Social Media Training | USENIX

The Challenge:

Chipperfield Media was retained to train the internal marketing team at Usenix on how to execute a successful and robust social media strategy.

The Solution:

Chipperfield Media conducted a thorough social media audit to evaluate the current social media strategy at Usenix. Working closely alongside key stakeholders and executives, Chipperfield Media created a detailed social media plan and strategy for all 20 properties.

The Retults:

Chipperfield Media created detailed documentation of standard procedures, step by step how-to guides, completed setup of Hoosuite and other useful marketing tools, created helpful content templates for the team, and presented these materials in a two-hour training on best practices for internal execution.

Website Copy & Social Media Launch | V. Vineyards

The Challenge:

Build and establish an online presence for V.Vineyards, a new Sonoma winery. Chipperfield Media was retained to write copy for the website and to establish social media channels to generate buzz around the winery launch.

The Solution:

Chipperfield Media worked closely alongside the winery owners to build a powerful brand story that aimed to showcase meticulously crafted, single vineyard wines. Chipperfield Media created copy for a five page website showcasing the brand story through thoughtful and powerful storytelling. Followed by building social media profiles on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram before developing post strategy to generate brand awareness.

The Results:

Chipperfield Media produced copy for a 5 page website and launched social media properties on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Facebook content reached 41K potential customers within two months leading to over 200 website clicks.

Facebook Advertising | European Sleep Works

The Challenge:

European Sleep Works aimed to establish brand awareness in the Bay Area of California seeking to increase web traffic and foot traffic to the store location utilizing Facebook's advertising platform. Chipperfield Media was retained to develop the strategy, ad creative and execute all campaigns.

The Solution:

Chipperfield Media developed three Facebook Ad campaigns per month based on European Sleep Works' unique brand positioning pillars. Chipperfield Media created strategic advertising campaigns designed to reach customers in the Bay Area using geo-targeting and interest specific targeting.

The Results:

In six months, Chipperfield Media helped European Sleep Works reach 360k potential new customers and landed over1M impressions online. Website traffic tripled, driving over 600 website visitors a month and increased their Facebook fan base.

I am the Executive Director of USENIX, the Advanced Computing Systems Association. We are a membership organization that provides a community forum for computer scientists in the form of conferences and publications. Our systems conferences are a premier venue for publishing in computer science and we publish a quarterly magazine for our members.We also offer more industry-focused events that serve as gathering places for communities such as sysadmins and site reliability engineers (SREs).

What challenge were you trying to address with Chipperfield Media?

In engaging with Chipperfield Media, we sought to formalize and make consistent our social media voice. We wanted to provide consistent communication with our constituents on a limited budget.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Chipperfield Media provided a hybrid solution for us in social media. In the beginning, they assisted us directly with posts and scheduling, but they also created tools that we could use on our own. We worked with Charlotte Chipperfield directly in these efforts and she provided valuable insight and flexibility throughout the process. The deliverables were a social media brand book that serves as a resource guide for our future posting and a social media communications schedule, both of which we continue to use today.

How did you come to work with Chipperfield Media?

Chipperfield Media was recommended by a trusted former employee, one who understood our business needs thoroughly. Upon meeting Charlotte in person, it was clear that she was a savvy marketing and communications guru. She had a friendly approach well matched to our team. Her willingness to collaborate with us on budgeting, scheduling, and scope of work proved to us that she would be an asset to our team.

What is the status of this engagement?

The original project scope is complete and she delivered on all counts. Our engagement is on an as-needed basis, pending scheduling constraints on their end. Chipperfield Media remains our go-to expert resource for ad hoc consulting on social media and communications.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

Chipperfield Media empowered our team members to manage social media independently with greater confidence. I don’t have stats on hand, but I can say that her assistance helped us to streamline our efforts. Our team received the support we needed to keep our social media efforts moving forward in a more organized, coherent way.

How did Chipperfield Media perform from a project management standpoint?

Excellently. They were able to meet all deadlines we set and were consistently in communication with us.

What did you find most impressive about Chipperfield Media?

I deeply appreciate Chipperfield Media’s direct communication and transparency in project scheduling and costs. There was no red tape to cut through to arrive at a mutually agreeable project scope and schedule. Their down-to-earth yet thoroughly professional style of communication was most welcome. It lacked the condescending nature that some marketing/communications firms display when dealing with clients who are less knowledgeable in these areas. It is clear that Charlotte chooses to lead her organization in a way that fosters strong relationships with clients.

We were looking for some help in running some experimental campaigns on Facebook.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

It was a mix of general branding for our location, store, and company as well as product specific outreach about a custom pillow line that we make as well as children’s mattresses. Once again, just in the experimental stages at this point. They were creating headlines on Facebook and determining where to place the ad.

How did you come to work with Chipperfield Media?

A referral from somebody that we already employ as an advertising agency.

How much have you invested with Chipperfield Media?

Because we’re still in the experimental stage and we’re running a lot of split testing, the budget is $2,000, but we’ll expand. We’re happy to use them to expand. Potentially it could be ten times that.

What is the status of this engagement?

It is ongoing.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

I’ve seen improvement in the quality of the traffic, but at this point, it’s still inconclusive as far as a trend in the store. We do see some correlations, but we’re still too early.

How did Chipperfield Media perform from a project management standpoint?

They are performing perfectly. Chipperfield is on time, concise, and very responsive.

What did you find most impressive about Chipperfield Media?

They have operated as more than just an implementer of directives. They’re an agency that brings new direction and ideas that we could use. They also provide a lot of input to the copyrighting of the headlines and subheads.

Are there any areas Chipperfield Media could improve?

Not at this point. We’re 100% satisfied.

I work for a wine holding company where we own a lot of different wine brands and wineries throughout the west coast and internationally also.

I am the Digital Communications Manager for a couple of our brands where I focus on social media and digital marketing strategies.

What challenge were you trying to address with Chipperfield Media?

We have a lot of brands and a very small digital communications team. With a couple of the brands, we wanted to outsource some social media and content management just to make sure those brands were getting the right amount of attention that they needed in the digital space.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They were coming up with content calendars and collaborating with our direct to consumer team at each of our winery estates to get images and figure out what the content looked like and how to introduce those factors into a monthly plan for each of those brands. She was also doing some advertising and making sure that we’re promoting our content accordingly.

How did you come to work with Chipperfield Media?

Charlotte, the owner, is a former colleague of mine. Just knowing that she had been working with a couple of clients already in the wine industry, we felt that she would be a good fit and was also at the right price point for us too.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

We have spent somewhere in between $5,000 to $7,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We are still working with them. We started March of this year.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

I don’t have specifics, but we have seen that just with the consistent posting that we’ve been doing on social media we’ve gotten better engagement. Also with the use of advertising dollars that the Chipperfield team has been managing we’re getting more impressions in reach and can identify the best target segments for us as well.

How did Chipperfield Media perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re [Chipperfield Media] doing really well. Given the challenges with not being onsite at any of the wineries and having to collaborate with a lot of different teams to get content, they’re agile and could adjust their project management needs accordingly to make sure they’re getting the content that they need to be able to deliver as well.

What did you find most impressive about Chipperfield Media?

This is the first team we’ve worked with for this need. We don’t have a lot to compare it to. I think overall just that they’re a small shop and able to give us a fair amount of attention is helpful.

Are there any areas Chipperfield Media could improve?

It’s a double-edged sword when you’re a small shop. You can tell they’re strapped for resources. Sometimes they’re a little late on things, and they could probably just use some designers as well in being able to help create other kinds of content and graphics that aren’t just relying on photography.
