MENTOR National is a national not for profit organization whose mission is to fuel the quality and quantity of mentors. MENTOR focuses on programming, public campaigns, advocacy and building a vast affiliate network. I was the Chief Program Officer for the organization and the lead on the project with Breadnbeyond.
For what projects/services did your company hire Breadnbeyond, and what were your goals?
We had recently released a multi-chapter book, Becoming a Better Mentor. The product was meant for your everyday mentor to pick up and use as they mentor young people.
Because the chapters were written by researchers and contained dense overviews, we wanted to create animated videos to make the product more accessible to a general audience. MENTOR had worked with Breadnbeyond previously to create one animated video for our education campaign.
We had a good experience, so contracted with them to create 14 video animations (one to correlate with each chapter of the book).
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We selected them based on their previous work with MENTOR. They were able to work quickly, effectively and within budget. With that in mind, we asked them to bid on this new, larger project. Their bid came in within our budget and since we had had a good experience with them in the past, we decided to go with them.

We first met to build a timeline for when MENTOR would get storyboards to Breadnbeyond, when they would have first drafts and when we would need to get feedback to them. It was a very tight timeline, so we had to agree quickly and commit to the timeline in order to meet a hard deadline.
They shared a storyboard template that I used to translate the content from the book into a visual storyboard. They shared with us animation ideas and we put one together first to get the process down. Once the first was approved, we did the rest in batches of 4.
There was a lot of back and forth between MENTOR and Breadnbeyond and they were amazing at adapting and adjusting to the feedback as we went along.
Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?
Breadnbeyond assigned Ky as our lead project manager and she was meticulous. She kept everything on track and was super communicative.
We set up a Basecamp site and every morning she had posted new to dos for us. During the day, I would gather feedback on drafts and share them back for review. This went on like this for the duration of the project. It was a very smooth process.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
We met our deadline! We were able to launch all 14 videos in time for National Mentoring Month in January. Thus far, we have gotten great feedback on the animations.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
I answered this above, but we used Basecamp and we were able to communicate extremely well through it. The time difference was a non-issue.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
They are meticulous in their project management. I knew exactly what was expected of me and what delays on my end would mean to the project. When there were delays on the MENTOR side, they adapted and helped brainstorm solutions with us.
We had to re-negotiate because the deliverable date got moved up to coincide with an event that was earlier in January than we had originally planned. They quickly re-negotiated and we were able to get the work done for a rush fee.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Given that we completed 14 animations in a three month timeline, I was impressed with how they handled the work. I would recommend that whomever writes the scripts and does the storyboards, be very well-versed in how to do that especially if the timeline is tight.
There was little time to go back and forth, so no room for error. They were an amazing partner on this project and I would highly recommend them!

We have worked with BreadnBeyond in the past for another animation video. When we went through a rebrand we needed to update our video and the content within, so we immediately reached out to BnB because we were so pleased with their previous work.

We started with a discovery meeting. We worked with them to create a script and showed them the type of illustration we were going for. They provided a detailed storyboard then sent over some voice samples and music samples to choose from. Following that we were delivered a 1 minute video, exactly what we envisioned.
Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?
We worked with Ky - who was absolutely amazing. We were given access to a chat / suggestion board through BaseCamp where we were able to comment and provide feedback every step of the way.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
We've received a lot of positive feedback from stakeholders, customers, and colleagues about the video and it's been watched thousands of times.

Ky was extremely easy to communicate with, always answering any questions we had - and very quickly! The turnaround for every piece was fast and were done with zero delays.

They came recommended by Lemonadestand Markeitng. This recommendation was critical, but so was BreadNBeyond's approach and clear path to success.

The video is intended to show the new capabilities of the platform while recognizing our client's need to overcome the many hurdles that stand between them and their success (both business and personal success). They have goals they cannot afford to miss and we help them reach those goals on our enterprise-wide platform we custom create for them after our discovery process.
We provided BNB a basic storyboard and a fairly baked-out script. They did a great job of turning our vision into an animated video by providing script suggestions and easily modifying their versions of the video along the way. It was a great experience headed by Sophie!

We worked with our sales lead, Fanny A, initially and she did a great job of understanding our goals. Once it was turned over to Sophie for project management, it continued to be a great experience. They were timely and responsive to our requests/changes. At no time did we feel like we weren't going to get the video we wanted. I highly recommend BreadNBeyond!

