Web Development & Design for Real Estate Firm
"Big Rattle coded everything on our platform from the ground up. They didn’t do a shortcut job."
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
Our company is a joint venture in the hospitality and real estate business. I’m the assistant general manager of the company, in charge of marketing.
What challenge were you trying to address with Big Rattle Technologies?
We were trying to create an integrated online member portal for our private club. It needed to be user-friendly and have a seamless onboarding process.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We’d been a paper-based company and hadn’t really adapted to the digital world. Big Rattle created digital versions of our processes, which made our users’ experience much easier and more seamless. The portal was built on Drupal and Laravel PHP.
They also played a critical role in providing suggestions to problems we hadn’t even thought of, with the aim of making our business processes simpler. Members can log onto the portal, view their membership details, apply for memberships, and so on.
Big Rattle also created a landing page for us, and they were working on an iOS and Android app, but that’s currently on hold because we’ve changed our strategy.
What is the team composition?
I worked with Ashoke (Co-Founder), Girish (Co-Founder & Director), and five other team members.
How did you come to work with Big Rattle Technologies?
We had interviews with multiple other companies, but none of them instilled the same confidence in us that Big Rattle did. We were fairly new to the digital scene and to what we could and couldn’t achieve online. The other candidates weren’t vocal enough in giving us recommendations, and Big Rattle walked us through what we should and shouldn’t do. With the other companies, we had to tell them exactly what we wanted, but, if there was something incorrect about our expectations, none of those organizations would have gone the extra mile to tell us. Big Rattle’s proactiveness is something that no other company had. They’d also done products similar to what we wanted, and they gave us sound advice on what to do.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve invested a fair amount, and we’re satisfied with the value we’ve gotten in return.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with Big Rattle in April or May 2019, and I don’t think that the relationship will end anytime soon. The platform is partially live, and we’ll continue to need Big Rattle’s input and assistance once it goes fully live.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The success of our project is based on the number of sales we can compute and how easily members can access our portal, fill out application forms, and communicate. Based on that, I’d say that the project is a complete success.
Bringing Big Rattle onto this project has been hugely beneficial. We obviously didn’t anticipate the pandemic, and one can imagine how difficult it would’ve been for us to continue doing everything on paper and not have an online presence whatsoever. Right now, we have a website and an online portal. Big Rattle Technologies has made it seamless for our members to apply to our club, which is a very coveted one in the country.
How did Big Rattle Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
We were the reason behind most of the missed deadlines. There were occasions when we didn’t deliver content to them on time, which cascaded into every other aspect. They only work from Monday to Friday, and there were cases when we needed something done during the weekend. Things could be faster if they had a larger company, but they did a good job by and large.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Big Rattle is one of the best companies out there in terms of their handle on the latest technologies. A lot of developers these days will tell us that they’ll build a website from the ground up when they’re actually just using WordPress templates. Big Rattle coded everything on our platform from the ground up. They didn’t do a shortcut job. The sort of work they do is technical.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Emergencies are going to come up, and we’d like to see Big Rattle handle those faster than they do right now. It could be that they don’t have a large enough team, or that we gave them last-minute tasks. It’s not fair for an organization like ours to expect a digital agency to be available at all hours. Large companies want work done when they want it, but we should also give vendors enough lead time.
Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?
As long as the client knows what they want and is clear on what direction to take, Big Rattle will be the perfect partner to work with. They’re professionals, but it’ll be difficult for them to deliver a product if the client doesn’t know what they want.

Please describe your company and your position there.
WayBeyond Media is determined to improve the health of women and children through medical academy approved healthcare education and information. I was working there as a digital marketing manager.
For what projects/services did your company hire Big Rattle Technologies, and what were your goals?
Our main objective was to build a website and app for women's health issues with solutions. A platform that will answer all women's health-related queries in the form of videos.
How did you select Big Rattle Technologies and what were the deciding factors?
We had a shortlist of 2 companies one of which was Big Rattle Technologies. The deciding factors were:
- Creative designs (they also helped us with our Logo design and tag line. )
- Skilled team
- Follow-ups
- Gave a better outlook to our web designs
- UX Designs
- Timelines
- Cost (cost play a bigger role but when you get quality it beats everything)
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
Scope of work:
- Website outlook
- Applications Designs
- Pop-ups, micro-websites
- Zoho survey to collect data
Project Steps: Collecting information from us, based on needs and what was not needed. There were many features and we used WordPress but the BRT team did all the coding. Our website contains videos so BRT recommended using Vimeo as linking this with the website, the quality is much better than YouTube.
Key Deliverables as we wanted doctors to be part of the health program we decided and BRT helped in implementing how doctors can be of critical importance for the App and Web.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
There were in total 5 people Girish - co-founder, Ashok- co-founder, Raju, and his colleague. There was a designer for layouts and one who made the Narikaa logo.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
I think they were the best of the best people to work with. We started the project in late June-July. Due to some conference, our launch date preponed, and really the website with features best in the market was given to us by BRT in one month was the best we could pull in such a less time.
If I'm following up with them on new additions or changes they were always available on call. If not Girish, I was connected with Ashok. I had the best experience working with them. www.narikaa.com, you can check the outcome yourself. Sometimes when you see someone's work that makes a difference from words from the third party. They really did a great job.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
There's management style wasn't like passing the parcel. It was mostly talking getting to know problems and solving right there and then. Guiding on each and every step. There were webinars to make me understand how to use the platform backend to add content. Timelines given by us were very thin, due to our business as working with doctors are a little different. Innovation attracts them and BRT was there to implement them.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
People in BRT soon came to become part of our small company. They were like a family. They understood our needs as at times we have an idea but understanding what the customer wants is difficult. They not only understood but brought the best out of Our ideas. One thing which is pretty Unique about BRT is "Dedication to evolve"
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
They should lower their costs a little. Overall they are experts.

