Be more than a number. Work with a boutique agency
Talking to programmers is a hassle that makes creating an app a near-impossible task. Coding is really not that hard, but most programming teams miss the soft skills that allow them to empathise with your users, understand your budget constraints and put a decent app together.
Small is the new big! We are a bespoke team of experienced developers, designers and project managers with a passion for creating things that work. We never take more than 1-2 projects at a time and give them our all.

Mobile App Development for Health & Wellness Platform

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m an executive of a health and wellness app that involves music.
What challenge were you trying to address with Binary Mango?
We needed someone who could build an app for our business and collaborate to help the company grow.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They’re helping us bring the app to life. The product is mainly a meditation music player; Binary Mango took the designs we built and replicated them to the pixel with a friendly and simple UX. Currently, we’re working on the transitions of the app.
What is the team composition?
We mainly work with two people; there’s Jacobo (Founder) and Andreas (Lead Developer), but there are also a couple of developers in the background as well.
How did you come to work with Binary Mango?
We found them searching on the web and going through review sites; we had a call with them and other companies, and they were the most accommodating to the budget that we had. They also had great ideas and communication, so they offered what we needed, which the other companies couldn’t do.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent €25,000 (approximately $30,000 USD) with them.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in January 2021, and the engagement is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The product they’re building is great so far in terms of functionality. We’re still working on getting the design wholly done, but they’ve been massive in doing their work with the budget we had — they’re outstanding on all fronts.
How did Binary Mango perform from a project management standpoint?
It’s been pretty good so far; we’ve had a couple of miscommunications, but it got solved by just reaching out to them and asking what was going on to get a response to that.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They’re bringing the app to life exactly how I needed it with the money that I had to spend. Other companies gave me a quote twice as much, but Binary Mango believed in the project and helped me out.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Communication could be better, but I have to understand that because they’ve got several projects going on.
Any advice for potential customers?
Be specific in every aspect of the project and outline your expectations — you’ll be in a good spot if you do so.

Please describe your company and your position there.
Decoclub is the first mobile application that will give the best references in the decoration field.
It is a smart solution to connect the best companies in the field of decoration, space equipment and remodeling with clients with real buying potential through the reference of architects, real estate brokers and the same sellers in the store network.
In the app everyone gains economic benefits. Affiliate businesses earn more sales, sellers and promoters earn commissions, customers earn discounts. My role within the business is to lead the necessary actions so that the project can be launched on the market, stay and grow in an escalating way, learning, correcting in the process.
My specialty is the management of high-performance teams in startups and family businesses, and with this knowledge we have created and continue to build a team that is the basis of a successful operation.
For what projects/services did your company hire Binary Mango?
Binary Mango, Jacobo and his team have been selected as a tech povider of the solutions the project needs for its operation. The APP development was under Binary Mnago responsability.
What were your goals for this project?
The challenge of the development of the application was to create this ecosystem where all users interact differently, creating unique experiences in each one.
The business concept was clear and we had 70% of the best companies interested from the beginning, so the commitment was twofold, on the one hand to create a platform that works correctly and on the other hand to meet the expectations of some customers who acquired their membership before viewing the software.
Building the user stories was hard teamwork and then in just 6 weeks the developers managed to have a beta version.
How did you select Binary Mango?
based on his previous experience in the decoration field and technology area. It seemed the perfect combination for this project.

What was the team composition?
the team consisted of a leader, a project manager, a developer, a user experience specialist, a graphic designer.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The pre-release of the APP was on December 4 online and is currently being tested on clients with satisfactory results. This is the first version of the APP because there are already new ideas to incorporate.
This is also another challenge to make a software that can scale the business in the various new stages that it will have.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
It has been a learning process, making corrections in the process of being more efficients.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Binary Mango, Jacobo, and his team were a highly efficient provider. They're also very valuable contributions to our management outside of their performance area.
