What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The biggest impact it has had on my small business is the ability for me as a business to appear larger than I am. It is really myself and a few freelancers and contractors that I work with, but the developers I have worked with at Belitsoft have always been very good at directly working with the client. I have been able to step out of the loop sometimes when there has been client support that has needed to be done. I am comfortable putting the developers from Belitsoft directly in contact with the client because they are also very thoughtful and mature in the way that they interact with clients as well.
Our projects have come together really well. The first developer we worked with was willing to go above and beyond in learning new skills for us. He would go off and do some training himself, looking through WordPress forums expanding his own knowledge of the software as well. Our relationship grew over time and we were able to take him on for additional hours as our business grew.
How did Belitsoft perform from a project management standpoint?
Belitsoft’s project management has worked perfectly for the engagement we have. It is quite rare that I would have to get in touch with the project manager because of a problem. There would be occasional communication issues, but overall they do a good job.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I find it reassuring to work through Belitsoft because I know that whatever happens with the individual developers, they have always been very good at finding replacement developers that meet our needs and also good at scaling them up. There is that project management in place locally which takes things off our shoulders.
There has always been good planning and help from the managers at Belitsoft. It is good to have those management structures in place for the developers we work with. Whenever there has been a problem, they have been very quick to get involved and sort it out for us.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I think they could be a little more hands-on, and it is probably because I don’t get in touch with them as we are usually very happy customers. Project managers checking in month to month would be appreciated. They have always been very responsive to any issues that have arisen.
Another small issue was around estimating the time a project is going to take, which is always a really difficult thing to do. There have been cases where Behlisoft has gotten that wrong and it ends up being costly. I went to the project manager and let them know we need to communicate better and they adjusted accordingly.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Make sure you find the right developer for you. Not just in terms of the skills, but more in terms of the working relationship. I have always worked really closely with the developers we have had from Belitsoft which has always worked out really well. Initially, it can be a bit difficult getting to know someone when your only contact is through your daily text chat on Skype.
