Glass House Guide is a brand new company. Its founders had a simple concept: since many homes in the US now have a smart speaker device, why not use those smart speakers as one more marketing tool when the home is for sale. In the holiday season of 2019, Amazon Alexa smart speakers were the leading technology product sold. With devices starting at only $22, suddenly a powerful voice assistant was available to the majority of consumers. Glass House Guide leveraged APG Emerging Tech’s extensive know-how in User Experience Design, Voice Assistant Design and Development, and Go-to Market Strategy to build Glass House Guide’s services from the ground up.
Our cross-functional design, development and strategy team worked diligently with Glass House Guide’s founders to understand their vision and mission for this new, cutting edge service. The interaction design for voice assistant skills is much different than the interaction design most agencies and consultancies apply towards visual design. We imagined nearly every possible interaction that a prospective buyer might have with a voice assistant skill: not only the categories of information sought, but the multitudinous ways in which the question may be asked or command delivered by the prospective buyer. By visually mapping out the possibilities, validating verbiage and phrases in both proper and colloquial manners, and rapidly prototyping the experience, we were able to verify the buyer’s experience rapidly and build the right solution the first time.
Glass House Guide has gone to market with rave reviews. Realtors are in love with its novelty, ease of setup, and useful nature to their marketing campaigns. The service provides real-time analytics about who is asking questions and what they are asking, allowing Realtors to modify their marketing approach to best fit the persona of buyer the listing has attracted. APG’s expertise in voice technologies accelerated Glass House Guide’s time to market and trajectory towards success.
The National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States, also known as the 9/11 Commission, mandated to provide recommendations designed to guard against future attacks. One of the mandates from the 9/11 Commission was to improve student and exchange visitor policies and technologies, given some of the 9/11 hijackers had entered the country with student visas. One of our consultants was an integral part of facilitating months of workshops with key DHS and DoS stakeholders to reimagine this process.
The breadth of scope for the student and exchange visitor program (SEVP) is massive. Aside from large teams within the Federal government supporting this program, stakeholders include every technical college, college and university in the country. Our approach to this engagement was to leverage our facilitation skills to conduct week over week rapid prototyping workshops. In each workshop, we would convene the correct stakeholders based upon the topic at hand, and as ideas were generated, capture them in our visualization software live on a large screen. This worked for both processes and system user interfaces. As concepts were rapidly prototyped, stakeholder could provide immediate feedback.
This approach proved so effective that our primary stakeholder became an evangelist for this process throughout DHS and at conferences. Prior to our involvement, the stakeholders had become frustrated with their lack of progress. With our involvement, the stakeholders got new energy and began to make progress at a pace they had never before experienced. The prototypes we produced were used to prepare training and adoption materials while the actual system was still being coded; a further accelerator for the program.
Southern Landscape Group is a well-known landscape design and construction company based in Virginia. The company has experienced a fast pace of growth, with dozens of employees and fields of equipment ready to build commercial and residential projects. With a desire to find ways to streamline operations and increase visibility into trends through analytics, Southern engaged APG to review its sales pipeline process and make recommendations for improvements.
We met with the leadership team of Southern to understand its current state processes, future state objectives, and the persona of the sales organization team members. A quick win for this team was a system to capture sales call details with real-time dashboards to illustrate trends. APG created a rapid mobile-first prototype of a possible sales call capture system. The sales team is constantly on the go, so maximizing user experience for mobile was key. The prototype was placed in the hands of the sales team where they could click through, make suggestions and adjustments, all before the real system went live. The team enjoyed this approach and appreciate how fast it all came together.
Not every system or process requires a massive investment of time or cost. Sometimes you just need to bring a company like APG to the table and utilize their breadth and years of experience! For Southern, we created a sales call solution that included the entry forms and a real-time data dashboard for a low cost in a short amount of time. The impact has been substantial: more data is being captured, the quality of sales manager meetings has improved thanks to reporting, and follow-through for clients has gone from an already great experience to an industry-leading fantastic experience.
Arthur M. Blank Sports and Entertainment (AMBSE) is one of the most exciting and influential organizations in the Atlanta metropolitan area. While the name may not ring a bell, their holdings will: AMBSE is comprised of the Atlanta Falcons, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, PGA Tour Superstore, Mountain Sky Guest Ranch, The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, AMB West, AMB Group and Atlanta United FC. Mercedes-Benz stadium has been an incredible addition to the city. The Falcons are busy as ever, and Atlanta United FC is growing in popularity with every passing season. As one can imagine, this sort of rapid and steady growth can stretch an organization to its limits! AMBSE, ever savvy in defense against risks and tackling issues, knew it was time to modernize its current process to a more automated, formal process of an IT PMO. For assistance, AMBSE tapped APG Emerging Tech to advise, design and implement its next-generation IT PMO.