The work has been multilevel, weekly follow-ups, sending of material for review and they have given us the support in the country of someone with whom we have even been able to our pilot tests.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the founder and CEO of MediShout Ltd
For what projects/services did your company hire Binary Mango?
Binary Mango built an App and platform, modernized the user-experience and built many critical features. Most crucially, this needed to be achieved in a very short amount of time due to Covid-19.
What were your goals for this project?
To build an Android and iOS App that allowed reporting of Covid-19 issues, and linked to a dashboard where the data could be acted upon.
How did you select this vendor?
We found this vendor through our Chief Product Officer who had been recommended the team.
Describe the project in detail.
We needed Binary Mango build an Android and iOS App that allowed reporting of Covid-19 issues by hospitals staff, and link the data to a dashboard where it could be acted upon. Most crucially, this needed to be achieved in a very short amount of time due to Covid-19. Furthermore, due to the high security requirements of hospitals, this needed to be built to the highest standards and with governance and data-flow considerations. This needed to be integrate-able with existing health care systems and easily adopted by healthcare staff. I assure you these are some of the hardest specs to satisfy in tech development, as healthcare is complex.
What was the team composition?
From our side we provided a CPO, who was supported by the CEO and account management leads.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
WOW! The feedback from customers has already been amazing. They have actually all said the software built completely surpasses their expectations - with speed, user-experience, design and flow being the key highlight features. I have been blown away personally with how seamless the platform is to use.
Also, I had a vision of what the product should look like, but Binary Mango politely made their own suggestions, which turned out to be ten times better than my best expectations. That's a key sign of project success for me, as I received something way better than I had hoped for so they didn't just build as per the specification I gave, they had the passion to go beyond and give me the best end-product possible. I easily give them 5/5.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
It was seamless to work with their team as they are passionate about what they do, diligent and want to build the best product. They wanted to over-deliver and they did. They were so easy to communicate with, polite and courteous but always on point.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
So many things were impressive. They had a genuine passion and enthusiasm for what the product was designed to do. They were so easy to communicate with and when challenges happened they got right on top of things to ensure as a customer I never felt stressed or worried.
From the beginning, I had full faith they would build an excellent platform and they did. They completely over-delivered and extra features or designs would pop up that we didn't ask for, but they delivered to ensure we had the best end-product possible.
Are there any areas for improvement?
Honestly, I don't think there are. There were so many pressures I put on Binary Mango to deliver this to a high standard and really quickly. They were excellent, thus no room for improvement. I am glad we can move forward with them and get building more products together!

Please describe your company and your position there.
We specialise in visual thinking services including live drawing at meetings and events. I am Senior Producer for the live events team.
For what projects/services did your company hire Binary Mango?
As world leaders in our field, we wanted to explore utilitising AR to enhance our live events offering to encourage a more interactive & immersive experience for event delegates.
What were your goals for this project?
The solution needed to be intuitive, responsive, flexible and secure. It needed to bring a real wow factor and encourage people to think differently.
How did you select this vendor?
We met Binary Mango at a technology trade show and instantly clicked. They understood us and what we were about as a company and their costs were really reasonable.
Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.
They designed, developed and configured an AR app, building both the front and back end so that we could manage the app ourselves in-house. This involved multiple meetings, test phases and contact throughout the project.
What was the team composition?
We worked mainly with one key contact. During the first couple of live tests we worked with two other contacts who were on site with us to work the backend and iron out any issues.
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
We are yet to see the impact on sales for this product however internally the team is engaged with the development of the app. It has encouraged a culture of innovation and new possibilities for creative outputs.
The app has had positive feedback from multiple stakeholders who have experienced it during our soft launch stage and we look forward to seeing how this translates to sales throughout 2020 as we take it out on the road.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
Communication with the team was really great and all deadlines were met and managed well.
There were times when it was difficult, as building new tech like this can have many uncertainties and road bumps. However whenever these frustrations were aired the team were hugely helpful not only on rectifying issues quickly but also clearly and kindly explaining why processes and methods were the way they were.
