As a fast growing start up, we were looking for a way to quickly establish and scale our PR efforts. We hired BC Public Relations to own our PR and media outreach strategy for national press and local markets.

I compared several proposals, from freelancers to larger agencies. BC Public relations was selected based on their ability to get local business coverage as well as national, as well as just their overall passion and enthusiasm for the company. I felt that they would be a true partner in helping me scale.

We started with a media audit across key competitors, established potential veterinary spokes people, and prioritized quick wins to get things moving. Once we had established a steady stream and process for securing coverage, we developed a larger PR strategy and national pitch plan.

I work directly with Cristy, the founder. She is my single point of contact with the agency.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Yes, over the 3 short months that we've been working with BC PR, we have taken our PR efforts from zero coverage to a steady stream of 5-7 high quality pieces per month. We have a spokesperson strategy & have secured several business features with major news outlets as a result. We had worked with a larger PR firm in the past and were never able to land anything other than press releases that we generated about fundraising.

We had weekly meetings to review progress and check in ad hoc as needed on specific initiatives

Their passion for my business and personal relationship that I was quickly able to establish with Cristy. It feels like I have a partner embedded in my business and not working with an external agency.

Cristy has relationships with media outlets from coast to coast. She has cultivated these over years and always seems to have go to people in every situation.

Writing for medtech is particularly difficult because of regulatory compliance issues and the sophistication of the audience. Time and experience will provide opportunities for growth in the area.

Cristy took time to research my company and my background as a sports broadcaster. We talked through key messaging and how it would fit with current media trends. We identified outlets to target and then she put together media pitches that resulted in several online media placements and podcast appearances.

Traffic to my website increased as a result of working with Brusoe Communications, as did email signups and inquiries about speaking. The media placements helped reinforce the value of my content and approach to business communication.

We had weekly email check-ins per my request, in addition to texts, conversations and emails as needed about media appearances and interviews. Prior to each interview I was sent a document containing information about the interviewer, publication, outlet and key messaging for the conversation. All of our communication was timely and fell into a good cadence.

There was a great deal of effort to find unique ways to pitch my content that I hadn't previously considered. I really appreciated the personal touch and the time spent cultivating relationships that led to media placement.
