Introduce your business and what you do there.
We're a philanthropic foundation that provides direct grants to individuals in Los Angeles. As its president, I manage a dynamic team and oversee our expansion and partnership.
What challenge were you trying to address with Cave Social?
One of our values is that we operate with humility, but we were having a hard time talking about ourselves and identifying what our voice should be. As a result, we felt the need to bring on an outside party to help us identify that voice.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We have a lot of content, such as thank-you notes from recipients or partners as well as videos. Cave Social organizes our content and creates a workflow for using them.
They’re mentoring one of our junior staff members, who is also our social media coordinator. It's a unique partnership in that way. Their team is also managing our social media accounts and posts to make sure we’re on point with our messages.
We don't always have photos of our recipients, but Cave Social has been creative with the content that they've developed, whether it’s quotes or actual graphics.
What is the team composition?
I mainly worked with Jordan (CEO & Founder) and Lauren (Creative Lead).
How did you come to work with Cave Social?
I found them by researching Los Angeles-based social media marketing companies. I reached out to several firms and had initial consultations with 5–6 people, but we went with Cave Social because we had good chemistry, and they understood what we were up to.
How much have you invested with them?
So far, we’ve spent around $25,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them in September 2020, and the partnership is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Cave Social has been a phenomenal partner. We're not as concerned about large numbers as we are about engagement. We review the metrics and the analytics each month — that's what I pay attention to — and our engagement has gone up 1,000% or more, which is fantastic. They’ve also done an incredible job of mentoring one of our junior staff members.
We’re a startup that’s only a year and a half old. Helping us find our voice has been a huge result. They’ve taken that voice and translated it into digestible chunks, and those are the main things that we care about. We’re not raising money, so that’s not something we engage with.
We're also looking at targeting the right crowds and not just having followers for the sake of having followers. The branding they create resonates with the people we want it to resonate with. They've kept us on task with that, and it has been a great deliverable. We’ve had good responses from our audiences.
How did Cave Social perform from a project management standpoint?
Cave Social has been so responsive and always on top of everything. We use Trello and Slack for communication. It’s probably more of a curve for us than them when using Trello, but I’m impressed with their project management. We also conduct weekly calls to make sure that we're all on point, helping us refine our messaging platform and value. They contributed quite a bit to that.
What did you find most impressive about them?
We're privately funded, and one family is financing $10 million in annual funds to redistribute to our neighbors in Los Angeles. As a result, we're careful with the people we partner with. There has to be a high level of trust, and we trust Cave Social. That's definitely important for us.
They're also super relatable, and we can cover a lot of ground with them. They don’t simply post whatever we tell them to post on social media. They provide so much more value than that.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, there aren’t any. I can’t think of any downside to their services. They've given so much more than what we initially needed, and they've been generous with their time and resources.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Cave Social has great communication skills where they bounce ideas off of you. That’s the way they roll. They have great accessibility, and they’re great thought partners. You can also tap into what they’re doing with other clients, knowing which efforts worked and which didn’t. I ask them about their other clients that are similar to us, and we try those efforts.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the marketing manager at George Courey Inc. We specialize in textiles for the healthcare and hospitality industry, including PPE for COVID-19.
What challenge were you trying to address with Cave Social?
We brought in Cave Social to help us rebrand ourselves on social media — really dedicating the time and focus to apply a marketing strategy so that we could drive more business from our social channels.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Cave Social is responsible for creating content for our social media, from writing blogs for our SEO to leading the design work. We collaborate on the strategy first to get things approved before setting up the campaigns. From there, they develop the content, publish it, and then manage the community engagement.
In terms of the brand refresher, we’re focusing on updating our look and establishing it through our social and paid ads efforts. I direct them on my vision (e.g., colors, tone, type, theme), and they create unique, out-of-the-box campaigns to reflect that. They run those paid ads through Google and Facebook.
What is the team composition?
I work with three people: Jordan (Founder), Lauren (Creative Lead) who is in charge of our social accounts, and Ameet (SEM & Paid Media Specialist) who does all of our ads.
How did you come to work with Cave Social?
I searched on Googles for top social companies and found Cave Social on Clutch.
How much have you invested with them?
We spend $2,800 CAD (approximately $2,100 USD) a month, which amounts to $25,200 CAD (approximately $19,100 USD) in total.
What is the status of this engagement?
We’ve been working with them since January 2020.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The results speak for themselves. We’ve had consistent growth in terms of website hits, translating to a 20% increase in site to conversion rate compared to the previous 9%. We’re also seeing 100% growth month over month for campaigns.
The content itself is great. I get so much feedback internally and externally about their work, which is a huge highlight.
How did Cave Social perform from a project management standpoint?
I appreciate that I don’t need to go over the nitty-gritty details with them because they provide such strong high-level plans. They’ll give me an overview of the content for ads or outline our strategy for the month, then stick to it.
It’s a clear, organized process. In terms of project management tools, they use Trello to stay on track. If we need to change something, they’re reactive to the situation.
What did you find most impressive about them?
It’s really wonderful to work with them. The team is sensible and intelligent, and it’s easy for them to come back with new campaign ideas. It’s like they’re an extension of our team. They’re able to work almost autonomously on their tasks, which means I don’t have to worry about what’s going on.
Are there any areas they could improve?
The way we’ve set up our project management works well for our situation, but I can see how other businesses might prefer a different style. We don’t set key performance indicators (KPIs) per month, working instead on a more general basis. If you’re looking for more set goals, then just talk to them about it.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Right from the start, you should be as clear with them as possible and communicate how you want them to work with you. That means discussing the type of communication you expect, your level of comfort with their tools, and how they use them internally. Getting this discussion out of the way first will feed into the rest of the relationship.

We work with the principals of the firm who delegate tasks as required to their in-house specialists.

Our web traffic and lead quality have consistently improved year over year since we have worked with this vendor.

The workflow has been excellent. In particular, one of their most effective contributions was to introduce us to Slack as a team communication tool. That alone was a home run that immensely improved our productivity.

Their core knowledgeability in terms of content creation and digital marketing is impressive. It's their integrity that stands out, everything is upfront and honest. They do a good days work for a good days pay.

Digital agencies can always improve their core technical proficiency with web development tools. They are willing to dig into the nerdier aspects of coding and translate it into English for the wider audience, and we appreciate those efforts.