This was hugely helpful in aiding further communication onto senior stakeholders.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Their openness and passion for trying new things and thinking creatively. No problem or challenge is too big to take on.
As a creative agency we have some really big thinkers on our team and finding a supplier we could partner with to understand our vision and bring this to life can sometimes be a challenge, however working with binary mango made this journey a really pleasant and fun experience!
Are there any areas for improvement?
It hasn’t always been clear what the exact deliverables were for each project section or how many iterations to something we could have to get it right. This could have been error in part on our side in miscommunicating exactly what we were looking for.
As non-techy people a little bit more hand-holding to let us know exactly what we needed to do and how I order to get the right feedback to the team might have been helpful. All in all though, we’re very happy with the build and the general communication throughout.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the marketing director for Fossil Group— a watch and accessory company. I take care of the Mexico and Latin American markets.
What challenge were you trying to address with Binary Mango?
We looked into VR and AR technologies to innovate our point of sale and create a memorable experience for customers.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We recently introduced smartwatches into our product line, which requires a lot of education for the end consumer to know the watches' main features and functionalities. Binary Mango created an engaging experience for consumers to get to know the features. Their team created an AR app for iOS to show functionalities. For example, it demonstrates that the watches are waterproof as well as its GPS and notification capabilities. The AR platform shows the features and brings people to interact with the watches.
What is the team composition?
I interacted with two people from Binary Mango.
How did you come to work with Binary Mango?
They reached out to me in the past, so I knew about them. Their team reached out again at a time when an engagement made sense based on what we were looking for.
What is the status of this engagement?
Their team worked on this project between 2018–2019.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We saw a lift in our sales and engagement. The number of people that came through our base at the point of sale grew as well.
How did Binary Mango perform from a project management standpoint?
We communicated by e-mail most of the time and Binary Mango was diligent as well as timely. Their team was professional and straightforward.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They helped us to solve problems. Their team was flexible in proposing different ways to achieve what we were looking for.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Their team could create more visibility into the project and progress such as a dashboard where we can track the work.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I am the co-founder and CEO of My Smart Bottle. We developed a smart bottle to be used in the lifestyle, sports, and healthcare world.
What challenge were you trying to address with Binary Mango?
We needed to have a smartphone application to go along with our smart bottle. My Smart Bottle is a drinking bottle that is equipped with electronics. It connects wirelessly to an application in order to follow the hydration of the user.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Our company designed the bottle mechanics, the bottle itself, and the app screens. With those designs, I went to Binary Mango who then wrote the code for an iOS and Android app.
The iOS app was built as a native application and we initially wanted to have a native Android application as well, but it was recently changed to a hybrid platform.
The basic functionalities of the application are rather straightforward. When the user drinks from their smart bottle, the quantity of liquid drank is sent to the app via Bluetooth.
The application is able to make a connection with one bottle or several bottles. It can also make calculations based on parameters. For example, if the user is a female and is of a certain weight, based on this personal data, the app will calculate the daily hydration.
When information is sent to the application, it manages hydration needs and evaluates the user at that moment. The app can create overviews of hydration throughout the day, the last few days, the week, or the month.
The bottle is not yet on the market, but the application is ready and will be available for free shortly. When users purchase a smart bottle, they will be able to download the app for free.
What is the team composition?
We worked with three people from their team including one iOS developer, one Android developer, and Jacobo (CTO, Binary Mango) was always the in-between. I had a few discussions with the developers, but 90% of the time, I dealt with Jacobo.
How did you come to work with Binary Mango?
We met them at a conference. We had a little stand with My Smart Bottle at an innovation festival in London. They passed by and presented themselves, we started talking with them, and they made an offer.
We did some comparisons with other companies and given all the discussions, we felt Binary Mango was the best choice to help us develop our application.
How much have you invested in them?
