A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
We manufacture and build drilling rigs and components for land oil and gas drilling.
What challenge were you trying to address with Adnorml?
We didn’t have a separated website from one of our parent companies. We are a joint venture, but wanted to develop our own brand to showcase our work as a standalone entity. We wanted a web designer to help us achieve that.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They worked on our website and our larger branding efforts. We already had a baseline of logos and other items we had already established. We really used them to showcase the brand externally. They built us up from scratch. I had some ideas for how we should present ourselves, but was open to suggestions for things like colors, the platform, and how the website would be built. They came with all of that on their own.
We collaborated about 50/50 on design and they did 100% of the development. I provided the images, but they came up with cool graphics that transition into the background on our homepage. They made the fonts and overall vision very clean. I gave my ideas to the copywriter, who wrote out content that we edited and tailored to our company.
They sold me on React because the mobile and tablet conversion is so smooth. Since those devices get used more than actual computers, we felt it was the right decision. After we decided on everything, they built a mock site for us before we went live. I’m about to contact them to get pricing on a few trade show items I know they can handle.
What is the team composition?
I met with Darren (Director, Adnorml), Lisa (Strategist, Adnorml) and their creative director. A copywriter sat in on the first few meetings to get our vision and direction. I also worked a little with their website developers.
How did you come to work with Adnorml?
We wanted somebody local in case there were any issues or emergencies. I searched for developers in the area and emailed five. Three companies wrote back within 24 hours. Our initial discussion was with Darren, who was phenomenal. They weren’t pushy, they just asked what we were looking for and provided examples of what they could do. They listened to our ideas and I had no doubts about them.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent somewhere between $20,000 and $25,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We began in about January 2017. The whole project went live about June 2017. We have an ongoing contract with them for monthly maintenance.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We get a Google Analytics report every week. Our industry has stayed flat or even declined in the past two years, but traffic to our site has increased exponentially. We’re really impressed by the number of clicks and low bounce rate the site has. They also submitted us for an award that earned us an honorable mention, which is exciting. The whole process has been very smooth.
How did Adnorml perform from a project management standpoint?
From start to finish, I was extremely impressed by their creativity. No one was afraid to speak. If they had a thought about something or a new idea, they brought it up. They followed up with questions and made sure timelines were met.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They provide a great creative environment. They nurtured good ideas and kept us in check if we went overboard.
Are there any areas they could improve?
The only other thing we really wanted to work on was SEO. Their quote was a little pricey compared to other offers. There’s nothing wrong with what they do for us, but I wish we could have done a campaign with them.

"They're very creative and edgy, without going too far."

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I'm the director of a destination marketing organization that has been around for 100 years.
What challenge were you trying to address with Adnorml?
We were interested in promoting the country's largest illuminated Christmas parade and we needed to expand our marketing of that event beyond the local region in the United States. We're on the Mexican border, so we already had exposure in Mexico, but we were trying to reach out to the South Texas Triangle. We were looking for a company that would help us accomplish our goals, working with our limited budget and tight deadlines.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They managed the whole project, from marketing to execution. We gave them our budget and asked them to come up with the best way to promote the event. Targeting specific markets, they produced some very exciting creative work and suggested advertising placement. We used digital billboards and digital marketing for the campaign, and they provided some social media services at no charge.
What is the team composition?
We worked with four people in total, including our primary point of contact.
How did you come to work with them?
We put out an RFP for an advertising agency and they responded. They gave us an impression of being competent, experienced, and enthusiastic, so we chose them.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent $25,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them in October 2017 and the project was completed in December 2017.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
They exceeded our expectations. Thousands of people attended the parade and we were happy with the result of the campaign. They're very creative and edgy, without going too far.
How did they perform from a project management standpoint?
They were wonderful communicators and stayed in touch with us throughout the course of the project, keeping us in the loop.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They were competent and professional, so I felt comfortable with them. Their level of customer service was very high and they met our deadlines.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I can't think of anything.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Give them as much information as possible so they can strategize effectively.

Marketing Collateral for Waste Processing Company
"The quality of their work is excellent … . They hit the nail on the head."

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I'm the director of municipal services for an environmental services, waste collection, and recycling processing company.
What challenge were you trying to address with Adnorml?
We were looking for a company that could provide art for an educational tour room at one of our facilities as well as graphic design services for educational materials.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Adnorml developed artwork, posters, and designs for the tour room. They created educational booklets, flyers, and pamphlets. In terms of digital media, they produced a couple educational videos as well.
They also helped us create new branding. Our company is based in Spain and the U.S. business is fairly new. There were some existing brand guidelines but they largely needed to be recreated for the U.S. market.
We expanded the scope of work to have Adnorml create our trade show materials. They provided artwork and graphic design for the booth, pull-up banners, and pamphlets.
What is the team composition?
We worked with Darren [director, Adnorml] and up to five designers.
How did you come to work with Adnorml?
We found them through a Google search and they happen to be right down the street from our corporate office. We reached out to them and thought it was a good fit so we went from there.
How much have you invested with them?
I believe we spent around $50,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together January–October 2017.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The quality of their work is excellent. The feedback I've gotten on the artwork that they did for us has been very positive. It’s colorful and very much geared toward the specific audience that we were looking to target. They hit the nail on the head.
How did Adnorml perform from a project management standpoint?
Everyone at Adnorml took a hands-on approach. There wasn’t necessarily a project manager but they’re all very involved and responsive. They were able to turn around anything we needed very quickly. Even when there was a change in the scope they were still able to meet all timelines. I have nothing bad to say.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their experience and design vision are most impressive. They were able to take our ideas and really bring them to life.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I don't think so. Our experience was very good. There were a lot of similarities, such as us both being small businesses, which allowed us to partner in a unique way.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Let them be creative and do their thing. Allow them the freedom and the flexibility to take your ideas and come back with different possible approaches. Then you can choose one of those or combine them together to figure out the final product. Allow that creative process to flow.
The site gained honorable mention for an award. Site traffic has increased in spite of industry stasis. Analytics show a higher number of clicks and a lower bounce rate. Adnorml was communicative and cultivated an open forum for ideas.
