I’m the CEO and founder of a dating app.

What challenge were you trying to address with 6thSolution Technologies?

We needed help with app development. We already put together a dating website with a different vendor, but we weren’t satisfied with the finished product.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They helped us develop our iOS/Android app from scratch. Our app is geared towards those in the world of self-improvement, so we wanted it to have certain tools that haven’t been seen in the world of online dating apps.

We dealt directly with Amir (Founder & CEO), and he delegated to his team.

How did you come to work with 6thSolution Technologies?

We were working with them in the same WeWork co-working space. I put a listing on the WeWork Facebook job board and 6thSolution responded in a couple of hours.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent $80,000 CAD (Approximately $63,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in February 2020, and it went online in July 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We decided to go on hiatus from the app for our personal business reasons. That being said, the experience of creating this project in comparison to our last dating website was like night and day. The style, presentation, design, and UX were all completely different from our previous site. We’re extremely satisfied with the end product.

With the first company we worked with, we were leading the charge as newbies in the field. They did exactly what we asked without any guidance or boundaries. The project kept going and the expenses kept increasing. 6thSolution gave us the proper guidance to know that if we asked for specific elements, there would be immense delays and cost increases.

They gave us suggestion to ensure the site worked faster and it was more appealing to the public. It was easier to navigate as opposed to some of the earlier ideas we went in with.

How did 6thSolution Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

Communication is a delicate thing; timeliness is important, but you also don’t want needless communication. 6thSolution offered us a good balance, since we were busy working on other aspects of the site.

There were times when we wouldn’t hear from Amir for a week and a half, but then he’d give us a project update. The timelines they gave us were generally respected. Sometimes there were delays because of things we requested, but it was all reasonable. It’s like building a house; if you have a plan and decide to change the blueprint, everything has a domino effect.

It was great that we only interfaced with Amir, not multiple contacts. It was a vast improvement from the last vendor, where we had to deal with three people on different time zones. It cut down the development time by three fourths. Our questions were dealt with almost immediately, even on the weekends.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their guidance stands out, especially if you don’t come to the table with a lot of experience in the field. It’s probably in the best interest of any developer to keep the project going for as long as possible so there’s more profit on their end.

Amir, on the other hand, was straight forward with us from the start. When we asked for something, they told us how long it would take and how much we’d need to add to our budget. We really appreciated that honest, up front approach. The post production support was also great.  

Are there any areas they could improve?

They didn’t give us much guidance on presenting the app on social media to make it profitable. Since our project, however, Amir has developed those assets.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

As every question. If they don’t have the answer, they’ll find it for you. Their team is really well rounded and has even expanded a lot since we worked with them last year. Be direct with the budget you’re looking at and your expectations with the timeline. As long as all of those parameters are on the table, you’ll be in good hands.

I’m the CEO and founder of Colorful Zone, a startup that’s designing a mental health digital solution for changing people’s behaviors. We do a combination of AI and behavioral science.

What challenge were you trying to address with 6thSolution Technologies?

We had the idea and the content we just needed someone to build an application for iOS and Android with a good design.

What was the scope of their involvement?

6thSolution Technologies developed our Android and iOS app solution. The app helps people with habit formation and solutions. Their team built it from scratch based on the content we provided. Now, we’re working on a more AI-based solution like having an app that monitors people’s interaction as a packaged data and then giving them solutions for a less stressful life.

What is the team composition?

In the beginning, I talked to the manager of the company. After that, I had an account manager as my main point of contact, and he managed everything. We also worked with a designer.

How did you come to work with 6thSolution Technologies?

A friend introduced them to me and said they work very well. We didn’t have any internal people who knew a lot about technologies. Our friend said this team was really patient and worked with teams that don’t have any experience with technology.

How much have you invested with them?

We invested $25,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project was from January–July 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The app has around 12,000 downloads. We didn’t do any advertising because it’s part of another solution. The design and development were very well done. Sometimes we needed to change the colors and they did it immediately.

Their team tried to design everything we had in mind. It was something I really appreciated because it was easy for us to tell them exactly what we were looking for and the implementation was very good. We also had a test version that allowed us to test the application in different phases.

Not only is the quality good but their pricing is very reasonable too. We’ll work with them again because the engagement went very smoothly. They worked way more than we expected them to. There were lots of back-and-forth correspondence as well as and editing, changing, and meetings. It was very easy for us.

How did 6thSolution Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management was good. I don’t have any negative points. We asked them to communicate through email, and they worked in sprints. Every 2–3 days, they sent an email and shared what was going on.

What did you find most impressive about them?

It was very smooth working with them because our job isn’t very technology-oriented. The technology was the part we always outsourced. They felt like they were part of our team and really took care of us.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I can’t think of anything.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

If you want to do a project and want feedback, I recommend working with them. They’re very friendly. Sometimes you’ll just need to trust their recommendations. They said if I wanted to have all this content on every page, they’d do it for us but they showed me samples that didn’t have that amount of content and text. We trusted them to change our structure of how to show the content on every page and it worked out very well.