Redesign and Development of Website for Nature Foundation
"Big Rattle Technologies provides really strong, user-focused work."

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the founder of Sanctuary Nature Foundation. We’re a climate-focused non-profit organization that runs a wildlife magazine as well.
What challenge were you trying to address with Big Rattle Technologies?
We were looking to strengthen online presence, and we needed a partner to help us design and develop a new website for our organization.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Big Rattle Technologies developed the backend and frontend of the website — everything from architecture to the design and user interface was done from scratch.
They've helped us integrate our social media pages on Facebook and Twitter with our website, creating a better web presence. The team also consults on digital strategy.
What is the team composition?
We worked directly with three or four people, though there was a larger team supporting the project. Our main points of contact were Ashoke (Co-Founder & Director, Big Rattle Technologies) and Girish (Co-Founder & Director, Big Rattle Technologies).
How did you come to work with Big Rattle Technologies?
Ashoke and I began talking about our organization soon after we met, and he was excited by what we were doing, which inspired the start of our business relationship.
What is the status of this engagement?
We began working together in September 2019, and the engagement is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Though the website is still in the testing period and hasn’t been officially launched, we’ve received great feedback from people who have used it so far. Technical professionals, businesspeople, and children alike are all impressed by Big Rattle Technologies’ work.
How did Big Rattle Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
The team has managed the project well. Our experience with them has been less bureaucratic than with past vendors, which has allowed us to spend more time focusing on the project itself.
To communicate and track progress, we use email, Zoom, and spreadsheets.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Our experience with Big Rattle Technologies has been the opposite of our previous engagements. The team is patient, always willing to answer any of our questions.
At times, they’re almost more eager than we are to solve problems that arise within the project. While they provide strategic input, they never intrude.
The team has also repeatedly suggested ways to help us stay in budget, such as continued use of certain software or techniques rather than purchasing new ones, which we appreciate greatly.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Big Rattle Technologies provides really strong, user-focused work. They approach a project from the perspective of users and how to best reach them rather than from a technical perspective.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I am the founder of two web apps, Equitotal and Zero Admin. They are both apps that help professionals run the administrative side of their businesses. Equitotal focuses on equine professionals, and Zero Admin is more open ended, but is currently focused on chimney sweeps.
What challenge were you trying to address with Big Rattle Technologies?
We started development three years ago with a company based in the UK, and later realized that what we had built wasn’t fit for purpose. We had to find a new development company to redo certain aspects of the product.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We started out with a relatively small scope of work, but it expanded significantly throughout the project as we learned about the extent of what was possible. We created two mobile-friendly web apps, and they focused primarily on building out databases on the backend. We had a separate developer working on our frontend, and Big Rattle has worked closely with them to integrate payment providers and create a cohesive project. In another month or so, Big Rattle will be taking over development on the frontend as well.
What is the team composition?
There are about five developers working on the project, and I’m primarily in contact with two other project managers/directors. The development team has been in contact with the developer working on our frontend.
How did you come to work with Big Rattle?
I’ve done a lot of business in India in the past, and a trusted colleague I’d worked with recommended Big Rattle. We didn’t interview any other companies.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent just under $200,000 so far.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together over a year ago, and we’ve been in the process of launching the apps over the last 2 months. Our relationship is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’re a small company, so working with Big Rattle has allowed us to move forward. We couldn’t be doing this without them. Our old product had a very small number of users, and it’s taken us a year to develop this new product that supports what we were initially looking to create. As I mentioned we’re now in the process of launching the app, and the process has been going brilliantly. The response has been phenomenal so far, especially among users that were on our original product. Inevitably there have been a few minor bugs that have come up during the launch, and they’ve been great about fixing them in a timely manner.
How did Big Rattle perform from a project management standpoint?
They’re very effective and very patient. We’re looking to do a lot more work with them, some of which was started by our former frontend developer. These additional tasks are at various stages of development, and they’ve been very flexible in determining an updated scope that incorporates these tasks. We have Skype calls twice a week to discuss progress and address any issues, which has been a fantastic set up for this project so far.
What did you find most impressive about them?
We haven’t had much experience with other development companies, but when I compare them to the UK-based developer we were working with, they have been much better and much more accommodating. They’re happy to make changes and/or additions even if they’re not already properly scoped out from the beginning. Most importantly though, they have a positive attitude and are great to work with.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I don’t think I have enough experience with other companies to comment on that. As far as I’m concerned, everything has gone very well. I’ve wanted the project to move more quickly at points, but delays have largely been on our end.

