Please describe your company and your position there.
I’m venturing into the world of startups with this mobile phone application that seeks to solve problems faced by community groups when it comes to fundraising and collaboration.
For what projects/services did your company hire Appify, and what were your goals?
Appify were hired to work on the build of my hybrid app and have offered consultation services along side this. The goal was to build a one of its kind mobile phone application to solve the problems parent-teacher associations.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
I spoke to several developers around the world but felt that Kirsty understood my product and vision best as I found her to be very informative and helpful as well as laid back with her pace. There was no pressure.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
I can’t give details on the specific technology used behind the scene where coding goes, but as communication platforms, we use Jira, Figma and Slack primarily. This has meant that project updates are easily shared as well as questions and comments leading into further development.
I have worked on sprints with Appify. We have agreed on individual components of the app development and how these can be gradually built and released in a staged way. We are currently, approximately 50% of the way to completion.
How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
Kirsty has worked closely with me in a capacity similar to project manager. We meet regularly via video call and also communicate over the phone and messaging services. Two developers were also assigned to the design and build of the app with additional staff available to help as needed eg with the website.
I have also been given access to Appify’s business development consultant, Chris, who guided me through some early stage questions and with whom I continue to communicate as and when needed. This additional support has been very valuable for someone new to the world of business like me.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
After 3 months of app development work, I launched my app with one school and the uproar was overwhelming. We achieved 98 downloads in a week with fundraising exceeding £1000. I am looking for forward to building on the app further and also on boarding other schools. Appify have made it possible for me to follow my dreams and vision.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
Kirsty has been amazing throughout. She is always available to answer questions and offer suggestions. I feel I can turn to Kirsty for all round feedback and guidance and that each conversation only leads to better decisions and essentially, improved product.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
I think I’ve covered most of this above but if I was to select one or two points; Their versatility when responding to my requests which shows a lot of competence is impressive. I’d also add their very real human touch, without multiple layers of corporate processes to work through, made the communication much easier and effective.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
I think we all have scope to improve and I’ve always felt I can offer this feedback to Appify as when I’ve wanted to.

UI/UX Design for Mobile App Development Firm
"It genuinely felt like they cared about the application and wanted to find the very best ways of making it a success."

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the Founder and Director of MyBubble Ltd. MyBubble is a tech start-up that provides mobile technologies that brings people together to support each other's mental health.
For what projects/services did your company hire Appify, and what were your goals?
I hired Appify for UI/UX design as well as mobile application development. I had created the concept and sketch designs for the MyBubble application but I knew I needed to bring in expertise to make this a reality.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
I searched online for mobile application developers and shortlisted three that I believed would understand what I was trying to achieve. After speaking with Appify, I knew they were the ones to choose. They understood the concept and most importantly, they were honest about what they were delivering. From research, I knew this would be a Minimum Viable Product that would help me establish product/market fit and test the concept.
Appify were the only developers that I came across that were realistic and passionate about creating an App that was released properly with users in mind at every stage. Rather than promise it would be an overnight hit from my ideas alone and simply develop from my sketches (which would have missed key links and stages for the user experience), they went through every screen and function with their own suggestions for me to consider and queries to create the best possible product.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
The scope of the work included UI/UX design and the development of a cross-platform application for Android and iOS. This was created using Flutter which streamlined the process and made the work more efficient in the time and budget I had. The designs and sketches that I put together incorporate a lot of features and functionality that had to be balanced including user accounts, push notifications, an administrator backend portal, social links, API creation and integration, database backend that correctly validated different tiers and groups of users and much more.
