The LADbible app launch
Video of the year - Prolific North Awards 2016
Our video campaign for the Ladbible saw us shaping content for a brand that is known as a hub for content, none of which was their own.
They came to us asking to help them find their own voice online. The target audience was 16-25 year olds who use their social media platforms.
As they wanted to make a statement, we decided to make something ‘out of this world’ which lead to sending their app into space.
We decided to use a face of Ladbible, Johno, to go on the journey and guide the viewers for the first time.
The pre-production of this project took precedent as we had to make sure everything was ready for our one shot one take chance to get it right. We used a Go Pro to put on the balloon and used GPS to follow the flight path.
We use the Ladbibe channels, Vine, Instagram and Facebook to release the video, drip feeding clips to create a buzz for the app and added a call to action at the end of the video to download the app.
This content received over one million views in 24 hours and allowed the visitors to engage with the launch of the app instead of just seeing a sponsored advert and ignoring it.
By making engaging content we were able to get a conversation started on their channels and make a buzz around the launch.
The app went to number one in the Itunes app store within 24 hours and helped to shape the future content style for the Ladbible.

Google Retail
Bearded Fellows were commissioned to produce three animations to introduce retailers to the three new interactive resources at their disposal.
Google’s solution was to build three interactive resources, one on attracting local shoppers to stores (Google My Business), a second to improve your mobile sites (Speed Scorecard) and a third using insights to make smarter decisions (Google Analytics).
Whilst Google is one huge brand, each produce or site within its umbrella has its own little characteristics and it was left to us to define this for Google.
We were given an initial style direction by Google but had to wade through a very large asset bank to hone down the look and feel to match with the retail webpages.
Each animation had a different character to try to capture a wide demographic. We produced three 10 second sample animations bring to life the character and their retail environment to give Google a clear look and feel for each animation.
We produced a music track that was designed to feel more like a soundscape with SFX that brought to life the animations in a subtle, but engaging way.
We liaised with the marketing team through our interactive review process and we were able to create three animations that showcased the benefits of Google Retailer for retailers.

Remington Legends Campaign
Our client wanted to mix grooming and sport. We were challenged to mix the two and decided to attempt to incorporate humour. The result was a 6-month campaign across various sports and scenarios synonymous with male grooming and specific sporting moments.
With each of these visuals used to advertise during major sporting events of 2018 (Anthony Joshua vs Parker, Wimbledon, Grand national, Champions League/world cup) we utilised the benefits of using a Remington grooming product with successful sporting moments

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a director at Electric Circus. We're a digital agency that works on end-to-end user journeys.
What challenge were you trying to address with Bearded Fellows?
Tesco commissioned us to do a 25-minute learning experience to capture the hearts and minds of all their staff about the work they're doing to prevent food waste. We decided to include animations and videos, so we needed someone to do that for us.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Bearded Fellows created five animations and five live-action videos, which we used in our presentation. They handled the entire process of production, from shooting to editing. We are currently working with them on another project.
What is the team composition?
We worked with four teammates. Matthew (Co-Founder & Creative Producer) oversaw the animation while Florin (Co-Founder) provided creative direction. For the live-action videos, Joe (Co-Founder) directed the process, and Samson (Video Production Manager) produced, shot, and edited them.
How did you come to work with Bearded Fellows?
Their offices are close to ours, so we knew them. We were really impressed with their attitude, the way they approached projects, and the quality of their past work.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent £23,000–£24,000 (approximately $33,000–$34,000 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in October 2020, and it’s ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The videos are pretty much perfect — the client was impressed by the production value. Bearded Fellows really knows what they're doing. They made my job a lot easier.

I find it very easy to work with them because they’re highly communicative.
What did you find most impressive about them?
We’re really impressed with what they’ve done, which is why we hired them again. It's been a great experience working with Bearded Fellows.

Trust the process. Give them the requirements and meticulously plan what you want them to produce for you, and they can handle it from there.

I’m a senior content marketing executive of a company that provides accountancy training.
What challenge were you trying to address with Bearded Fellows?
We didn’t have any video marketing materials and needed a partner to provide those assets.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They've handled anything and everything that had to do with video marketing for our company. That involved idea creation, scripting, hiring actors, filming, and editing. They also provided us with advice on how to best use videos in our marketing work. It was truly an end-to-end service. They created about 50 videos for us in our engagement so far.

I’ve corresponded with about four people from their team.

Accountancy can be a dry subject, but they have helped us reach our audience more directly. Their work has been the driving force behind us redefining our brand within the marketplace. We now have a stronger social media presence, and our video performance has increased year-over-year.
How did Bearded Fellows perform from a project management standpoint?
They work efficiently and pull their weight when it comes to project management. While I generally manage the project, they speak directly to our stakeholders and others in the business. They’re proactive when it comes to project management and never miss deadlines. We communicate on video calls, on the phone, and over email. They’re also happy to come into our office as needed.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They provide very hands-on service and never let us down. We’re treated like their only client, as they deliver as much value as possible to every project. When we’re unpredictable, they’re always flexible and accommodating with deadlines. They’re a reliable team.

Price could always be lower, but they provide a very strong service.

The video made use of existing branding, combined with a 'colleague story', to demonstrate the performance review process and highlight the benefits. My team led on the scripting, in consultation with our client, while Bearded Fellows managed the illustrations, storyboarding and animation.

I was provided with a clear schedule, with regular check-in points, and provided with opportunity to flex where necessary. Deliverables arrived on time, every time, and were to an incredibly high standard with very little feedback from us.

Project results are TBC, but the quality of the animation was such that we've already engaged Bearded Fellows again on another, larger, project.