Our consultant convened multiple fact-finding workshops and meetings with key AMBSE stakeholders at all levels, including AMBSE executive leadership, legal, development and analysis to understand their current way of working, pain points, motivators, and desired future-state. We also assessed AMBSE’s existing implementation of ServiceNow, which would become a PPM facilitator of IT PMO governance in the future-state. These discovery exercises quickly transitioned into an implementation plan set forth to align current processes with oversight functions and strategize an execution of the plan. Not only did APG advise on what should be done to achieve the ideal future-state of PMO operations, but we executed upon it in the form of ServiceNow configuration, design customized training portfolios for each role and function of standards, procedures and systems for all levels in the organization, and additional adoption strategies.
APG Emerging Tech and AMBSE continue to work together on driving adoption of the new IT PMO governance, processes and systems. Feedback on our approach and implementation has been extremely positive! As one can imagine, this sort of change is not as simple as saying ‘go do this new thing’: there are many human experience, adoption and system considerations to take into consideration. We look forward to continuing to serve this Atlanta institution!
Strategic partners are the lifeblood of many small businesses. APG Emerging Tech is no exception! The team at 7Factor Software are folks we’ve known for many years and trust implicitly. They came to us in Summer 2020 - in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic - with a problem. A client of theirs had a 30,000 person workforce that needed to be consistently screened for symptoms of COVID-19 before entering their workplace. They wanted input into the design and user experience for a system to help facilitate consistent screening. We were honored to help!
We met with the engineering team of 7Factor Software and its client to understand their requirements and definition of ‘thorough screening’. Knowing time was of the essence, we conducted rapid prototyping to quickly arrive at workflow and user interface designs compatible with the requirements. The prototypes were socialized with a myriad of stakeholders to achieve consensus and alignment on the way forward.
We also engaged with the engineering team in the role of Product Management, to ensure a holistic lens to the new WellEntry product was given: user experience, product backlog grooming, marketing, communications, implementation, training and support. It takes a lot to successfully launch a new product and with the COVID-19 situation not improving, there was no time for mistakes!
WellEntry is now in production and available for use by practically any organization that has workers or students who must be on-site to perform their duties. We have implemented WellEntry for a national home healthcare provider, a major food manufacturer, and several other companies - large and small. More importantly, we are making a dent in the COVID-19 situation. Though we are not doctors or scientists, we know technology can serve people by facilitating healthy routines and reporting on critical data for trend analysis.
APG Emerging Tech + Just Cause Marketing had the privilege of being the Major Marketing Sponsor for the Lake Oconee Showcase of Homes. This annual event raises money for Greene County Habitat for Humanity.
In previous years, the event raised enough money to build a new home for a deserving family in the area. In 2020 we helped the Showcase of Homes reach a whole new audience and raise enough money to build three new homes.
Innovation + Action - that's Just Cause Marketing!

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am a developer at HandyTrac Systems. We provide key control access systems to multi-family groups.
For what projects/services did your company hire Aligned Partner Group?
Our website was initially designed over 15 years ago and has suffered from both a stagnated design and feature creep that was forced to fit that outdated design. Aligned was hired to rework the design.
What were your goals for this project?
We wanted to both rewrite its code base and redesign the look and feel to provide greater utility and access to information for our customers. We didn’t want to make it more difficult to use or to create too much of a learning curve for our customers.
How did you select this vendor?
Our team was referred to Aligned Partner Group through one of their partner developer firms. Between their recommendation and the reasonable pricing, we chose to move forward.
Describe the project in detail.
We started the project by discussing internal and external UX. We wanted to assess how users access the site, the information they're looking for, and core personality traits that could influence how they interact and feel about the site and possible changes. From there, Aligned Partner Group built out initial wireframes, then reviewed them and iterated upon them. This cycle continued at a rapid pace until we had a final design.
What was the team composition?
We worked with a singular point of contact, which allowed us to quickly discuss changes we would like to see made by their team.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
We used Axure, a prototyping tool, to show a clickable model of the redesign to both internal and external users. We received extremely positive feedback across the board. The site now feels like it has a modern design, which is necessary for a tech company.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
They worked extremely quickly. Our discussions were met with near immediate updates, and they responded promptly to feedback.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
I was impressed by how quickly they produced a modern, clean design based on our input. The speed of response to our comments on the iterations was also impressive.
Are there any areas for improvement?
No, we were very pleased.
