Please describe your organization and the role that you play there.
We are a PR and digital marketing agency focused in business-to-businesses. I am the director of marketing for the company. I run all of our internal marketing campaigns and programs and help grow the business.
What was the business challenge your company was facing that initiated the need for this platform?
I don't remember what product we were using at the time, but we weren't able to design emails in a way that we liked. That was the problem. I was also coming into the company as somebody who was finally taking over marketing for the company itself, and we weren't sending out a newsletter at the time. I was starting from scratch.
How does your company implement this platform or software?
We use it in a couple of different ways. We use it internally more than we do externally now because I do have a marketing automation tool, whereas at the time when we purchased it, I didn't. I used it a little bit more for list segmentation, curation, and management.
We use the actual email template builder because it's super easy. It's an easy platform to go in and customize exactly how you want it to look. That's primarily what we're using it for now. I can't speak to the analytics of it.
Was your company considering other platforms? Why this platform?
I met their team and liked the platform and what it could do, so that's why we went with them.
On an annual or monthly basis, how much does your company spend to utilize the platform?
I believe we are on the lowest tier. I believe we pay $9.99 a month.
Were there any software features or tools that really impressed you?
It is the building platform. I have not used any other email builder that is as simple as ExpressPigeon. You don't have to have any technical background at all to understand how to build the email in there. With some of the marketing automation tools or email builder platforms that I've used, you need to go in and work with the code a little bit in order to pull sections out or move them around. With other tools, you actually have to do that within the code, whereas with ExpressPigeon, it's just completely drag and drop, so that is always simple.
What we actually do sometimes is design our emails in ExpressPigeon, and then we will copy the code and send it through another sender. We're putting HTML in, too. We've done that for a couple in-house emails. Of course, once you get in there, you have to get it exactly where you want it, but we've found that actually to be helpful.
Looking back, are there any areas of the software upon which you feel could be added or improved?
The templates could be more flexible in terms of adding or editing sections, such as columns and photos. When you copy and paste any of the formatted text that you had previously done, it always pastes as plain text, which is probably the most efficient to do, but it's difficult when you're editing. I think it would be easier if you could change the section, say, from one column to two columns.
We also have had issues in the past with emails not being sent out. The ExpressPigeon team was great and helped us resolve that issue, but it was a problem at the time.
Have you had to interact with the platform's support team or reference their support resources?
I can always reach out to the team, and they are very responsive.
We have a few quick questions and, for each question, we ask you to rate the software on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best. What would you give the software for functionality of the features available?
What would you give the software for ease of use or ease of implementation into your business?
4.5 - It's an easy to use platform. It's straightforward.
For support, as in responsiveness of the team or helpfulness of the resources available?
5 - For the service we receive, I would give a five.
How likely are you to recommend the software to a colleague or similar business?
For overall satisfaction with the platform?
3 - It's a good platform, but we've had some issues sending out emails. There have been times when our emails have not been pushed out, but their team worked to fix that quickly.
