Throughout their partnership with The Byne Group, the client was very appreciative of their commitment to project timelines, cost estimates, and their professionality while working with a nonprofit.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

At my organization, our mission is to bring businesses into our county via different marketing opportunities. We also work to retain those businesses that are already in our county, either through expansion or through offering them training opportunities if they need it.

I am the Director of Operations and Marketing here at the organization. I’ve been here a little over two and a half years.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with The Byne Group?

We contacted The Byne Group for two different reasons. We were first looking to do a mailer to the surrounding areas outside of our county in order to expand our visibility and hopefully get some interest in businesses outside of our immediate area that might be looking to relocate here. We were also looking to do some marketing pieces. We had an existing palm card that we were looking to expand to incorporate further information regarding what we do and certain incentives available through other organizations that we work with.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The Byne Group has completed putting together two mailers for us. One was a flip card that had certain information regarding our organization. They also did a second mailer that contained further information. We provided quotes and statistics, and they incorporated it into the mailer. They also produced for us what we call a sponsorship board. It’s a poster board that exhibits all the businesses that have supported us financially in our marketing endeavors.

They have also assisted me with doing new headers. We have a big event in November; it’s our major fundraising event and our annual awards luncheon. They helped me do a new “save the date” header and footer. We are working on doing the same thing for our invitation, a new header and a footer with a new look for our organization for this year.

How did you come to work with The Byne Group?

We actually interviewed two different companies. One was The Byne Group. We had another come in and tell us a little bit about what they do and show us their product and how they would move forward. We were looking to do a variety of different things, not just one thing. We had them explain not only their pricing, but also how they would go about doing the project, what they would look for from us, and what they put in themselves. We also considered the fact that they’d both been in business for a long time. Then the president of the organization and myself sat and went through everything, and we decided to go with The Byne Group.

How much have you invested with The Byne Group?

It’s somewhere around $10,000 give or take. It’s been amended only because we’ve changed some things going forward. We’re waiting to get some further pricing for those changes, because as we’ve moved forward, we’re reevaluating exactly what we do with our marketing, how we do it, who we’re trying to reach, and in what arena we want to play.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project is ongoing. We interviewed them in early July. Since then, we’ve had one mailer go out. The second mailer is about to be completed. They’ve also completed a poster board for us and they’re working on a larger trifold palm card, which is not completed yet. It’s a work in progress. Hopefully, it’ll be available in the next couple of weeks. As I indicated, we did a “save the date” and an invitation to our main fundraising annual award luncheon in November.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

We’re still gathering some feedback from our mailers. Of course, the first one went out, and the second one has not gone out yet, so I can’t really comment on those right now. I know that on our poster board, we’ve had a lot of compliments. To make that available, we do a quarterly business briefing breakfast and real estate council breakfast, and we always have the poster board with us. They’ve done a great job at being able to do that, and we carry it with us wherever we go. For the “save the date”, we’ve had a lot of compliments on the new look of it. Each project was done by The Byne Group.

How did The Byne Group perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve been excellent on all accounts. They are very communicative. They respond to my emails in a very timely fashion. All prices and estimates are provided, and they wait for our approval before moving forward. We try to do everything expeditiously, and they provide the feedback and the components of what we need to do very quickly and in a very professional manner.

What did you find most impressive about The Byne Group?

Having never really dealt with a marketing firm before, I found them to be very professional. When I asked a question about how they would recommend doing something, they were cognizant of the fact that we are a not-for-profit and that financially, we have to make sure that we use our funds to the best of our ability without any wasteful spending. They listen to our comments and our suggestions, and of course, we do the same to them because they’re the professionals in the arena and we’re the consumer.

While I was working with The Byne Group, one of the members of their staff whom I had primarily been interacting with got another position outside of the agency. I was a little unnerved having to then work with somebody else, but the transition was very good and very professional.

Are there any areas The Byne Group could improve?

We’re still trying to complete all of the tasks involved and we’re midway through a lot of them. When you use a marketing firm and you have a website, there always has to be some correlation so that it makes sense for people who may go on to our website via a piece of marketing that they provided. That correlation is an ongoing tool we’re still working our way through.

BACKGROUND

Please describe your organization.

I work for the municipal government of Rockland County in the New York state.

What is your position?

I am the communications director of the county. I handle all the external and internal communications for the county.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What business challenge were you trying to address with The Byne Group?

We wanted to rebrand the county. We wanted to update our county seal, and rebrand in order to market to tourists, as well as people looking to invest and create jobs here.

We wanted to show a bit of a culture change within the organization, so it was threefold: a new branding that would represent what we are as far as tourism and visitors, what we are to outside investors and people looking to bring jobs here, and what we are to the people who live and pay taxes here.

