Priovanti provides superior web development to small to medium sized companies needing custom web and phone apps. I am the managing director.

We had more work than we could handle in house. We needed to find an exceptional business to partner with and expand our software team.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Bigscal Technologies has helped us expand our ever growing team. They provide high quality work and are happy to be flexible and do things the way we require.

Bigscal has helped with phone apps, web apps and backend servers. We have required javascript development and they have provided excellent developers ready to face the task.

We've worked with many developers in the company. Their english is excellent and they work hard to understand what we require for each task as they come.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We are happy with their high-quality work and look forward to continuing to work with them in the future as we continue to expand our team.

We have a daily stand-up meeting and keep in contact in trello and slack. They are very flexible and can adapt to our needs.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They work hard, communicate well and get results.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

No complaints so far, no developer is perfect but their team is exceptional.

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the owner of an app-based company that provides loyalty rewards for craft beer fans at craft beer companies in Colorado. Customers can download the free app or if they want extra features, they can buy a subscription. The companies that are on board with us have a backend dashboard on our website, where they can log in and see their analytics.

What challenge were you trying to address with Bigscal Technologies Pvt Ltd.?

We needed someone to design our website and develop our app.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Bigscal was heavily involved in the design and development of our platforms. They originally built the website from pure coding, but eventually moved it to WordPress. It was a little bit more user-friendly for me to manage without having to call them for things I wanted to change.

I told them what I wanted and they helped piece it together. They implemented an abundance of features for customers into the app including a redeemable loyalty reward system, a tracking system, a map, a review section, and an events tracker.

I also had them build a feature where companies can add locations of where they sell their products. That way, people can easily find them within our app that links to Google Maps. Additionally, they also built a gift card feature where people can basically send a free beer, and the receiver will have the option to redeem the gift card at any location.

What is the team composition?

I had specific developers who managed each task, but my main points of contact were Ketan (Managing Director) and Pavan (iOS Developer). I spoke to Ketan whenever I had issues or if something needed to get done.

How did you come to work with Bigscal Technologies Pvt Ltd.?

I found Bigscal on Upwork. They replied to one of my job posts, which I didn’t notice for over a month or two later. I looked back and after talking to them, I found that they were some of the only developers who didn’t seem pushy. They completely understood what I was looking for and when they didn’t, they asked questions and took the time to understand them. It was nice because a lot of the other ones were trying to take my idea and tell me what to do with it.

How much have you invested with them?

We easily spent about $100,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from April 2018–February 2020. We had most of the main features built when we went live, but since the pandemic happened my business struggled financially. However, Bigscal was incredible in helping me update things that needed updating — they kept me going and helped me out, which was a huge relief.

I’m actually going to start having more work for them very soon.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We extended the original time frame, but they mostly stayed on task as long as I didn’t keep adding more features. The platform was so in-depth as far as everything that goes into the backend. There were times when they were able to think of situations and scenarios that customers might run into, that I didn’t even think about. Bigscal had it all covered and brought it to my attention — they’ve just been awesome.

How did Bigscal Technologies Pvt Ltd. perform from a project management standpoint?

We used Skype a lot for day-to-day communications. Whenever we have issues, I contact Ketan and Pavan and they’d delegate what I needed to the other team members. In addition, we used Twilio to organize the project. I put up what I needed done such as updates, so Bigscal was able to go through it and gave me a time frame for each task.

We tried to keep the process to at least 1–3 tasks so we don’t overload the team.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their communication was very impressive, especially since there’s a great distance between Colorado and India. The quality of their work was also phenomenal, and there was only one time where I had an issue with one of the developers from their team. I brought it to their attention and they immediately handled it — they put somebody who had a little bit more strength in what I was looking for in the communication.
 
Are there any areas they could improve?

Nothing comes to mind. They’ve fulfilled the needs that I addressed.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I would advise them to have patience. Building an app is not easy, it’s so much more in-depth. It takes a whole lot of work, but Bigscal is going to bring things to their attention that you probably would’ve never thought of.

I was the founder of an early stage startup. We built software for B2C and B2B services related to grocery and retail shopping.

I found them on Upwork and selected them based on their breadth of skills, company size, reviews, and price point.

Full stack development of Ruby on Rails web platform including mobile apps for iOS and Android. We contracted hourly, not as a full project, so the deliverables were continual completion of software features.