We spent around £30,000 Pounds (approximately $39,231 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked with them from 2018–November 2019.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The app isn’t available yet, but I’ve sent samples of the bottle to potential customers who had a link to use the product along with the application. The feedback that we’ve received so far has been positive.
How did Binary Mango perform from a project management standpoint?
It was very nice to work with them. They have a lot of flexibility, even during the weekend. When we needed to test something on the weekend due to issues, they reacted quickly and were flexible.
They are very professional, and I am really satisfied with them. The app will continue to be developed all the time in order to add new features, and we will continue working with Binary Mango for that.
We used all types of communication channels. We mostly communicated through email, WhatsApp and calls. I also visited them in London as well.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their creativity makes them stand out, not only in their app development, but also in their approach with their clients. They are very creative and original when presenting themselves. This was something that grabbed our attention.
Are there any areas they could improve?
There is always room for improvement. This is a more difficult question because I have had a good experience with them.
It would have been interesting to meet the team. I am not sure this would be necessary to develop an application, but I like to meet people and talk with them about development decisions.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Potential customers should talk with them from the beginning and be very clear in their requests. I was very clear with my requests, and they were very clear in their responses.
I’ve had a very positive experience with them. I’d advise other companies to work with Binary Mango because, from my point of view, they are good.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
G8 Ventures is a technology consultancy and digital business based in Spain. We work with different clients in the digital area, like big enterprises looking for new ways to make money in the digital world. We work with banks, beer distributors, furniture distributors, and so on, helping them undergo the transformation process from being analogic to digital companies.
I’m the managing partner of the company, and my partner is the founder and CEO of the company. I get involved with a lot of projects, directing them from beginning to end.
What challenge were you trying to address with Binary Mango?
My goal was to find a partner on the technology side of product development. We were developing a marketplace for a Mexican furniture company. This was a very large project from a technological standpoint, so we wanted to have the support of a company that focuses specifically on that area, or at least has more abilities than we do, to help us with the client and be on top of it from beginning to end. We needed counsel on the best ways to implement new digital products and develop the entire marketplace. One of the main requirements was for the marketplace to handle a large number of orders and products.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We handled all UX design in-house, but we consulted with Binary Mango to see whether there could be better technological strategies or other ways to execute the UX. Some things changed, but we basically did the design in-house, and then we hired Binary Mango for the development of the product. We had consultancy sessions every week to discuss anything we hadn’t thought of while doing the design.
Binary Mango built the platform on Magento 2. The site has a lot of features, including 3D product visualizations. Binary Mango implemented smart 3D technology so that clients can see and place our products within their own spaces.
What is the team composition?
I’m in direct contact with three of them, including Jacob (CTO, Binary Mango), a developer, and a project manager that helps us achieve goals on time. I’m not sure if more people are working in the background.
How did you come to work with Binary Mango?
My partner and I were looking for developers for this project, but we couldn’t find a very good price-quality ratio locally. I knew Jacob from my hometown, and I knew Binary Mango had done a lot of cutting-edge work. We preferred hiring them over a team we weren’t familiar with, which might not have worked out as well.
How much have you invested with them?
The cost so far is 53,000, either euros or pounds (approximately $59,000–$69,000 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
The overall project started in February 2019, we began talking with Binary Mango in March, and we officially started once we were ready with the design. Our work together is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Binary Mango helped us build the platform in a better, more efficient way. The feedback so far has been amazing. The client came to us for the idea and the technology part. They didn’t know Magento 2 at all; they have a development team for other brands of theirs, but they didn’t have access to this level of knowledge. The team at Binary Mango knows this product very well. It’s been amazing for the client, and they’re very happy.
How did Binary Mango perform from a project management standpoint?
The process is accurate and very good, which is reassuring to me. Jacob is always available, which is something we value a lot. We’ve been using Slack and Trello a lot with them.
