Western Union
In partnership with AVCommunications, we built a simple and effective web app for managing Brand Ambassadors for one of the largest financial institutions in the world.

Rupi Kaur
In anticipation of the announcement of her third book, Home Body, along with a partnership with Kotn, Rupi Kaur approached us for a new website because her previous one had been designed before she was propelled to international acclaim.
With an Instagram following of 4 million and a fanbase far beyond that, she needed not only a site that matched her poetry, aesthetic and vision, but one that pushed sales of her books and products.

NEXT Plumbing & Hydronics
Toronto’s most reliable plumbing wholesaler approached us to design and develop a new website that was on brand and on par with its reputation.
NEXT is built on a decentralized model by design – fully stocked warehouses (not branches) with complete inventory of all the products you need, close to your job sites.

Drake General Store
The Drake General Store, a Toronto institution, reached out to us needing help migrating their website (previously on Magento) to a more robust and reliable eCommerce platform, Shopify.
We were excited to collaborate with their in-house designers to develop a website that was easy to navigate for their visitors, and seamless to manage on the back-end, using Shopify as a platform to connect all their retail stores with their eCommerce activities.

Procally - Local Professional Directory App
Procally is a crowdsourcing platform that’s revolutionizing the way customers and local professionals conduct business with one another.
We focused on building a community rather than on the selling services, with the goal of inspiring local professionals to spread knowledge and expertise, and find themselves in a pool of honest customers doing the same.

Please describe your company and your position there.
Boosted.ai offers a cloud-based software to institutional investment managers to help them implement machine learning in their portfolio. I am the marketing manager at Boosted.ai
For what projects/services did your company hire Limn Design?
We hired Limn to create a new website for us. Our old one was on Wix and we wanted a slicker look.
What were your goals for this project?
We wanted a slicker look and feel to match our tech company. We wanted to be able to track analytics on the site. We wanted a more sophisticated feel to the site to match how contemporary websites look.
How did you select Limn Design?
We set a budget and began searching - I found Clutch.co by searching "Toronto web design" and looked at vendors that matched our price range. Limn seemed to be a good match of slick design while understanding our goals.
Describe the project in detail.
We had an entirely new website built from scratch. We did the copy and content of the site but Limn suggested several design options. First they started with mood boards to get a sense of our tastes and then turned that into a sample homepage for us.
What was the team composition?
Vincent led the project, Danny helped get the backend sorted out, Sam worked on getting us acclimated to WordPress and those sorts of changes and Greg led the design work. Mostly worked one on one with Vincent, who helped guide the process along quickly and efficiently.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Everyone that sees the site agrees it is better than the older one. I think it will be easy to scale up and add pages as well.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
The Limn team used an Adobe software (I believe) to track changes and notes on the site, which was helpful to be able to point out specific things we did/didn't like. I had weekly meetings with Vincent which helped make sure we were aligned on goals for the weeks ahead.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Their other design work was very impressive and I liked that they had worked with a variety of different companies, in different sectors.
The sites they had on their website showcased a lot of different feels (i.e. a retail site that was very in-line with retail branding today, a site for some sort of online banking that felt in line with that style of branding, I think even something industrial). The variety of work put me at ease that they would be able to deliver on our requests.
Are there any areas for improvement?
We were happy with the level of communication from Limn and the speed the website was completed in. Vincent made sure things flowed smoothly. It's difficult making multiple stakeholders happy but the team happily made changes far past the time for edits to be made.
On our side, understanding the whole process from the beginning may have made things run smoother (i.e. after X date, design changes are not to be made) - Vincent communicated that clearly, but perhaps when working with newbies, an even more straightforward plan that they require sign off on from the whole team (i.e. so other stakeholders are also aware of deadlines/expectations) might be good.
So a sort of "explain like I'm 5" scenario.

Design AV Marketing Essentials for Engineering Firm

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the cofounder and president of a firm. We are a business that started January 2020 in the residential and commercial automation industry. We design, engineer, and install such systems at our clients homes and offices.
For what projects/services did your company hire Limn Design?
Since the incorporation of our business early this year, we needed to create our basic designs and marketing assets for our company. We got in contact with Limn Design, to help us create our basic marketing strategy with the correct design assets.
What were your goals for this project?
We wanted to create a design that no other competitor in our industry had, which will represent us as a company through our marketing materials to the client.
How did you select this vendor?
I have known one of the partners from Limn Design for some years now and I have always seen his work. After having a meeting with him and his other partner, I knew Limn Design was the perfect candidate to do our project. I felt comfortable and that they were able to see my vision.
Describe the project in detail.
We had a list of digital and printable assets we wanted to be design with an open mind on the flow and feel of the assets. First they started off with the company logo and not just the look of it but every aspect with them knowing in their mind how all the other assets will look with such logo. After approving the logo, the Limn team went full force creating all other assets with the same continuity across all. Which was the most important aspect to us. We did not want any asset to look like they were pieced in as our company grew and no flow with other assets
What was the team composition?
The team was great to work with, I would hear back from them at all times and we had an open dialogue. They also provided access to their software so I could see the progress of my project at my convenience.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
We have been able to show our assets to our current clients and receive their feedback, which has been nothing but positive vibes.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
The Limn team would provide us with a presentation to review their progress at the end of the week, where we provided feedback on the spot if needed, but also at any given point we could reach out to them and request a change, which they were always welcoming the changes.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
I found a lot of aspects of Limn Design to be impressive, other than their work being top level work. I find their attitude and love for design to be the most imprecise aspect of the Limn team. Many companies can create top level work but not many companies do with a passion for the work. Their passion and love is represented in their work.
Are there any areas for improvement?
Every business has improvement to continue to grow and achieve higher goals, but I’m our case during this project, I did not see any area for improvement.

