There is a lot of support for Quickbooks. It will save your company money by keeping all of your costs and bills organized.

Experience:

We've had good experience with QuickBooks in the past, and our accountants were comfortable with the software and the incredible amount of help that is easy to access online and over the phone. We have had some trouble with it crashing recently. We have trouble with the data file almost every day. We've tried reinstalling but have had issues with that as well. We use the payroll services, track our budget, we send invoices to our customers, and we use it to help us pay our bills. When it works, it works great. We have a lot of our company data and payroll data saved in QuickBooks and all of my accountants are familiar with QuickBooks. It has served us well. We haven't had to pay to outsource payroll, so it has saved our company money.

Pros:

We can have multiple people accessing the data, working on payroll, and tracking our costs. It saves us time and moneys so we can keep all of this in-house.

Cons:

The problems we have encountered are with the data file being inaccessible or lost, the system running slowly, and that it's hard to reinstall. We are debating continuing to use it, switching to another solution, or outsourcing payroll entirely.

Make sure you are comfortable with using the system and the ability to have issues handled quickly.

Experience:

The system was in place when I joined the company, but I was familiar with the system. I like the system because it is relatively easy to administer. It integrates easily with our HR system and accounting system. It does not take long for new staff to master the program. I like that it is very easy to track employee attendance as well as other bookkeeping tasks. I have not had many problems; but when I do, I am happy with the customer service I get.

My issues with it is that there seems to be a lot of redundancy. Payroll is a time-consuming task and is the most important responsibility of any HR department. When there is a mistake, not only must it be fixed, but it also has to be explained to the employee. Most people do not react well to mistakes with payroll. Because it is so time-consuming, we are considering outsourcing it. Although I never had issues with customer service, I have heard from colleagues that they are not happy with the available support. I think BOA needs to strive for top-notch customer service. We use payroll management, benefits admin, employee attendance, tax reporting, and more. I think it is a good system; but as stated, I am aware of many people who disagree.

Pros:

It is relatively easy to use.

Cons:

I wish it was not as time-consuming.

It is easy to use, and they offer a free trial. They have great training tools, and I have had no issues with customer support.

Experience:

The issue is taxes that needed to be paid for payroll and the W2 filings. I picked the desktop version to keep the costs fixed. I have been using the product for almost 10 years now. They have hit me up for some upgrades to the software, but they have been minimal fees and it was worth it.

The other issue is tracking expenses. The app has a tracking for credit cards the will allow me to import them directly from the card companies. This save a lot of time at the end of the month reports.

The last issue was tax reports, and this too is a time saver because all I need to do is a one click step and done. The app also will scale so I can grow into other features that the app supports. For example, point of sales for the cash registers in the retail stores. They also have a cloud feature for backup and web services if I need them.

I would recommend the QuickBooks app to anyone starting a business. Well worth the time and money spent. It's great, no issues for me.

Pros:

It works and has the option to scale into other features as I need them in my business.

Cons:

One thing is they are trying to get their system online. I'd much rather stick to the desktop.

Look into QuickBooks for your small business needs. It's user friendly. The process to integrate it in to your business is very simple. If you want to use it for you PayPal accounts, you can easily add them as well as your banks. If you want it simply for profit & loss, this is a great program for you. The customer service people are very supportive and always there for you.

Experience:

I used QuickBooks in the past for past mortgages and loans and have had very good experiences. Customer service has been very supportive and very knowledgeable and quick to solve a problem. Their interface has been easy to understand; it's easy to enter all payroll information into the system and keep hours and pay out amounts in order. Access to the program is probably the easiest; it's a great program to start out with, and great for small businesses and takes care of all my needs. I pay my employees with it as well as manage and pay my bills. I also use it to see my profits and losses.

I feel that it has performed very well. It's easy to access. It keeps me on track and makes life easier for me monthly to keep track of all my spending. It opens up time for other things I need to do. I love that I'm not spending long hours on payroll every week, which can tend to be time consuming. QuickBooks has freed up time for me allowed me to focus on other important stuff in my day to day business.

Pros:

I really like that it keeps statistics on my profits and losses; it makes my job that much easier.

Cons:

It takes care of all my small business needs, so I honestly can't say anything bad about it.

I would highly recommend it. It was easy to setup and is easy to update and maintain. If you need help there are many QuickBooks pros available to assist.

Experience:

Our accountant recommended QuickBooks for our company. The previous payroll manager had not computerized her payroll and was doing it all by hand including all reports. I had previously used QuickBooks in another office and was very happy to integrate QuickBooks into my new position. I have saved untold hours and headaches. We use it for payroll, vacation time, tax reports w2, w3, 1099. It has been a great easy to use and learn system. I can't count the hours it saves me!

Pros:

It is so easy to use for payroll. Managing payroll items and taxes is pretty quick. It prepares my tax reports for reporting.

Cons:

I wish I knew how to use more features. There is nothing I dislike overall though.

Review with QuickBooks experts all of the software systems your company uses to make sure they all sync. But other than that, QuickBooks has been a great asset to our firm.

Experience:

Some of the employees in our organization have had QuickBooks training and certification. Entering in time cards and running reports to see the payroll of our organization, also use the tax services to track the amount of taxes our organization needs to pay. It is an easy-to-understand system, which makes it easy for individuals in the organization to enter information in the cloud. Having the cloud-based QuickBooks system has allowed us to make corrections and work while not at the office.

