What was the scope of their involvement?
We had a rough set of functional requirements. We asked for their feedback on specific areas and reworked functionality based on their input. Then, they oversaw the code development. The software itself is designed for general contractors and subcontractors. It allows users to review projects based on various descriptors, such as cost and supporting documentation. They can then bid on the projects they want to work on.
We used a scrum system to build the app. We defined the action items for each two-week sprint and followed up with retrospectives. They finished sprints quickly, which allowed us to work on items earlier than we originally planned.
We wanted an angular framework for the UI and had a lot of questions. We had some preliminary experience with AWS but wanted to know more about DynamoDB technology versus the typical Relational Database Service. They helped us put together a combination of DynamoDB for some portions of the application and a typical SQL database for others. They also helped us understand Lambda.
What is the team composition?
Andrei (Technical Lead, Alverden Systems) operates as our project manager. I’m not sure how many members of their team are responsible for the coding, but Andrei was knowledgeable and made the process transparent. He oversaw their team and updated us regularly.
How did you come to work with Alverden Systems?
We already had a relationship with them when I joined the company.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent somewhere between $70,000–$100,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
They started working with us in late 2015 and we finished the app in June 2017.