How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
A project manager was assigned to lead the engagement with a team of developers and UI/UX designers focussing on the deliverables. The project manager, in particular, was fantastic. As a start-up, business operations and requirements are very fluid and he was always on hand to explain where were at and how to improve the product offering.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
MyBubble was launched at the end of December 2021. In the last 2 and a half months, the App has been downloaded over 11,000 times internationally and holds a 5-star rating on both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. The most praise has been on the ease of use, user interface and unique concept.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
The project manager was always available via Slack and having all communications in the one channel made everything much more transparent and easier to manage. In terms of timelines, the scope of the work slightly exceeded the estimated time assigned to the project. However, this was mainly due to the uniqueness of the concept requiring some innovation on their part and also slight tweaks or changes that I would suggest. They honoured their quote from the start despite the work requiring more time than initially scoped and were always communicative and transparent with progress.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Their initiative, flexibility and skill for solving problems quickly. The User Interface and design was flawless (and has been incredibly well received by users). What impressed me most was their willingness to try new things that could improve the App further or make functions more efficient for the users. It genuinely felt like they cared about the application and wanted to find the very best ways of making it a success.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
I believe the only area of improvement could be weekly status reports that outline progress in the last 7 days, any delays in the last 7 days and then next steps for the next 7 days. However, I must say that they were always on hand to talk about the App whenever I wanted (sometimes day or night!) so this wasn't much of an issue.

Mobile App Development for NHS Organization
"They've been really responsive to how the project has evolved."
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the lead for chlamydia screening and health promotion at Brighton & Hove Sexual Health & Contraception Service, a National Health Service (NHS) organization.
What challenge were you trying to address with Appify?
We have a free condom scheme that gives young people in our local area access to condoms. Post-COVID-19 restrictions limited young people’s access to clinic appointments to find where they could access condoms or sexual health services.
We wanted to create a digital solution and make the service app-based to bypass the need for clinic appointments and make our service more accessible for young people.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Appify developed a digital solution for our health promotion program, including a mobile app and a backend website. We gave them a brief, and they built the wireframes and designed the UI/UX.
They developed an app that allows users over 16 to download a digital card without seeing a professional. Users under 16 have to see a clinician before accessing the service. Over-16s can watch a video with educational information about using condoms and where to access them. Then, they complete a quiz to test their knowledge, and when they pass that, they can unlock the app and use the services.
The Appify team also helped us modernize our data collection. In the past, users had to do paper data collection, send that to us, and we would input and analyze the information on our side. Now, the user inputs their data on the app. Then, users scan a QR code, and all their data is automatically uploaded to the backend website. We can access the backend to see how many condom packs are given out, by whom, and to whom, giving us control of our data. Each NHS site has a poster with a QR code, and the Appify team added a QR scanner to the app.
The team also included our over 100 collection sites across the city, including pharmacies, school nurses, drop-ins, and general practitioners. Currently, we have a monthly support package with Appify; they’re helping us iron out the bugs or any other issues with the app.
What is the team composition?
We work with Kirsty (Health Tech Lead).
How did you come to work with Appify?
Appify had already made a similar product for a different county, and we were looking to use a similar wireframe and reskin it to match our local branding and needs.
How much have you invested with them?
So far, we’ve spent around £10,000 (approximately $13,100 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in May 2021, and the engagement is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
I’m really pleased with Appify’s work on the app — it’s a brilliant product. We’ve had 1,300 downloads since we did a soft launch in September, and we haven’t promoted it anywhere; users have found it through clinicians and word of mouth. We plan to do a hard launch later this year and actively promote the app.
In terms of savings, the app has reduced clinic time. We’ve had 502 condom collections, and if young people can access condoms, they’re less likely to have unplanned pregnancies and STIs, which reduces clinic time.
Because users over 16 don’t need to have a consultation, and most of our users are over 16, the app has also helped reduce staff training time. Previously, we’d been doing a three-hour training session for up to 20 professionals every three months. Now, we’re primarily working with school nurses and clinic staff to work with teenagers under 16.
Additionally, the app has reduced paper costs, eliminating the need for paper cards, monitoring forms, and postage. There has been a massive reduction in time for data recording, collection, and inputting since we get the data automatically.
