Bike Shop Switzerland is a business that we have had a long running relationship with. Established in 2004, they initially focused on organising cycling tours throughout Switzerland; in 2009 they began shipping high quality rental bikes across the country, before launching a store which sells bikes, cycling

clothing and accessories in 2012.

 

After initially coming to us a few years ago with a bike rental site in need of some TLC, we recently helped to launch a new website for all of their sales, built on Magento 2.1.

 

Our most recent work with Bike Shop Switzerland was updating their online store to be ready for the 2017 cycling season. We decided to build this store on Magento 2.1 because it is the strongest open source eCommerce platform on the market. With the bespoke multi-option functionality that they required, we felt confident that it was the only way forward.

 

We produced a new design whilst upgrading from Magento 1 to version 2.1 to give them a fresh look whilst retaining brand identity through integration with their existing bike rentals and tours websites. Keeping the UX clear and concise, we customised the catalogue to ensure user browsing was as simple as possible and configured a custom search functionality so that customers would easily be able to find what they were looking for.

In one of the project portal we posted our project requirement, we got several proposals to build our online system. From Born Techies Solutions we got correct answers as we expected, consultation was good from them. And, they are selected.

The project was defined in well formatted documentation, so, 1st they created flow chart of the project, graphics & mockups were created by a skilled designer of them. Meanwhile we agreed to make the project in BigCommerce platform. Once designs are confirmed, in 2nd phase development of the project was started using BigCommerce system. Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The BigCommerce is an awesome app to build an ecommerce website, once the project launched, we fund customer liked most to purchase our office accessories online. We used to have 100 customers offline a day, and now days 2000+ customers online, it's a lot difference for us in doing business. Our Microsoft Dynamic ERP is now connected with our online system, and products/inventories are synced automatically. Customers data can be managed easily now. So, customer trends are now easy to understand, which customers needs what types of products.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Basecamp was there to manage project, daily updates by Born Techies developers, slack to verbal & non-verbal communications, meetings. Sometimes, because of country time difference we had some issues, but overall, communication & project management was perfact.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

BigCommerce customization skills I found most impressive about Born Techies Solutions. When I asked I need this solutions to be made, they always said it's feasible, and delivered in quick time. Their staff executives were cool & very supportive. Sales team was good, just because of them documentation process completed in quick time.

Are there any areas for improvement?

When project was in development phase, we had some communication gap because of time different between India, USA & Australia. So, they must setup country based team, and available whole day time when needed.

OrangeScrum PMS system we were managing all project requirement, slack we were using to chat and tasks communication notification, git was setup for code review and commits.

From our old platform Opencart they migrated all data to Shopify system including products, categories, reviews, orders. Then designer team at Born Techies started designing mockups for us. After we confirmed the designs, the development team integrated in Shopify theme, and made all functional changes we required.

The tough customization they built for us is - custom NetSuite ERP integration, because Shopify doesn't give so much flexibility, but with positive approach we managed it. After the application was made, they really helped us with Google Ad marketing, facebook store.

The project was built by 2 Shopify Backend & 2 Shopify Frontnend developers. Along with this team, one project manager was assign to discuss some queries related to management & project release.

In our old system Opencart we had lots of server side issue, site went down almost every day, bad coding etc. After moving to new Shopify system, well built by Born Techies, a smooth e-commerce experience we are experiencing.

Previously we were getting many complaints from customer about failed payments, now, since new system in use, we didn't get a single complaint from customers about payment failure or missing products.

Obviously it helped us in sales, attracting more customers. We got 55% hike in revenue of last 6 months. Indeed we feel we are doing actual online business without feeling fear about our store.

Skype & Jira were our tools to communicate with BornTechies team in India. We always a scrum meeting in the morning before they start work, so the project was streamlined and got success to complete in time.

Born Techies helped us to setup Facebook & Google shopping integration. SAP ERP we are using, and they also synced BigCommrce with SAP. New thing Born Techies suggested is Akeneo - Product Information Management. Such a great system.

Total 7 eCommerce developers involved in this project. Sales team was in connection all time, starting from SOW to delivery of the project. Asana scrum & release development we followed to develop our eCommerce project. From our side two technical executives were in touch with them to clear all requirement.