Web Dev & Platform Migration for Gift Shop
"Anyday (formerly Limn Design) is impressive in their versatility, communication, and resourcefulness."

Please describe your company and your position there.
We are a gift shop based around art, culture, and Canadiana. Established as a brick-and-mortar retail outlet in 2011, we have hosted pop-ups and shop-in-shops across Canada, and currently have two permanent stores and a quickly growing eCommerce presence. As Marketing & eCommerce Specialist, I oversee marketing and online retail projects for the brand.
For what projects/services did your company hire Limn Design?
We had an outdated Magento website that was not fulfilling our eCommerce goals. We hired Limn to revamp our online image, functionality, and integration with marketing tools, in order to offer an enhanced online shopping experience for our guests.
What were your goals for this project?
We were seeking function, look, and integration - all of which Limn was able to offer services for, within our move from Magento I to Shopify.
How did you select this vendor?
Limn was recommended by a friend, as a small and local agency. We spoke to several other agencies and discussed a much larger project scope with two. We selected Limn over one other small agency, for their eagerness and ability to collaboratively approach the project with our team.
We also selected Limn due to their user-friendly approach, allowing us to have a finished result that can be easily managed by our team internally.
Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.
Limn began by identifying and proposing a user experience strategy for our eCommerce experience. Based on our direction and in-house design, they adapted a purchased theme with functional and aesthetic edits. This was done with regards to full mobile and desktop functionality.
Limn also helped us with URL linking and ensuring no gaps in our online migration. Finally, they analyzed our SEO needs and proposed a strategy for us to utilize moving forward.
What was the team composition?
We worked primarily with Danny, who served as an efficient and communicative project manager. His teammate Vincent assisted with UX analysis and approach. Through Danny's guidance, a small team of remote developers executed the project.
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
Our migration and new eCommerce site has had a strong impact on our business over our busiest sales season. We have seen an increase in online conversion and sales. Specifically, the integration with Drip email marketing and our homepage pop-up Privy has greatly increased our email database growth and engagement.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
The project management was efficient and empathetic, with timely communication and swift response to back-and-forth edits. Limn's use of Asana was very effective in managing all aspects of the project in great detail and on a timely schedule.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Limn is impressive in their versatility, communication, and resourcefulness. They offer smart and useful solutions at a very reasonable price-point. Their ability to adapt to our specific needs and requests was impressive and appreciated.
Are there any areas for improvement?
Working with developers relayed in via Asana, there were times that work was executed to our aesthetic requests but lacked in functionality, or vice versa. With the collaborative and affordable approach of this project, I was able to catch most of these during the project scope. However, it would have required much less back and forth communication if a bit more diligence in verifying each task before being passed over to us as completed.

Brand and Web Design for Networking Site
"They are one of the best companies I’ve ever worked with in terms of flexibility and timelines."
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the co-founder of a networking site.
What challenge were you trying to address with Limn Design?
None of us at the company were creatives or could come up with meaningful brand identity. We needed a company to handle our branding and web design.
What was the scope of their involvement?
In the beginning, we went through some discovery sessions and interviews. They asked certain questions exploring the history of our brand, what we like, and how we wanted it to feel. They then created some design elements for our logo and came back with a bunch of examples. We chose a few directions, and they finalized our brand identity including a logo, font, and colors.
We transitioned to our website, where they started wireframing and creating some UI elements, some of which are clickable and hoverable. They also developed marketing assets like banner designs, t-shirt designs, business cards, and document templates. Aside from that, they’re working with us on the strategy of what we’re doing. They’re not just creating the website for us, but actually discussing the strategy, mind, and thought behind the designs they created. While they delivered the look and feel of the entire website, our internal frontend designer implemented the designs. They offered to do development, but we did it ourselves after they provided the design files.
They built out landing pages, an about us page, a functional search page, and some menus and submission forms. We had to build out a profile page for businesses, and they designed that including a review section and portfolio section.
How did you come to work with Limn Design?
I found them on Clutch.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent $60,000 so far.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in July 2019, and the work is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
They’re extremely creative and really understanding of the feelings and emotions behind marketing. We’re still in the development phase and don’t have any metrics yet but we’re 100% satisfied with their work.
How did Limn Design perform from a project management standpoint?
They are one of the best companies I’ve ever worked with in terms of flexibility and timelines. They are always prompt with replying to emails as well. Very often, they deliver ahead of time. They are extremely open and nimble and serve our best interests.
What did you find most impressive about them?
We like that they act as our partner and aren’t just taking our orders and executing them. They take more initiative with us and suggest trying more unorthodox things. We trust them and like that they take strong leadership on our design processes.