Appify has been really responsive regarding app support. They even offered us a lower price on maintenance because I’ve provided a lot of consultancy for them around how to build the app and how it could work for other local authorities.
How did Appify perform from a project management standpoint?
They’re brilliant at project management, and they’ve met all their deadlines. We typically communicate via email or phone calls.
During the first launch, we had a shared Google Doc where we would put issues we noticed, such as bugs, and they could update it when they’d fixed them. This allowed the entire team to know what was going on.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Appify really takes the time to listen to what we need. The background and reason for the app is my area of expertise, and I appreciate that they understand what we need and why and have come up with creative solutions.
For example, we needed a way to prevent teenagers under 16 from accessing the app until they’ve consulted with a clinician. They helped us work around that issue with an unlock system. Appify also made tweaks to the data collection to ask for demographic data. Overall, they’ve been really responsive to how the project has evolved.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, I don’t think there’s anything they need to improve.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
My advice is to have a clear project plan for yourself. I’ve been really clear on exactly what I want and what my expectations are, so Appify has been able to work responsively to that.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the digital delivery manager for a multichannel marketing company. We’re essentially a technology-led marketing agency.
What challenge were you trying to address with Appify?
We needed a partner to help create a game for one of our clients. The initial idea was to build a game for customers to play that would also collect their information, allowing us to retarget them. It started as a simple idea that grew as a result of COVID-19.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Initially, we planned to update a product's design and ship it back to our client. Our client updated requirements during the project. We transformed the project from an off-the-shelf game into a mobile platform. The final product wouldn't be locked to a specific device.
Their team helped us navigate through the shift in our parameters resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. They made the app compatible with all devices.
What is the team composition?
There was only supposed to be 3–4 people working on the project. At one point, the client asked for a change that needed to be implemented quickly. A couple of extra people worked on the project at that time to complete the change by the next morning.
How did you come to work with Appify?
We initially found them through a recommendation and then worked with them on a website redevelopment project. On that occasion, they worked on the design and exceeded our expectations.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent about £35,000 pounds (approximately $47,000 USD) on their services.
What is the status of this engagement?
The project began in October and ended in November 2020.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We haven’t been able to fully measure the success of the project because the game will be live until December 24th. However, we’ve currently received quite a lot of consumer information, which was our initial aim. We’re about 10% ahead of projected targets.
How did Appify perform from a project management standpoint?
They performed excellently from communication and project management standpoints. We communicated through phone and email. It was really easy to deal with them in every way.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They understood straight away that it wasn’t us coming to them with challenges. Their team understood that those challenges were our client’s needs. They were attentive and on board with everything straight away. There was never a hurdle too big for them to jump over.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, they were fantastic.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
We had a large discovery session with our client. It may be helpful for future clients to dig deep and include Appify in the discovery process.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the co-founder of a mobile mental health application that helps people manage their gambling addiction. It’s a self-help app that utilizes cognitive behavior therapy and elements of mindfulness as well. It helps people change the way they think, feel, and behave towards gambling, and following that, hopefully, create positive behavior change in leading people not to gamble anymore. We’re in the App Store and Google Play Store or people can download the app straight from us. We’re also trying to work with organizations that are already in this space and treating people with gambling addiction and give us access to high-risk players. There are three of us involved in the project. We’re also junior doctors working full-time working in health service in the UK as well.
What challenge were you trying to address with Appify?
We needed someone to develop our app.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They developed the app for us in iOS and Android. They built the app on a cross-platform basis. They used React Native. They offered to do the design but we have a friend who had already done a lot of our designs before we actually spoke to Appify. They do our maintenance. We don’t have an in-house technology team. They do a lot of the work for us.
What is the team composition?
We worked with a fairly small team. We worked with around 8-10 people. Every single one of them was outstanding. They’ve all been excellent. Chris (Non-Executive Director) was our main go-to person. We’d always liaise with him who would then liaise with the other developers.
