I’m the founder of a startup called Azania Express. It’s a food delivery service that’s similar to UberEats but with a network of over 700 vendors across South Africa.
What challenge were you trying to address with Arema Technology?
We had three challenges: the first was how to connect hundreds of vendors at a time, the second was how to earn money by connecting them, and the third was how to create a good solution that could take and deliver orders without any headaches.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Arema Technology has developed my solution from scratch, which includes seven applications. This breaks down to a set of Android and iOS apps for the delivery couriers, the vendors, and the customers along with an additional web version for customers.
Because these are seven different applications, the features are varied. Each has custom requirements, which is no easy task to handle. They’ve designed the UI/UX, the backend, and even the AI and data analytics.
Since our launch, they’ve also done a huge level of digital marketing to connect with customers, restaurants, and couriers. They’ve done Facebook and Instagram campaigns as well as YouTube videos. The team has also pursued SMS, email marketing, and Google Ad campaigns.
Finally, they offer 24/7 customer support management and actively test the solution for bugs. If they find anything, they’ll inform me that a bug has occurred and resolve it.
What is the team composition?
They have a team of 34 members, including the project manager and the CEO. I used to connect specifically with the CEO when talking about our finances.
As for the other leads, it depends on the department and task. If we’re working on a campaign, I’ll talk to one team. If I need to make additional modifications post-launch, I’ll talk to another.
How did you come to work with Arema Technology?
A colleague of mine within the industry recommended Arema Technology to me.
How much have you invested with them?
When we first started, I paid them about $70,000 for three months before shifting to $40,000. We’ve since shifted to a monthly fee of $20,000 per month for regular modifications and technical support. That roughly translates to $2 million dollars to date.

We started back in September 2019, and the application launched a year later in 2020. We’re still working with them today
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Launching an app in a year and then connecting with 700 vendors within a month is no easy task. We also have 88 million users between our apps. In terms of profits, I’ve earned approximately $3.5 million to date.
The solution itself is notable because users can come to our web browser and download a widget to their mobile devices. This only takes up about 5–10 KB whereas the average mobile app takes up about 70–80 MB. If there are any bugs, then Arema Technology’s team will resolve them immediately.
How did Arema Technology perform from a project management standpoint?
They’ve been able to deliver the project on time and within our budgets. We mainly communicate through Skype calls and use a project management tool called Inside.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Before launching, I hadn’t looked at any other companies apart from Arema Technology because my colleague referred them to me. Then, when I was starting to get into digital marketing, I connected with several vendors. Some quoted a higher price while others were lower, but none of them spoke with any surety.

I’m the founder and CEO of Seeka, a manufacturing company with over 40,000 employees.
What challenge were you trying to address with Arema Technology?
We needed to manage all our data since we receive over 5,000 orders per day for custom-printed storage closets.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Arema Technology provided a better solution for managing the data from our orders. They developed a mobile application for our corporate clients to input images and videos of the designs they want to print on the closets. They also built an AI solution for monitoring our employees on the manufacturing floor; it has cameras and sensors that can observe the factories, detect packages' weight, and measure the meters we load into trucks, which helps prevent stealing from my factories.
We’re now planning to deliver a solution that allows me to sell single units for my clients. We also want an AI solution for unlocking the closets with face or fingerprint recognition instead of using keys.
The mobile application is available for Android and iOS devices, but a web app version is also available. Our prominent clients overseas use another app for Smart TVs to monitor their orders and designs.

Managing those documents was complicated for my team and me because I used to have 57 people monitoring all of that, client by client, and we have over 5,000 clients. All that has been downsized to two people because I don’t need all that workforce anymore. I can see records, current orders, payments, live production, and how much production has been done.
In terms of the software, we did a lot of testing to avoid bugs post-launch; it came out pretty well, and we haven’t faced any issues.

Their planning is impressive — their team thinks everything first on pen and paper and then creates a PDF document. After that, they develop wireframes and program meetings with us back to back to understand our requirements on a ground level. They also do a lot of hard work in producing helpful ideas.