Pros:

The interface is simply designed and straightforward, making it easy for any one to understand what needs to be done and how to do it. Training someone on QuickBooks doesn't take nearly as long as it has for some of the software companies in the past.

Cons:

Sometimes the intergrations for running reports do not sync with some of the other software programs our company uses.

Recommendations:

I am extremely happy with our service. The initial implementation was a bit of a process, but I worked with one person, and it was relatively seamless. Once it is all set up, you just log in to the system and start using it. It is very user-friendly, always available, and quite affordable. They also send email notifications when payroll needs to be submitted, tax withdrawals, tax filings, when W-2s are mailed out, and so on.

Experience:

I originally just did payroll myself through QuickBooks. Our accounting firm decided they were no longer going to file our quarterly payroll taxes. I looked for a service that would handle our payroll and file our taxes. I wanted something that was easy to use and affordable. Since we already use QuickBooks, this was one of the options I considered. I process payroll bimonthly for about 22 employees, export the data for payroll and tax withdrawals, and then import into our QuickBooks system. I print paystubs, use reporting to distribute IRA funding, and keep full employee details, such as salary, hire date, and so on.

We started using the service in October 2013. It is simple to use, affordable, and they have one of the best, most efficient customer service teams I have ever worked with. The initial software cost was about $400, and there is a monthly fee of about $150, depending on the number of employees. I plan on using this service indefinitely – I am very comfortable with it, and it works very well for our business. I already touched on support but, in addition, they also provide email contacts for their tax department. I use this to send our updated Illinois SUI [state unemployment insurance] tax rates. We also had Illinois tax credits to apply last year, and the tax department handled all of that for us.

Pros:

Having access to the friendly, knowledgeable customer service team is invaluable. I have called them on several occasions, and my issues have been addressed immediately. It is wonderful to be able to call and talk to a live person.

Cons:

It would be nice if the service could be integrated with QuickBooks so that the payroll, tax information, and so on were automatically imported.

It is great, but watch out for all of the extra charges. If you are a small business like we are, look for something simple and cheaper!

Experience:

I was originally told by other business owners about QuickBooks. The biggest problem is how expensive it is. We are a small business with only 9 employees total, and their cost has risen so much that it's not worth paying for. We only use QuickBooks for its Payroll feature, but you must pay for many other features to use the payroll feature. We WILL be switching at the end of the year to something less expensive. I believe our cost total (because they charge you 2 separate times) was around $1200 this year! We were forced to do an upgrade and then an update. Can someone please tell me what the difference in upgrade and update is, and why we were charged $600 for each. Use payroll features, which includes keeping up with hours and taxes and employee information. It has several glitches and locks up often. It has made it easier for us to keep up with payroll taxes.

Pros:

How much easier it has made keeping up with Payroll taxes.

Cons:

How expensive it is. I wish they would make an option where you didn't have to upgrade every year and pay an extra $600. Just let me pay $200 or so for an update to update tax information changes and leave everything else alone.

Do your research and make sure it's the right product for you. The chances are it is, but there may be a little bit of a learning curve before you get the full benefits.

Experience:

I have used Intuit products (QuickBooks in particular) for a long time and over multiple industries & jobs. It's the one product that has been solid and easy to use, while providing all the features I need to efficiently run a small business with the fewest interruptions. The only downside would be that it can be a little complicated to get to grips with. The help menus and links to online resources, as well as the accountants copy feature have been quite useful. It has performed well for accounting & payroll and keeps everything in sync: e.g., tracking invoices, bills, orders, and expenditures.

Pros:

Although it can be overwhelming, it has everything to hand with a lot of the most helpful/necessary features right there on the home page. It's also a fairly standard software so I have no problems integrating other products with it.

Cons:

It's not easy to correct mistakes.

I say give it a try. There are often trials you can use to try before you buy, and you will either click with it or you won't. There's some trial and error with payroll software, and you have to find the one that works for you. In my experience, QuickBooks is the best for small (and tiny) businesses without a full-time accountant or bookkeeper because it is the most user-friendly to those without formal financial training.

Experience:

We needed a solution that didn't cost a lot (since we are still a tiny business with only a few members on payroll), but was better than just having a set of spreadsheets. I had used QuickBooks in the past and liked that it was relatively inexpensive and easy to use. I like that is safe and helps us see issues as they arise.

We currently use QuickBooks for accounting - we use it instead of spreadsheets and to create bills for our clients as needed. We don't use it to make direct deposits to our employees. It has worked really well for us! It has made things really streamlined for us, reducing the amount of time we spend at the end of each month and at tax time dramatically. It still takes some time to enter the data, but any program would. It has benefited us by making our accounts more concise and up-to-date.

Pros:

I like that we can access it from anywhere. We sell online as well as in-person, where we often travel to a location to sell. I like that all I need is my laptop to enter in the data for the day, no matter where I am. I like that everyone on the team could use it if they had to, including people who are not involved in the finances usually.

Cons:

The only problem we have so far is the same problem we would have with any other program - our business doesn't work like most other businesses, so the way we want to split money isn't an option with the software. It assumes that you have 1 boss and employees, whereas we have multiple co-owners and split things based on who made what and who had input. It's not the same from item to item, making it hard to track with traditional business software.
