Tresorit offers the right mix of high-level security and storage features. While their security does limit some possible features, the peace of mind is worth it. Tresorit offers pricing deals for charity organizations, making for an easy decision.

Background

Introduce your business and what you do there.

We are a UK-based charity. I am the head of the organization.

Solution

What business challenge were you trying to address with Tresorit?

We are a multisite operation in the UK, and also have an international presence. We had tried similar cloud collaboration services, but with security becoming an ever-bigger deal, and with increasing reports of hacks and systems becoming compromised, it became a key issue to find a good solution.

How is Tresorit used by your organization?

We are using the mobile version of Tresorit's platform as much as the desktop one. The fact that we can get our data when we need it is a key thing.

How did you come to select Tresorit?

Security was a big factor. We were either finding solutions with good security, but which didn't have the features we needed or ones which had the features, but for which the security wasn't so great. After some shopping around, Tresorit seemed to fit the bill.

We started using Tresorit in June or July 2016.

How much have you invested with Tresorit?

We have a charity discount of 50%, which equates to £55 [US $70] per month for 10–11 users. We use the platform internally, and use the time-limit download feature for sharing documents with others.

Features

Are there any features which you've found particularly useful?

Security is a big one for me, especially when dealing with personnel files or confidential data. We still need to have flexibility when working across multiple sites, and Tresorit has given us peace of mind. They've added a few features over the last months, and there are one or two things which we'd still like to have but aren't deal breakers.

Are there any improvement areas, or features you'd like to see?

Selective sharing within subfolders would be great. We know that this hasn't been implemented yet because Tresorit won't do anything which could compromise our security feature. This is a non-negotiable aspect for me since, no matter how great a system is, it only needs to be compromised once.

Experience

Have you had interactions with their support resources?

Yes, a couple of times; they performed brilliantly. Tresorit got back to us and made us feel that they were listening to us, not just giving a generic answer.

Security is a primary concern, which is a strength of Tresorit. They offer a zero-knowledge system with encryption keys, which provides many security checkpoints. Secure, shareable links make the platform useful for multiple users.

Background

Introduce your business and what you do there.

We're a security company providing executive protection, cybersecurity, threat analysis, and other services of the like. I am the tech-ops manager for the company.

Solution

What challenge were you trying to address with Tresorit?

We have a file server which people were connecting remotely to, either through encrypted email or VPN. We needed a cloud-based secure collaboration platform which we could use for staff and clients, allowing more flexibility for our user base to work remotely.

How is Tresorit used by your organization?

Tresorit is providing our desktop, mobile, and web solution. There is not a lot of mobile app usage thus far; we do have a couple of users with iPads, but they haven’t adopted using the app as of yet

We are using between 20 and 30 licenses from Tresorit.

How did you come to select Tresorit?

Tresorit was the most secure option we could find. This is a big deal since we place a lot of emphasis on security, and the fact that there is a zero-knowledge policy with encryption keys was great for us. Across the board, we couldn't ask for more security checkpoints. Tresorit uses Azure for a data center, and the European Union has much stricter policy laws when it comes to data protection and security. The double-layer encryption within the app is overall secure.

Features

Are there any features which you've found particularly useful?

The sync feature is nice, and the direct-file open option for the Mac environment is awesome. The encrypted links are a great feature for someone not using Tresorit, and with whom we need to collaborate. It's a good way of sending documents securely, without worrying about whether it's going through plain email. It allows us to revoke a link when we're done. There are many features within Tresorit, but these are my favorite ones off the top of my head.

Are there any improvement areas, or features you'd like to see?

Being in IT, I can understand the difficulties associated with creating an app like Tresorit, and I'm more understanding in this regard. It would be nice to have the ability to invite multiple users on the same document, but this can be a very big challenge from an encryption point of view. I talked with Fred Eberlein, Tresorit's VP of sales, about this and I've heard that they're working on something like it. It has been my biggest complaint, based on our local user base. We can't merge changes from multiple users as we can on Google Docs, for example.

Experience

Have you had any interaction with their support resources?

There has been the occasional support ticket we've had to file, but the support staff is very good, so I don't have any complaints personally. Our users have told us that there are occasional glitches in the web app, or a filename might be too long for it to handle. Support tickets are handled very promptly and I haven't heard anyone say that they hated the application, or that it was unusable. This is extremely positive considering this is a big change to their daily workflows and a relatively quick implementation.

Overall, the message is positive. Tresorit gives people the flexibility they need to work while traveling.