We have not really shared it with customers at the moment but the feedback from our sales team is very good.

We provided a brief story outline (the video was only meant to be 1 minute) and the basic art direction and style. The process was smooth and the result were clear.

We worked with Ky mainly. He's been great through the process with timely feedback and almost instant responses. I liked BreadnBeyond whole attitude to project management setting the client up with a shared platform; and it did please me to see in the first email state 'that they would likely over-communicate' - great for me! It was good they had a consistent account-manager (project manager).

The resulting work was fantastic and was the process of working with the team. The explainer video exceeded expectations and we immediately gave them some other work soon after. It will be great to share the video with our customers when we relaunch our website.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I work as a marketing specialist for KeyOpp Property Management, a property management located in San Francisco.
What challenge were you trying to address with Breadnbeyond?
We wanted to create a 1 minute and 30-second explainer video that could be placed on the first page of our website as an intro and overarching introduction of our company. We also wanted to showcase what we offer and provide a quick gist of what we do.
What was the scope of their involvement?
I gave Breadnbeyond an outline of the key points that we wanted to address in our script. They had a scriptwriter that started the rough draft and once it came over, I edited most of it. After that, I passed it along to internal team members and the owner of the company to get their inputs. Then, they did a little bit more revisions to get the script right. Once the script was ready, we moved on to getting the visual storyboard created.
Between drafting the first storyboard and finishing the script, we were going back and forth to figure out the voice and attitude that we wanted for our video. The storyboard revision happened 3–4 times.
Between the storyboard and the written script, they sent six-voice samples so that we could choose who we preferred to narrate the whole story. Before reading the narration of the script, we told them how to pronounce it and where the emphasis should go. We also wanted to incorporate a lot of colors — nothing too detailed to the animation, but something very modern looking. One of the critiques we wanted to include was a little bit more diversity in the end product because the original first draft didn’t have many people of color in the animation.
What is the team composition?
I worked with two people, one of them was a salesperson.
How did you come to work with Breadnbeyond?
I contacted them after doing some research on various companies. They started off by asking me the length of the video and what kind of animation I was looking for. They also wanted to know my deadline before giving me a quote.
Through looking at different quotes from various companies, I decided Breadnbeyond was our best choice because it was really easy to talk to them. They responded in a timely manner and I just had a good feeling about working with them.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent around $4,300.
What is the status of this engagement?
The collaboration happened from October 2020–January 2021.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
They did a good job. The internal team was really happy with their final revision. They were able to pull everything together. There was a series of slide shows that was a little bit out of order and didn’t really make sense, but once that was completed, everything went smoothly.
Above all, we received positive feedback from their work. For this project, we only needed one, but in the future, if we need more short videos, we would definitely go back to them.
How did Breadnbeyond perform from a project management standpoint?
They had great communication skills and their efforts in communicating and delivering what we wanted was great. We used Basecamp to communicate. They also received feedback really well, and their turnaround time to make adjustments was very fast.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their communication skills distinguish them from other service providers. They were always quick, polite, and weren’t pushy while I was getting quotes for other animation videos. Above all, they had a sense of urgency in addressing our concerns. Furthermore, they were very thorough, patient, and professional.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They could be a bit more mindful and attentive to the information that they’re going to put in their visuals. For example, towards the end of our video, we were providing help to manage the property of a third-party client, and we wanted to focus on the idea that our prospective customers could have more time to focus on more important things in life.
The scene was supposed to be the property owner on vacation with his wife and kids. However, there was a little bit of misstep because the original image that they had was of a man on the beach with his laptop. Instead of that, we wanted the man to close his laptop so that he could focus on his family. However, they corrected that right away.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Go into the project with a good idea of what you want. Being very direct with them is the best way to go about it. If you’re a little bit vague about what you want to get across, there might be a little bit of a hurdle you have to get over such as subtle things that may misalign.

Started with online research of companies that specialized in explainer videos. Selected 4 to interview and receive proposals from. Had internal Team assess capabilities and proposals of the different vendors.

