The process of renting is better than it was 10-years ago, but only barely. Most rental building websites still feature incomplete and outdated information on suite availability and pricing, and force interested renters through an overly complicated and time consuming (often paper-based) application process.
Similarly, for property managers, ensuring that the latest information is being pushed to the renting public in a clear, digestible format is no small task.
This was all certainly true of The Benvenuto Group, owners and property managers of 18 Brownlow in Toronto.
They asked us to rethink their website from the ground up with an emphasis on converting visitors to suite tour registrants, and suite tour registrants to renters.
With that direction in mind, we provided UX Research, Design, and Development for both their consumer-facing website and property management dashboard.
Moves is a social finance product for gig workers. This means that we’re obsessively focused on two things: Building a world-class financial product for gig workers, and creating a collective to support gig workers through a common social experiences.
The Cirus Foundation is a multi-layered ecosystem designed to accelerate the ownership economy by leveraging the latest advancements in hardware, software and a tokenized economy. Enabling individuals to enter this new era by owning, managing and monetizing their most valuable digital commodity, Data.
August lead the design and development of the Cirus website and token deployment. As their agency partner, we will continue to provide blockchain consulting services, firm up their brand ID, build out their backend infastructure and deploy their mobile app.
Tire Towne is mobile technician startup that provides on-location tire changes and other services to customers on their driveway. They approached us with a simple booking flow and asked August to expand their website to include an ecommerce component.
Building off of their existing wordpress build, we implemented an online store that allowed customers to shop for rim and/or tires, and then schedule a booking to have them placed on their car.
Founded in 2017, The Post Millennial has become one of Canada’s fastest growing news corporations
As the media and content space continues to get more and more crowded, brands are looking for ways to stand out from the crowd. The main way to accomplish this is by creating great content. But providing users with a way friendly way to consume and enjoy that content is just as important.
The Post Millennial (TPM) approached us with a few challenges that they wanted August to address. Since launching in 2017, the publication has grown tremendously and is now consistently reaching 6-million monthly visits and 5.4- million page views.
But like many companies that experience fast growth, things can easily get overlooked or fall through the cracks. We were tasked with updating their overall brand identity and applying that to some of their existing digital assets including their website and newsletter.
We provided UX/UI Research, Web Design, Development and Strategy for this project.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I'm the CEO of a startup tech company building a fintech product.
For what projects/services did your company hire August, and what were your goals?
Prior to launching our product and now on an ongoing basis, we rely on August to support us in developing marketing collateral and maintaining our brand elements for our product. This includes owning the development of our website, as well as creating all design elements our team uses in the product, including illustrations.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We were looking for a team that could seamlessly work alongside our team and move at our speed for a reasonable cost. Today, our team views August as a partner and extension of our capabilities.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
Our relationship with August has evolved into an ongoing retainer. We consistently rely on August for all marketing assets, design elements, illustrations, web development and more.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
Depending on the requirements at the time, we generally work with up to 4 members of the August team, coordinated by Jeff, who leads their operations. Included in that team is a fullstack developer, a web designer and a graphic designer / illustrator.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
August works extremely close with our Marketing and Growth team who primarily focus on metrics of customer acquisition and distribution. August has helped us build a compelling brand that has resonated extremely well with our target audience.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
We primarily rely on Slack and Jira to manage ongoing projects with the August team. They're extremely responsive and sensitive to our timelines, and we always feel prioritized.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Their casual approach and the quality of their work are a unique combination. Simply put, we have fun working with them and we always know that what we'll get is high quality output.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
August is still a small team, so naturally there are times when their resources are spread thin, but it hasn't had a detrimental impact on any of our deliverables to date. I could foresee challenges with their capacity as our requirements grow, but I suspect they would address those by growing their team as needed.