SOLUTION

Please describe the scope of their involvement in greater detail.

The Byne Group provided the graphic design of the rebrand. They helped me come up with the actual branding, color scheme, design, text, and fonts. Then, they developed a brand for the county, and unique brands for the individual departments in the county, like the department of public transportation, for example. It was one major brand for the entire county, as far as a generic logo, and then department-specific logos as you dig down into the layers of government. They developed both of those, similar color schemes, similar fonts, but department-specific as opposed to a generic one.

How did you come to work with The Byne Group?

We chose The Byne Group after having seen some of their previous work. They had done some website design in the area. I noticed that the sites they developed were really good. When I met with them, it was an immediate click because I needed some creative thinkers and people who thought outside the box, and they were really good. The Byne Group really delivered.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

The project cost was under $10,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project is 90% done.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

It’s still early. We haven’t officially rolled out the new brand. From the soft launch that we’ve had already, everybody loves it. It’s an updated look and it’s a great color. The people within the government and outside the government say it looks very professional, and it’s a big departure from where we were.

How did The Byne Group perform from a project management standpoint?

The Byne Group's project management was very good. They were always on top of everything: timelines, deadlines, and responsiveness.

What distinguishes The Byne Group from other providers?

Their creativity and ability to think outside the box sets them apart. They came up with a lot of great concepts.

Is there anything The Byne Group could have improved or done differently?

No.

BACKGROUND

Please describe your organization.

I work for Nyack Hospital, which is a community hospital that provides acute medical, surgical and emergency services.

What is your position?

I'm the Director of Public Relations & Marketing for the hospital.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What business challenge were you trying to address with The Byne Group?

The Byne Group is our marketing and advertising agency. I work with them on promoting hospital services, in a very competitive marketplace. The healthcare industry is very active with marketing, so it is important that our message stands out in a sea of healthcare advertisements. As our service lines change or grow, we work together to create a cohesive message that will attract the audiences we are targeting.

The Byne Group helps us with education and community outreach. Last year, we started a monthly infographic campaign to accompany health tips that we promote. Most are designed with hospital service lines in mind to bring about awareness of relevant health issues that our experts can address. Our last two annual Breast Cancer Awareness Campaigns have been widely recognized with numerous awards, the latest of which is a gold award from the American Cancer Advertising Awards.

SOLUTION

Please describe the scope of their involvement in greater detail.

We meet at the end of each year to discuss what our marketing initiatives are for the following year. The Byne Group provides assistance with strategizing and campaign planning which includes print, digital, social media and event-related opportunities.

The Byne Group has assisted us with launching social media accounts and has created a brand new website for the hospital and physicians group, which will launch in the spring this year. They established branding guidelines for both the hospital and physicians group and provide design and layout services for all of our marketing creative efforts.

The scope of the creative work they have assisted us with includes print advertisements, digital ads, social media ads, flyers, posters, patient booklets, infographics, brochures, escalator wraps, flags, billboards, LCD screen ads and promotional items.

How did you come to work with The Byne Group?

I had the opportunity to hire the Byne Group at my former job. We were looking to rebrand the organization, which was composed of four different non-profits. We interviewed a number of marketing groups and they were selected by a number of members of our executive leadership.

We worked together on a corporate rebranding project which included a new website, collateral materials and advertising campaigns.

Three years ago, I began working for the hospital which was a longtime client of The Byne Group. I have had the pleasure of working with them now for almost ten years.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

The Byne Group is on annual retainer for the hospital. They also work on special projects which are outside the scope of the retainer.

What is the status of this engagement?

It's an ongoing engagement.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

The hospital offers free breast cancer screenings three times a year, and they help us market that program. We have seen a healthy increase in the number of people that come for the free screening which is making a difference in the health of our community.

As most communities, we have a diverse population that we serve. As such, the Byne Group helps us translate materials into five different languages. Our new website will also offer the opportunity for individuals to read in other languages as well as adjust the size of the text.

How did The Byne Group perform from a project management standpoint?

The Byne Group's project management has been excellent. They are on top of everything and always lets us know what they need from us to move forward. The designers are incredibly creative, always giving us several options to work from. They always offer us creative ideas from the conservative, to pushing the envelope and in-between.

We have been fortunate to have the support of the hospital administration to move ahead with designs that are more contemporary and a bit edgy, the results of which have been recognized by consumers and with awards as well.

What distinguishes The Byne Group from other providers?

For me it's their accessibility. As an example, today I have already been communicating via email with them on several different projects just in the first few hours of the day. Having the freedom to reach out to them as something pops up is a comfort that I would be lost without.

