We are a computer software company. We outsourced development of a health care solution.
What is your position?
I'm the IT [information technology] director.
What business challenge were you trying to address with Softarex Technologies?
We are trying to be flexible and competitive in market in which there are significant competitors. We think Softarex can supply us a very good-quality solution with flexibility in management. We required the development of this solution in order to supply the solution to a set of our customers in health care sector.
Please describe the scope of their involvement in detail.
We needed to create a solution that can manage very large part of the patient clinic information and to be the central point for the health care structure for the management of collecting data via third-party interaction with largely used technology in this sector, such as web services HL7 protocol, DICOM protocol, and so on. As a framework, we use Java web-based application. We use these health care technologies and similar technologies that permit us to interact with health care machines. We interact with the system to share the image of radiology. Most technology is industry specific. Development was also in Java.
How did you come to work with Softarex Technologies?
I worked with them a long time ago at another company. When I moved here, I contacted them to start a partnership in this new company, too.
Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?
We work on this project from three years, and we get initial budget near $200,000 to 250,000 for the whole application. It grown with time.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started the project in the end of 2011. We are at 70 percent complete now. We need to work on it at least until 2018 by already defined contracts. It's clear we are working to extend it for next five to 10 years.
Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?
We get a large advantage in retrieving patients' information. The management of patients are pretty good in this application, but the best results are inside the fascicle of the patient in which we can recover, very quickly, all the information we need, such as personal information, laboratory or radiology results, patients' appointment schedules, and so on. All the patient data is collected in the health care structure that's inside this application.
How did Softarex Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
We manage the project with strict resources interactions. We get a daily and continuous relation using as main resources: Skype for direct conversation and JIRA as document and project management.
What distinguishes Softarex Technologies from other providers?
We always get great flexibility in the project management. In the case that we need a strong support for a brief period in which we must meet some scheduled deadline, Softarex always gets us the support to match the goal with good quality. This is very important to us.
Is there anything Softarex Technologies could have improved or done differently?
In terms of technology, we are in a very good state. I think now, in this sense, there is not much to improve.
