Software Dev & Design Partner for Math Model Consultancy
"They’re a real partner for us."

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
We’re a mathematical modeling consultancy. We produce mathematical models to solve complex problems in the fields of defense, infrastructure, and engineering. I’m the principal software engineer.
What challenges were you trying to address with BytePitch?
We needed more development support, but it was difficult to find affordable resources in London. We hired BytePitch to work in collaboration with our internal team.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They supplied us with multiple software engineers that we work with on multiple projects. They primarily help develop web applications and APIs. Most recently, they helped us develop an optimization web application for a client of ours that owns and operates a dockyard. For that project, they used Python, in addition to other technologies. We typically use Python and React for development.
There is some design work involved, but our software products' design isn’t as big of an issue as it would be with a SaaS product.
What is the team composition?
We’re working with five people from BytePitch at the moment. They come from a variety of roles, including project manager, solutions architect, and software engineer.
How did you come to work with BytePitch?
We looked at several different options, but BytePitch was recommended to us personally. They seemed to be the best option for us based on both quality and price.
How much have you invested in them?
We’ve invested about €200,000–€300,000 (approximately $242,206–$363,309 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in January 2020, and our engagement is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
They’re actually helping us develop metrics to measure our software outputs right now.
Anecdotally, we’ve gone from having a shortage of people available to work on projects to being able to hit deadlines, keep costs down, and better manage incoming project requests.
How did BytePitch perform from a project management standpoint?
I only have good things to say about their project management skills. They’re a real partner for us. We use Slack and have daily standups with them.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They’re very good at sourcing skilled developers. Everyone we’ve worked with knows what they’re talking about and can understand our work. They’re able to provide teammates with a variety of skillsets, and their costs are very competitive.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Sometimes, it takes them a week or two to provide a resource if we need to scale up for a project. I’d love to see them grow the size of their team.

Engineering Staff Augmentation for Customer Success Startup
"Their speed to ramp up to a fully-fledged team member was one of the fastest I’ve ever seen."

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO of Quala, a venture-backed startup. We offer a customer success platform.
What challenge were you trying to address with BytePitch?
We wanted more capacity in our engineering organization. I leverage them to scale up those efforts quickly.
What was the scope of their involvement?
BytePitch is a scalable source of full stack engineers. We’re a Node.js shop with a React frontend, and we needed engineering capacity for both the front- and backend. As we worked together, I found they had deep expertise in data science, so we leverage that. About 50% of their work for us has been in data science.
We’ve integrated them as full team members. The engineers from BytePitch participates in our daily standups, peer reviews, and meetings for estimation, planning, and architecture. They’re always on the more important tasks for any project at any given time. For example, one area is an app that programmatically delivers insights to customers based on data coming into our system. BytePitch dove deep into understanding the shape of our customer data and figuring out how to come up with good insights from that.
What is the team composition?
I work with three people: two full-time engineers and one manager. The two full-time resources are day-to-day
How did you come to work with BytePitch?
They were a referral from a friend. When it comes to contractors, I’m quick to try them out in a quick sprint and, if we like each other and it’s a good fit, continue working together. BytePitch fell into that category. They ramped up fast and added value very quickly. They also have strong communication skills, which is not always the case with an offshore company, and a good price.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together three or four months ago. I plan to keep them indefinitely.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Their speed to ramp up to a fully-fledged team member was one of the fastest I’ve ever seen. That’s a really strong thing when dealing with a contractor. Their ability to jump into our technology, understand the business, pull down features, and run asynchronously is great. Their delivery is equal to my US-based engineers.
How did BytePitch perform from a project management standpoint?
We have strong project management and engineering leadership in-house, so BytePitch offers just single contributors that jump in and help deliver. We haven’t leveraged their project management.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The communication’s been really strong. Pedro (Founder) is my account sponsor, and he feels like a real partner. When COVID-19 hit and I needed to reduce spending, I was able to work with him in a pragmatic way to share that burden together. They’re like a part of the team. When they show up to a meeting, I like having them around. The team is fun to work with.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, I’ve been happy overall.
Any advice for potential customers?
Just dive in, integrate BytePitch as part of the team, and empower them. I think they’ll be a great extension of your team.
