphone attachments that convert phones into medical devices. You can turn the phones into a stethoscope or otoscope just by attaching the devices onto the case. The device only really works for some models of phones because there are certain challenges involved with each phone model. For example, when you turn the phone into an otoscope, you need to put the attachment into the ear. Obviously, it’s very dark in there, so you have to manipulate the torch and focus. The torch orientation is different in all phones, so that’s something we had to investigate and go over in code with Codetribe.
Codetribe actually went out and bought devices for themselves and started testing them independently. Generally, our software is pretty generic, but Codetribe worked to the specific models that we provided. Before Codetribe came in, we had an MVP [minimum variable product] that was causing a lot of crashes on our servers but we never understood why. These guys came in and discovered exactly what the issue was and fixed it within a matter of hours. They’re all very knowledgeable guys. They all understand what the requirements are and just get on with the project.
How did you come to work with Codetribe?
One of the founders of Codetribe actually used to work for a different company a year and a half ago. We were working with that company before with Epicuri, which is one of my other start-ups. When we were researching outsourcing IT companies for Cupris, we looked at about 40 companies before we came to Codetribe, and they were definitely top of the pack.
How much have you invested with Codetribe?
The work we’ve done with Codetribe at Cupris is in the range of $100,000 a year.
What is the status of this engagement?
Codetribe came in about a year and a half ago, and we have an ongoing relationship for all of our development. For Cupris, they started in December last year, and they've done everything.
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?
I can't give you any numbers, but I introduced Codetribe to Cupris when I joined as CTO. It was a big challenge because we were completely redeveloping the app. They started working with us on the 18th of December. April 21st was the date that we had a hard deadline for a clinical trial in the UK. Within three months, we had to get the Codetribe guys to come in, start from scratch, use the use case documents and the requirements analysis we provided to them, and build the app from the outset. They were great; they completed it within three months. I've never seen anyone create an application of this magnitude and size within three months. That's got to be the biggest success story from Codetribe.
How did Codetribe perform from a project management standpoint?
They've got a very good organization going there. You do get one or two developers and perhaps a support guy whose English isn't that great. The way they circumvent this issue is by putting a few of their project managers, whose English is fantastic, as the leads for the entire project. I have a point man for Cupris, and I have a point man for Epicuri. That point man is the guy I communicate with about all things on that project. It's a very well-organized machine.
What did you find most impressive about Codetribe?
I can only really compare Codetribe to other outsourcing companies, although it's probably not fair to compare them to any other American or British companies I've worked with because they're much bigger. Their English is fantastic, and that's hard to find in an outsourced company where the English is to a level where there's no miscommunication. Everything is written down, ticketed, and organized. Nothing ever goes amiss, so I never need to worry. One of the best things to have is communication, and they've definitely got that down to a tee.
Are there any areas Codetribe could improve?
It was a learning process throughout working with Codetribe. Where we're at now and where we were in April of this year was honed over a number of months. At the beginning, there was miscommunication and definitely room for improvement, but the general problems we had with development and project management were very quickly quashed. Codetribe identified the problem, inserted different project managers and fixed it. Any big software development project is going to have these problems, and I didn't expect that not to happen. They did happen, and Codetribe fixed them quickly.