I am a business analyst and team lead for Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.

We hired them to develop Kaypay, our web platform for P2P payments.
What were your goals for this project?
Our goals were to allow customers (including non-banking customers) to register for and use the platform for sending and receiving money from any bank to any bank in a seamless manner.
How did you select this vendor?
We conducted a detailed assessment including an office visit. We also got references from their earlier clients and held a comparison with other shortlisted vendors on their development skill set, designing skills, and project execution.
Describe the project in detail.
The project started with drafting the business requirement and giving it to them as a basis. They came up with the technical architecture of the platform and completed both the backend and frontend. Next, the designing of the webpages were undertaken jointly with the bank team. Once done, the development of the work started and the usual cycles of UAT, bug fixing, etc was completed. The project ended with the deployment of the platform.
What was the team composition?
They had four people including developers, a team lead, and the founders.

What did you find most impressive about this company?
The attitude of the team of making the client first and the quality of the development. They also had great project execution and technical soundness.
What tips or recommendations do you have?

Please describe your company and your position there.
I’m the head of digital experience at Hansa Cequity.
For what projects/services did your company hire Big Rattle Technologies?
Identifying and engaging customers is key to the long-term survival of traditional brick and mortar retail. Our client—a 90-year-old retail icon—was looking for ways to engage with the young and connected fashion shoppers. The opportunity was to build a mobile app that could identify, engage, and recommend products to customers who were in store. By connecting beacons, CRM [customer relationship management], analytics, content, and personalization, we believed we could drive higher levels of engagement for the client.
What were your goals for this project?
The app was intended to drive engagement with customers who had previously shopped with the brand. Our goal was to increase the share of wallet of people who were shopping in the offline and online stores.
How did you select this vendor?
We’ve had an excellent working relationship with Big Rattle, having worked with many important projects over the years. They decided to dedicate a small, Agile team to help us execute this project.
Describe the project in detail.
The idea of the app came from the need to take the existing customer loyalty program for the brand to the next level. We brainstormed around the possibilities of using data, analytics, content, and custom offers to build a personalization-based mobile app. We worked closely with the Big Rattle team to evolve the app from the concepts we had agreed on with the client.
It was a team effort to plan out the wireframes, the functionality, features, and the possibilities of the iOS and Android platforms, which in the end, brought together customer strategy, design, UI/UX [user interface/user experience], analytics, and data management. Big Rattle was responsible for the entire tech side of the project, from developing the app for iOS and Android to managing approvals, the database, hosting, and other aspects of the development and management of the app.
What was the team composition?
The project team included mobile app strategists, iOS and Android developers, database specialists, testers, and quality assurance experts. We started with a very small team but as the development progressed, the size of the team grew and everything became fluid in order to meet project needs.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The final app was delivered on time despite the many changes that the end client requested. Big Rattle did not flinch at the additional feature requests and UI tweaks, and as always, we had an excellent experience working with them. The client accomplished their goal of rolling out the app on time, to the satisfaction for all concerned.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
The team dynamics were truly incredible. As with any complex development project, there were moments of doubt and friction but these were resolved quickly and the project moved on smoothly. Messaging apps, email, and face-to-face meetings were the key tools that helped us execute the project successfully.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
The quality of their people and their commitment to doing a good job are very impressive. Big Rattle has a wonderful team that knows the business and is sincere enough to make commitments and deliver the projects that they take on.
Are there any areas for improvement?
We have a long and happy working relationship with them. Any issues that could’ve happened have been managed in the past, so there’s nothing specific that could be improved regarding this project.

We hired them to develop our Ecommerce website on Magento 2.0. We had a development firm earlier who had made a mess of the project and were about halfway through. Big Rattle had to come in and take over the project and ensure delivery.
How did you select Big Rattle Technologies and what were the deciding factors?
We looked at Big Rattle's history and capabilities. We had calls with the owner and a project manager and asked specific questions on their capabilities and experience, specifically with regards to Magento.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
The scope of the work required complete M2 setup including migration of content, customers, orders; implementation of theme; implementation of payment gateway; testing of website; setup of backup systems
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
About 5-7 people may have worked but we dealt primarily with the project manager and the founder of the company
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
Very high quality work. The team understood what the challenges were and they were quite competent in solving them. They were also proactive in identifying issues and flagging them early.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
The project management style was proactive and effective. We didn't use any unnecessarily complicated tools - a simple bug/feature tracker on Jira and communication over email/whatsapp.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Their comprehensive understanding of all elements of web development - the platform, design, functionality - as well as the ability to think from the user's point of view. Not many companies are able to showcase this.
Are there any areas for improvement?
No
Delivering both technical execution and product development ideas, Big Rattle Technologies has become a valuable business partner. Where other vendors refrain from offering product advice stemming from their expertise, Big Rattle is highly proactive in offering suggestions.