Please describe your company and your position there.
Code for Canada is a national nonprofit that connects government innovators with the technology and design community.
For what projects/services did your company hire Limn Design?
We wanted to design an interactive, easy-to-use website for our first annual report.
What were your goals for this project?
We needed to create a visually appealing, accessible, and responsive online platform for our annual report. The site needed to connect easily with our existing WordPress website, reflect our brand guidelines, and encourage audiences to read more about our impact.
How did you select this vendor?
We first connected with Limn Design through a personal relationship. We asked them to tackle small branding, design and website tasks. They were responsive and professional, which gave us the confidence to engage them on a mission-critical project.
Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.
They designed, coded, and uploaded content to our online annual report. They reviewed examples we sent, rapidly created prototypes, built the entire site, fixed bugs, and developed the backend that connected the microsite to our main website.
What was the team composition?
It was a small, responsive team that included a web developer and a product and project manager.
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
Our online annual report was viewed over 1,000 times. It has become a key element in furthering our sales, partnerships, and objectives. Many users and prospective partners appreciated our "digital only" report.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
The team was incredibly responsive! We arranged timelines and other expectations through email, and they ran demonstrations over the phone and Google Hangouts. They asked questions without hesitation and responded rapidly to our queries.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Two things stood out. The first was value for the cost. As a small nonprofit, our budget was constrained. They delivered a quality, polished website at a price we could afford. The second was their personal investment in the project. They demonstrated how much they cared by delivering a project of which we could be proud.
Are there any areas for improvement?
This is a piece of feedback I give to every developer, so it's not specific to Limn Design. Anyone who builds websites should pay more attention to accessibility guidelines. Their design was fairly accessible, but they could make small improvements to color contrast, heading hierarchies, and keyboard navigation to make the site truly accessible and inclusive.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I’m the CFO of an educational software company.
For what projects/services did your company hire Limn Design?
We hired Limn Design to complete an overhaul of our company website.
What were your goals for this project?
We wanted the site to have a more modern look and feel. It needed to lay out what we do as a company concisely. The website also needed to be simple, so users could easily contact us.
How did you select this vendor?
A colleague of mine referred Limn Design to me. They spoke highly of Limn Design’s work.
Describe the project in detail.
Limn Design rebuilt the site from scratch, using WordPress. I worked directly with a project manager to articulate what features and design elements I wanted. Over the course of two weeks, the samples were all set. Their team then began building the functionality of the site and implementing content. I was in charge of the material but received suggestions from the project manager on how to make it mobile and user-friendly.
What was the team composition?
I worked with a project manager and my in-house IT team.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Limn Design thought of things I hadn’t considered. The website is exceptionally well-done. Due to the user-friendly design, more users understand our products than ever before.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
The workflow between our teams was seamless. Having a single point of contact was the key to our success. Our assigned project manager was responsive and turned ideas into reality quickly.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Limn Design was insightful, offering suggestions that improved many areas of the project. From content feedback, design improvements, to the overall look and feel, their team is full of knowledgeable developers.
Are there any areas for improvement?
I believe the timeline expectancy could’ve been forecasted better. The project took longer than planned, but this was due to collaboration back and forth on how to improve things we didn’t consider previously.

I'm the co-founder and COO of Rachel’s Mediterranean Grill, a chain of fast-casual Mediterranean restaurants emphasizing natural ingredients, simple menu, and user experience.
For what projects/services did your company hire Limn Design?
Limn Design is our agency of record. They handle everything relating to our brand, both online and offline.
What were your goals for this project?
Our goal was to find one agency that could grow with us and manage our evolution. We’ve been lucky to work with Limn Design for seven years.
How did you select this vendor?
We wanted an agency that understood our industry, our values, and our vision. We weighed our options and ultimately felt most comfortable with Limn Design, mainly because we had a pleasant experience with the owner.
Describe the project in detail.
It’s tough to call this a project, because it’s so much more. It's an ongoing partnership with many moving parts, including brand identity management, reputation management, design management, web management, print management, and everything in between. They've created our brand identity and guidelines, takeout menus, menu boards, website, and employee handbooks. They also design our interiors and manage our construction.
What was the team composition?
Initially, we worked with their creative director. Even though they’ve grown substantially, we still work with him on a regular basis.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
At the time of our rebrand, we only had one location. Seven years later, we’ve grown to six locations, outgrown two of them, and seen our sales increase exponentially each year. We credit their rebrand with that success.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Their workflow is simple. They use software that keeps us in the loop and manages our ongoing projects efficiently.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
The most impressive thing about Limn Design is their attention to detail. They're genuinely interested and invested in our success. One of the best things about working with them is that they've treated us the same from start to finish.
Are there any areas for improvement?
I can't point to anything particular.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The main project we've assigned to Limn Design was for a start-up company. We've just recently completed the technical side of the project.