There is no lag time with their responses. They function as staff for me and are all very eager and willing to help. They maintain a can do and very positive attitude, even when we are faced with something that might seem a little daunting or challenging. They work as a team and their talents and strengths definitely complement each other. Ann Byne, the Principal, has done an amazing job with hiring the right staff. They all get along so well.

Is there anything The Byne Group could have improved or done differently?

No, not really. I have no complaints at all. I think the only challenges that we face, and it's not on their end, would be sometimes we start something here and then for good reason, the game plan changes and we have to turn on a dime. They're very good at adapting and doing what is needed for the new direction.

BACKGROUND

Please describe your organization.

My company is called RoniSnacks, and it is a gluten-free granola and snack business.

What is your position?

I am the founder and at the moment the chef, as well.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What business challenge were you trying to address with The Byne Group?

I needed help with creating a brand for the company. I was also looking for an agency that would design a logo and packaging for our products.

SOLUTION

Please describe the scope of their involvement in greater detail.

I met with them in person. I brought them a sample of the product. They also asked me to provide them with a little history behind the product before I met with them. During that meeting, we discussed what my visions were and what the product meant to me. There was a  brainstorming session, and it was pretty remarkable to watch the things they extracted from the product and the other ideas they came up with. Then, after we met, they sent me a lead-out proposal of what they were going to do. Within a couple of weeks, we had some actual designs for the company name. They gave me several logo choices to choose from as well.

Once I approved that, the next step was to meet with them again to discuss packaging. I brought them different bags and things like that for them to help me appraise them. What would look the best on the shelf? What would sell the product? What would send the message to the best customer to fit with my brand? Then they went ahead, and designed the packaging, and they were just absolutely spot on. What they came up with could not have been more in line and more perfect for what I had envisioned. It was fantastic! I was very very impressed!

How did you come to work with The Byne Group?

It was through word of mouth. I knew other people that had used them and I also know one of the employees of The Byne Group.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

It was all under $10,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project is completed, but we may work together again on a web design project.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

I haven't launched yet, so I do not have any metrics to share. But, I do sell to friends and family, and the reaction to the product design was outstanding. They thought it was absolutely stunning and something they would really reach for on the shelves.

How did The Byne Group perform from a project management standpoint?

I got a response immediately. Within a couple of hours of sending the Byne Group an email, I always had a response. They were always available to talk with. Everything was delivered to me within the timeframe they had set out.

What distinguishes The Byne Group from other providers?

The Byne Group's enthusiasm is unbelievable. I got the sense that they really want this to succeed, which was very nice to feel. They weren't just there to design. They really believe in the product and were really encouraging, which was something that was a nice added bonus.

When they explained their thought process behind each of the designs they gave me, their creativity and how good they are at what they do, just blew me away, it really did. It's so far from what I do!

Is there anything The Byne Group could have improved or done differently?

No, I felt like everything went really smoothly. I had a really positive experience.

The campaign has increased the support of the community and has diminished the existing negative atmosphere. The Byne Group was flexible with the timeline and continues to support changes to the project.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

BACKGROUND

Please describe your organization.

Our company is a nationwide real estate development and investment firm. We specialize in acquisition, development and management of commercial and industrial real estate throughout the United States, operating a portfolio of more than 120 properties in 28 states.

What is your position?

As leasing and marketing coordinator, I oversee marketing efforts for the parent company and properties throughout the country. I handle positioning and communications for our internal and external clients helping the leasing department accommodate local, national and international tenants.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What business challenge were you trying to address with The Byne Group?

Our company did not yet operate in the immediate area of a large property we were acquiring. A small group of local people felt that an existing tenant was operating in an unsafe manner; this was untrue. We needed local expertise to find ways to become a part of the community and respectfully diminish these claims.

SOLUTION

Please describe the scope of their involvement in greater detail.

The Byne Group was quickly identified as a firm with the local and regional expertise to assist us. After our initial meeting, they immediately began putting together a comprehensive plan to watch over and direct these discussions at the local level. They helped us connect to professional and civic groups, community events, local leaders, and also created a website to regain the positive momentum needed to progress the project. The Byne Group helped teach us about the community and what the site means to the locals as it has provided generations from the area both high quality jobs and long-lasting memories.

How did you come to work with The Byne Group?

They came highly recommended.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

I would like to keep that confidential.

What is the status of this engagement?

It’s ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

Though public perception is difficult to measure, the overall support of the community has grown and the strength of the negative campaign has continued to fizzle.

What distinguishes The Byne Group from other providers?

The Byne Group was flexible when the project stretched out months past our initial estimate, and continues to be a great source of support as we work through the rebranding of this site and consider local sentiments about the historic site.

Is there anything The Byne Group could have improved or done differently?

No. I can’t think of anything.