We handle project management in-house, so we didn’t need a lot of help organizing what we were doing or when we’d be developing different functionalities. The challenge is taking care of unplanned things, and I’m very happy with that specifically. Projects such as this can be stressful, and the hardest part is managing unexpected situations. Their responses to different problems we’ve encountered have been amazing; they respond to new problems very quickly.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The fast response is the most important thing for me. They’ve always been available and willing to fix things. We plan a lot of things ahead of time, but handling things that weren’t planned is the hardest part for everyone involved. Time and again, they’ve responded fast. They’re willing to do anything to make the client happy. Also, their quick response times don’t take away from how great they are at development. They’re very good, and they understand cutting-edge technologies. It was important for us to find a good developer, but their willingness to do everything well and respond fast has been outstanding. It’s not something I usually encounter.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I don’t have anything specific. They’re based in Miami, and the time difference was a bit hard to deal with in the beginning. Since Jacob came back to Spain, I haven’t felt that at all.
I don’t have any negative things to mention. We’ve had a very good experience so far, and we haven’t had any issues at all. I feel very happy.
Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?
It’s important to have a clear understanding of what the product is from the beginning. It’ll help them find the best technologies. In my case, we had a long consultancy in the beginning, and we were very clear about what we wanted to do, so it was very easy for them to suggest the right technology.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the general manager of Forest Travel, a full flight and luxury travel agency.
What challenge were you trying to address with Binary Mango?
We needed to develop an application.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Binary Mango built a client-facing native app for both Android and iOS devices. Users can log in to the app and book flights. We worked closely with our internal web design to create a color scheme, but the Binary Mango team handled most of the design and all of the development.
What is the team composition?
Jacobo (CTO, Binary Mango) was my main point of contact. He acted as the project manager in coordinating everything, but I believe he also was involved in quality control or development: he knew a lot about what was being done.
How did you come to work with Binary Mango?
I’ve known Jacobo for a long time. He used to work with my brother at a business intelligence company; they later split, and Jacobo started Binary Mango.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent about $25,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
The project took place in 2017.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Everyone absolutely loves the app. I think it’s one of the best pieces of technology ever developed. It was a true direction changer for our clients in our market.
How did Binary Mango perform from a project management standpoint?
Their project management was fantastic. One of the things I liked about working with Binary Mango is that their timelines were super on point. They did a good job of managing expectations about timelines. Whenever we had to change the timing, they updated the schedule expectations to prevent misunderstandings.
We had an Asana page to record tasks and to-dos, but I’m horrible about updating project management tools. We mostly communicated with Jacobo over email or the phone.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The last thing I want in a third-party vendor is an order-taker company that does exactly what I ask them to do. Binary Mango looked at the problems I faced and used that to propose a better solution than what I’d thought of. I have no experience in app development, so relying on their expertise to do something better saved us a lot of back and forth.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Honestly, I can’t think of anything—I had such a great experience.
Any advice for potential customers?
Let Binary Mango guide you. They really know what they’re doing to find the perfect solution. They’re creative and critical thinkers who understand how to make a solution that goes beyond something that’s pretty and what the client asks for.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the managing partner of a marketing agency. We have a bit more than 50 people, and we work with large brands in Latin America.
What challenge were you trying to address with Binary Mango?
We’ve worked with Binary Mango a lot. I believe this collaboration was specifically for an augmented reality project for one of our larger clients.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Binary Mango helped us develop the front- and backend and the whole concept of the application. The main idea came from our agency but they basically came up with the whole concept and UI/UX wireframing and later designed the entire experience and frontend.
The application was for the sales team of Duracell, enabling them to place exhibitors in the application using AR and show those to supermarkets and big shops. Companies like Duracell basically buy spots in supermarkets to sell their batteries. The sales team uses the app in shops across Latin America to showcase how the exhibitors are going to look in those places.
What is the team composition?
I’m involved with the agency, but not to a great level of detail. I believe there were 3–4 people from Binary Mango involved. I always talked to Jacobo (CTO, Binary Mango) who was managing everything. They have a very confident team and they deliver.
