Co-founder of a mobile salon service provider. We have 50+ staff working for us, providing at-home beauty services to our customers.
For what projects/services did your company hire Appsocio, and what were your goals?
We wanted to develop an app where our customers can choose their services, pick a time and date and choose their stylist. Once booked the information would go to the stylist who would then at the customer's location at the booked time and date.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
A friend recommended me Appsocio. They had previously made a similar app, they gave me a demo of it which was very satisfactory plus they accommodated me on the pricing model. I also wanted the app to made asap as COVID was hurting my business and I liked their timelines
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
I gave them an initial brief and since they already had experience in the same business, they got back to me with the scope and initial designs. We went over the functionalities and finalized the screens. They started with the development and i saw the first beta android version in 60 days. They were open to suggestions and adjustments. I added a few features later on such as push notifications, stylist rating etc. They were very helpful.
How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
I was in touch with the business development executive and once the deal went through I was assigned a project manager. In coordination with him I also had sessions with the designer and front and back end developers if and when neeeded
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
It was the perfect time for the launch as people weren't still comfortable going to the salon and my app provided them easy access to salon services at home. The app saved my business I had a 100+ downloads the first month of launch and most appointments I had in last few months.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
Coordination was mainly done via zoom meetings and work was shared on emails or through their customer area. They did miss a few deadlines the project was stretched from 6 months to 9 months I wasn't very happy about that but then they explained it was because of the additional features I had added.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
To be quite honest, getting the app made was very easy with them. They had good experience in it and knew what they were doing. They were also very patient with my add-ons and constant to and fro
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
yeah, initially the designed screens they showed me and the app UI had many differences I had to point those out and that caused a bit of disruption but in the end they managed to give me what i wanted. Also, they tend to miss deadlines so you have to work in close coordination with them