How did you come to work with Appify?
I found them through a web search.
How much have you invested with them?
It was £40,000 (approximately $54,000 USD) initially and then we integrated a payment solution which bumped the cost up to just over £50,000 (approximately $67,000 USD). Now we’re paying them for their ongoing maintenance costs.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in March 2020 and the work is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
When we started the project, we scoped out all the work with them. We had a fixed budget as a startup. We had shown them what we wanted the app to look like and what we expected to be done when the final app is complete but we kept on feeding them bits of graphic design work, all the content that was in the app.
They made a little bit of an underestimation of how much work was involved. Halfway through the journey, they realized there was a lot more work involved than the first scope. They agreed to get the app done with a fixed fee. They took all the charges and extra work and swallowed them. They didn’t charge us any more for the further work that they did. We’re very happy with them. Everyone whom we speak to say they really like the app. There were bugs but they fix them quickly.
How did Appify perform from a project management standpoint?
Chris was always available when we wanted to discuss things or change things. They’re very flexible. Chris led everything for us. We’re really happy working with him. He’s very experienced in this field and gave us a lot of help and understanding of what we should be doing.
In terms of payment, since we’re a startup, they’ve been very flexible with us. They finished all the work but we haven’t paid them the full amount yet. They’re very understanding of our situation and that cash flow is difficult for us because we are a startup. They outsource the development side of things to people in other countries. We’ve talked with people in Poland and India. Chris would tell them what to do but we still got on calls with everybody.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Even if there was any business advice we wanted or anything from their experience on how things should look, how they should work, and what kind of functionality we should go for, they held our hand through the journey. They’re very helpful.
Are there any areas they could improve?
The project took longer than we were hoping at the beginning but it was because of an underestimation of how much work was involved. We kept on feeding them information as well which didn’t help.

UI/UX Design & Mobile App Dev for Marketing Agency
“They’re conservative with their delivery estimates, allowing for time to perfect the product.”
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a digital technology consultant for Inspired Thinking Group (ITG). I handle everything related to mobile apps.
What challenge were you trying to address with Appify?
We do a lot of projects for our clients and needed an external partner to work on some mobile application development.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Appify is helping us with a couple of small UX projects for our clients as well as some larger in-house projects for us. Their team builds mobile applications for iOS and Android natively. They also build web interfaces and implement UX designs. Our clients have to approve the designs before Appify continues.
Their team also works on backend development. They do data capture, which is written text, and image capture, which is shared back into the database. There’s a full cache trail going in and out of the backend of the apps. It’s done in React and interfaced with third-party delivery businesses.
What is the team composition?
There are 12–15 people we interact with, including a backend team, frontend team, web developers, and UI/UX team.
How did you come to work with Appify?
We heard about Appify through a mutual contact. Our team corresponded with other agencies but chose Appify because we wanted to work in Agile, which they offered, and they had a good price point.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve invested between $120,000–$150,000. This includes the projects they’re doing internally as well as the client projects.
What is the status of this engagement?
We began working together in December 2018, and the work is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Our clients have given great feedback, saying they’ve never had this level of visibility before. Without the excellent UX designs that Appify created, we wouldn’t receive such positive feedback. Their team provides support and quickly resolves issues.
How did Appify perform from a project management standpoint?
Communication is very good. They’re conservative with their delivery estimates, allowing for time to perfect the product.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They’re very focused on users. This is the opposite of what we’ve experienced in the past. Appify communicates very efficiently in non-technical terms that everyone can easily understand.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They’re a bit slow quoting new projects, but that’s because they want to get it right.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Let them do the legwork. Don’t try to take over; they’re the experts.
Appify has successfully delivered an easy-to-navigate app, and the client has been very impressed by their work, responsiveness, and real-time feedback. They have communicated biweekly and daily, ensuring an effective workflow. Their honesty and transparency have been hallmarks of their work.