How did you come to work with Binary Mango?
We have a lot of resources and a lot of provider databases. We probably started working with their account manager. I had a lot of contact with him since this is an important project for us, but I don’t remember how we found them.
How much have you invested with them?
This was a mid-sized project, so the engagement with Binary Mango was probably between $10,000–$20,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
I think this project started in 2016 or 2017.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Binary Mango is very detail-oriented, which is the main thing I love about them. If they commit to a date, they deliver on it, and there’s not a lot of back and forth usually. Jacobo has a lot of criteria; he’s not just a normal developer. He really a business and marketing mindset, which leads to quality graphics, ideas, and code.
How did Binary Mango perform from a project management standpoint?
They typically deliver before the dates they give us and Jacobo handles project management pretty well. We trust them as a company, so there’s no problem at all for them to talk to the client. They work with us and we have a team of project managers from the agency who actually deliver the project to the client. Binary Mango is also in the front and we’ve had client meetings together with them.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They have a lot of common sense. Binary Mango isn’t the typical team just take our orders. They’re always proposing new ideas and are very business- and marketing-oriented.
Another thing I like about them is that whenever they give us a date, they’ll be on time. Binary Mango is the type of team that delivers on its promises. They’re very punctual with their deadlines.
Are there any areas they could improve?
It’s difficult to negotiate deadlines with them sometimes. I think that plays in their favor, but as the client, it’s sometimes difficult for me to agree on one date. They’re not flexible in this sense. If I tell them that I want something delivered in one or two weeks, they’ll tell me it’s not possible and that it’ll be three weeks. We’ve had some hard times trying to negotiate with them, but that plays in their favor because they’re always on time when they tell us a date. Agencies like ours need things to be rushed and fast sometimes, but we always end up working with them because they deliver.
Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?
Clients should let them think; they’re good at that. Binary Mango is not the type of company that needs to be told exactly what to do in terms of colors, UX, and so on. If they have a brief with the objective, they’ll propose what the client needs.

Introduce your business and what you do there?
I’m the owner of a retail investor startup.
What challenge were you trying to address with Binary Mango?
We needed their team to develop our mobile application.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We've kicked off the engagement with a discovery phase, wherein we've shared our vision, template examples, and documentation for Binary Mango's reference. They've then proceeded with the development phase and implemented our design and functionality requirements into the mobile app.
Binary Mango has developed our iOS- and Android-friendly mobile app using Flutter. Our platform aims to provide simpler and more accessible investment opportunities for investors who want to save time and effort. Binary Mango's team has incorporated a feature that allows investors to perform cash flow calculations and save their findings to a watch list. Additionally, they've included a contact page with our details and an elaborate explanation of how to use the calculation page.
What is the team composition?
I work with Jacobo (CEO) and a project manager.
How did you come to work with Binary Mango?
I found Binary Mango's profile on Clutch — out of the companies we considered, they were one of the few that offered Flutter as a service. We were also convinced to hire them because they did similar projects in the past and offered a reasonable price point.
How much have you invested with them?
We've spent €5,000 (approximately $6,000 USD) so far.
What is the status of this engagement?
We began working together in June 2021, and our partnership is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Although the project hasn't been completed yet, we've already received positive responses about the app's performance. We're hopeful that we can meet our business goals given the early feedback we've received online.
How did Binary Mango perform from a project management standpoint?
We mainly communicate via email and WhatsApp and conduct weekly meetings on Google Meet. Binary Mango has impressive communication skills, and they're always patient and professional when it comes to addressing our feedback and change requests.
What did you find most impressive about them?
We're most impressed with their team's attentiveness — we can rely on them to respond quickly to our needs and answer our questions with accuracy.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I can't point out anything that needs improvement at this point.
Binary Mango delivers a great and functional product, staying within the client’s budget and aiming to be entirely on point with the project. They’re always available to answer any questions that arise through good communication. The client feels that their project is getting taken care of.