Apart from this we hired two QA/testers to test each of our modules. And one deployment manager was there at Born Techies who was managing code versioning. These all helped us to build our dream store mmfurniture.com.

Very first impact is newest technology BigCommerce is now in use with our company MM Furniture. Now hackers neither able to access our store's files nor able to hack our data. All safe now.

Our team at PA, USA is very happy, all order processing system is very easy now. UPS shipping integration is doing great job. We can not imagine, that every day we process 250 orders with new system. Our Facebook store is rocking, Born Techies helped us to setup the same.

Asana was our project management tool to manage all tasks. Born Techies assigned one project manager to manage all task assignments. Technical things are done by BigCommerce developers. And code versioning are setup to be done with GITLab and auto deployment, so no manual code uploading.

They always give commitments to convince us, and they deliver the same they committed for. Born Techies provided excellent eCommerce development services and very fast delivery we got.

Two mobile application development teams & one web development teams were working on the project. Basecamp project management tool we were using to keep all team at one place and connected with each other.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Certainly, I would say, mobile commerce is bringing 70% plus customer more to our business. We've had thousands of downloads from customers who love using our app. With automated email marketing, automated google ad, facebook ad & instagram ad - now we are reaching to those specific book readers we really want to buy those specific books.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

On basecamp we describe all our requirement along with deadline date to complete the tasks/sprint. Git was there for code versioning. App release manager was working for continues app releases. It helped us to manage zero conflicts between all app dev teams. And 99% work completed on or before release date.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

You helped us in building our online book selling & book reading store, IOS & Android eCommerce mobile applications. www.aeditions.al When we started this app development, we were a small company in Albania.

But, after we have web & mobile, we have become #1 eCommerce company in Albania which providing online book purchasing. Impressed with your consultation and implementing new technology which is helping us a lot in earning more sales.

First phase was making mockups & sketches, so we understand agree how our store would look like. Born Techies made it and provided to us. Then design of the project started with mobile responsive layout, and integrated to our newer Magento system.

Here they imported all our .Net system's data to Magento, along with orders, products, categories, customers, reviews and all. Then, they integrated shipping, payments, SAP ERP, ZOHO CRM, and Google Ads.

What was the team composition?

We were using PMS system JIRA to manage project, tasks and team members. So, I was leading the project requirement from US, and Born Techies was leading the development team with their one manager at India. All the communication was happening on mail/pms.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Of course, after we moved online, we are got 70% hike in the quarterly revenue.

We can easily manage our catalog & product informations though Magento system. Drop shipping functionality fulfilled by Amazon is helping us a lot, with this system we removed almost all headaches. Total 5 payment methods are setup on our online store, so, I never got a single complaint from customer, that they do not have this method to pay.

Using JIRA, we were doing project & tasks management. Where three different team were working together, one from US and two teams of Born Techies from India. We schedule a meeting, decide a timeline and they deliver on the same date they committed.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They provide excellent project quality and are committed toward the deadline. They take 100% accountability for what they build in our website. Always ready to give support on my single call.

Are there any areas for improvement?

As we and Born Techies are in different time zone, sometimes we had gap in scheduling meeting, so they might start nigh shifts to handle US clients. However most of the times we managed. So, it's just my though.

Meetings are happened on Skype or offline in Dubai or Ahmedabad. But a very few offline meetings we required. Because our whole project was managed through Jira PMS. Two team leaders were involved to handle development, design & marketing activities.

Here, Born Techies team helped us in world class Graphics Designs, different eCommerce unit setup based on customer requirements. They simplified Akeneo connectivity with our mobile commerce project with native API of Akeneo. Catalogue product management is now much easier.

Team strength was 8. Having developers, leaders, devops & QA. Devops people were responsible for sprint release of developed units. And entire team was associated with helping new customers setup eCommerce channel as per their requirement.

Then, graphics team developed graphics designs, programmers have setup online system, QA team tested whole functionalities as per our requirement. This process took 11 months to build our system, before a few months we have become the online Trade leader. And Born Techies have been providing superb support.