The Explainer used a dramatization of a potential patient scenario to demonstrate the therapy's capabilities. Breadnbeyond provided a detailed schedule at the beginning of the project to outline the required work and turn around times on both sides to complete the project on time. The higher-level deliverables were the script, storyboard, and animation with check-ins at each point to assure alignment.
What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?
As Breadnbeyond is located in Indonesia and 12 hours ahead of us, they would have their updated work to us when we began work. We would review and provide feedback by the end of the day so they would come in the following morning ready to respond to that feedback.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Although initially created for a specific event, our US and international Field Team have asked to have access to the piece to include or reference in their communications. We had a few hundred views of the video within the first week with the limited promotion of it.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Excellent. As described in the feedback process, our Team and Breadnbeyond met all time commitments. Breadnbeyond also was great in taking the verbal feedback and translating that to the visual product that met/exceeded our expectations.
Breadnbeyond also was very flexible to the times where we came back with additional feedback after we had previously agreed to certain content or visual approaches.

They met every one of their commitments and delivered a final product that our Team was very pleased with.

What were your goals for this project?
The goals for BCG project is to create an explainer video that summarizes what BCG immersion center has to offer and provide a high level information about how they can help their clients and also create a call to action for contacting their specific team for further information.
How did you select this vendor?
I select BreadnBeyond solely based on their work that they have done for various clients, and the aesthetics that they can produce matches to what I have in mind for BCG project.

Duro engaged BreadnBeyond from the start by providing them with our initial visual direction that has been vetted by BCG. From there, BreadnBeyond work with with their team to produce a storyboard based on the script that BCG had provided. Once the client approves the storyboard, BreadnBeyond team continue working on the animation and provides couple of review checkpoints to make sure that everything aligns with client's expectations. The after several weeks they deliver the final animation.
What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?
They provided a clear schedule where I can see all the milestones and be able to communicate all the expectations to Andre in a timely fashion. Their process helps me to set expectations with BCG and reducing the back and forth feedbacks that could result in a delay in final delivery.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
BCG client was very happy with the result and they use the video for their internal sales meeting.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
I found that there is no hiccups whatsoever in working with BreadnBeyond because Duro has been using a similar process and I have been very forthright with Andre in terms of expectations and he is very accommodating with all the client's feedbacks and I really appreciate the professionalism that his team upholds to take the project to the finish line.

I am the founder and CEO of Paradox Marketing, We are a full service digital marketing agency. We have 30 staff spread across Australia, Indonesia and the Philippines currently.
For what projects/services did your company hire Breadnbeyond?
We wanted to make an explainer video for one of our clients that addressed a common pain point for when someone hires removalists to move their home. This is 'depot fees' or the fee that is charged from when a truck leaves its depot until the truck is back in its own depot. Not every company charges this, and we wanted to explain why this particular company does.
What were your goals for this project?
Our goal was two-fold. One for people to be able to watch the vidoe and understand why the extra charge existed in the first place. Two we were hoping that moving companies in non-competition locations would share it around and also link back to the client's website for having built such a useful resource. Allowing them to embed it on their own sites providing there was a link back.
How did you select this vendor?
We selected the vendor as we had just finished doing some other work with them and because we are in the same online facebook groups with one another.

What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?
We were extremely impressed with the project management side of things. It took a little longer than expected but this was 100% because of us not providing everything needed in a timely fashion. This was met with non-confrontational yet consistent follow-ups from their project manager to help keep the project on track. They invited us into their base camp project management system also, which was a nice change from numerous cluttered email threads going back and forth. Each time we asked for a small change they came back promptly with a proof for us to approve before the video was then updated.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Our clients and everyone we showed the video to were extremely happy with the production quality. We didn't manage to build many backlinks to it (as removalists never want to link to each other) The presence of the embedded video on the blog page that hosts it (previously it was an all-text blog) greatly increased the average time on the page.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
The workflow was extremely effective, with their central project management system and dedicated project manager, the only weak point was myself and the few details or reviews I needed to supply.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
The price was definitely a major factor. So many firms that seem to charge either a tiny amount but then their own portfolio looks like something I could generate with a SaaS product myself. Then other firms had really high production quality but a much much larger price tag. Breadnbeyond seemed to be the perfect blend of production quality and budget. If the video was too much more in price it wouldn't have made sense for us to use it for such a small factor in the sales cycle of a client.
Are there any areas for improvement?
I can't think of any
The animated videos were launched in time and gained positive feedback from the viewers. Breadnbeyond was receptive to the client’s input and communicated effectively. The team was prompt in providing high-quality work, and they were meticulous in project management.
